The council is afraid of a vote, yet proclaims that the nickname will perpetuate stereotyping. Why not let the people decide. It truly is amazing that Ron His Horse is Thunder and his ilk complained that they weren't asked to be included in discussions regarding the name and then when the settlement was announced he complained that it was all being put on him and now he won't even let the people decide for themselves. If I were the ones attempting to get a resolution, I would start a petition, collect enough names so that the referendum's outcome would be obvious and take the data to the media.

The Bison did a nice job of taking it to the Gophs. Hopefully the Sioux will see similar success in the coming years. As for things to worry about, I feel good about the recent hires UND has made with both Kelley and Faison. Neither of them were the one I would have picked (which is why I was not on either selection committee), but in hindsight it is easy to see why these two were hired. I think UND has some great new leadership coming on board and that will lead to great things for the University of North Dakota.

I'm looking forward to the game in Hammond. It can't get here soon enough. Hopefully I can get most of my family to the game depending on the timeframe of the arrival of our 4th child. I went to a college graduation at the University Center about 5-6 years ago. Nice building. I didn't get a chance to see the football stadium, though. I went to a crawfish boil in Louisiana over the weekend and talked to my wife's cousins who attended UNO and follow Privateer athletics. They said that there is no way that UNO will be kicked out of the Sunbelt. UNO received a sizable donation and would be adding sports in the next couple of years. On the Denver side of the equation, they said that the Sunbelt has been trying to get rid of Denver for years due to the travel dollars.
