Just poking around over at The BoardsRoom and found this. Nice list of celebrities coming.

What difference does it make to you what the GF Herald calls it? If it isn't a true conference in your mind, why is it bothering you? To those 'SU fans that are saying the GWC is the "same thing we had", why did UVU, NJIT and UTPA all hold press conferences claiming that they were in a new conference and how wonderful it is? This article claims that UTPA had been without a conference for 10 years. Did they not view their prior arrangement with NDSU as a conference? UVU views this as a big step according to this piece. Did they just not understand that they had the same thing with NDSU? As I've said before this is step 1 for UND and a probably a necessary step.

Six months ago I felt like UND had a unique opportunity with a new president and a new AD coming on board. I know that it is early to judge them, bu thus far I'm pleased with choices by both of the selection committees that chose Kelley and Faison. UND's membership into the Great West Conference is just one step along the way. Nice job guys. Not a bad first 10 days for President Kelley.

DakotaDan enumerates the reasoning very well. With the moratorium in place for three more years, the possible conference invites may be limited. At this point the GWC makes sense. If an opportunity does arise, UND may have to pony up with exit fees. I think some of the Bison fans were hopeful and predicting that UND would be in "independent hell" for quite some time. Check out Bisonville. I think someone peed in their Cheerios.

Kelly, Brooks agree to terms Do newspaper writers check facts anymore?

No Joke: NJIT joining Great West Conference Enjoy.

In totally unrelated news, both the GF Herald and Fargo Forum's website's are down.

Just in time for the lifting of the Moratorium.

No and won't for some time, if ever. UND will be eligible for an at-large bid in 2012, I believe. But to get an at-large bid you would almost have to be in a power conference. This is Step 1 of the reclassification.

One of my favorite movies of all times. From the news release that Sica posted... I think we have a common theme here. This is big for the student athletes.

UND set to join new conference

Your first statement answers the question at the end. How many people watch an entire soccer match?
-
You're lucky that you live in EGF, or else MplsBison would give you the "whatfors" for having a kid interested in a non-sanctioned HS sport.

Obviously I hit a clinker with this topic or maybe it was my "artwork".

Last week President Kelley had the following to say about the name/logo issue... To emphasize the UND brand is has to be unique. I was in a Publix a few days ago and someone commented on my "Notre Dame" cap. My wife informed him that it was North Dakota, not Notre Dame. His rebuttal was, well that's okay then. North Dakota may had the interlocking "ND" first, but is still recognized as Notre Dame 90% of the time. Maybe it's time to redefine the interlocking logo. The "U is larger to make a statement about UND being "The University" of North Dakota. I thought about putting an arrow on the part of the "U" with the "N" on it like a North arrow on a map, but I couldn't make it look the way that I wanted it to look.

Very important. Nice pickup for Coach Jones.

Since smoking has become part of the conversation regarding guns, how about we throw in trans fats. NYC restaurants have banned their use as of yesterday. New York bans trans-fats

Kelley takes the reins.

Star is right the I-10 corridor is booming, from the Panhandle to Diamondhead, MS. I can see kids from the Panhandle much more inclined to go to USA rather than USM for football. USM does recruit students and athletes very well from Louisiana, but I can see the pipeline from the Panhandle being turned off with the a new valve installed in Mobile redirecting the flow of students to USA.

At this time, I would like all of you on Dave's side of the argument to visit Dave's website. Sorry, Dave. I don't agree with your point of view on this issue. There are already plenty of gun laws in place and the courts just don't enforce them. We don't need more laws. We need to enforce the ones that we have. We don't need to take away the rights of law abiding citizens because there are people who will violate the law. I'm glad that the Supreme Court handed down a decision in favor the 2nd Amendment. What surprises me is that there were 4 dissenting judges. That is what really scares me. Did they decide that they want to change the constitution from the bench? Truly frightening.

and the construction continues. I received plans this morning on a 116,000 square foot Student Recreation Center bidding next month.
