  1. As much as students whine about poor treatment, they get pretty good treatment once they are in the arena. Outside the arena, they used to be treated like crap. It was at it's worst at the beginning of this year when we were all but ignored and then at the Wisconsin series all hell pretty much broke lose with a couple people getting injured. After that though, it got much better. So other then it kinda sucking to be outside, we really got nothing to complain about. And if you think about it, who made us get there so early? Nobody, so that was pretty much our own fault too. Wow, been done with school for about a month and I'm already going against the students.
  2. The Wookie should be made commissioner. He could rule with a hairy fist.
  3. OK. So why does it matter that Thomas hasn't offered Blais a contract? I mean if the Canes offer Blais the job, Blais is gone. So who really cares if Thomas hasn't offered him a contract. Thomas shouldn't be putzing around, but ultimately it doesn't matter what he does if the Canes want Dean.
  4. We got 103 on the glass. Stupid me forgot about them till yesterday afternoon.
  5. It'd be nice if Pohl played too. Just cause he's a stinky Gopher doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see him play. Gotta hope that the Blues don't take after the Trashers stupidity of last year and not play Panzer. That would be absolutely moronic, but Atlanta did it by not playing Hrkac, so who knows.
  6. There goes my plan of buying a regular season ticket and sitting in the student section with all my friends. Dangit!!! Oh well, maybe I'll figure something out by October. I think it is kinda dumb too, but oh well at least I don't have to deal with it. Good time for them to change things, when I'm leaving. This will also make it so people won't be stting outside for 7 hours for the Gopher games. That's kinda sad. That was some of the most fun I ever had. Nearly freezing to death just to get a good seat.
  7. The only thing I'd be swearing about is why Adam can't be as good of a ref as Schmidt. If you ask me Schmidt is very good 90% of the time. Adam and Anderson is a different story though.
  8. Frank White rules! Sociology of Sports is much better than Durgs and Society though. Good to know that Jordan isn't as hot as Zach. You gotta wonder why Dean would want him though, if the guy isn't hot? Ultimately though I think forecheck is the judge of player hotness. Afterall she is smitten with the Wookie, so she should know best.
  9. Maybe the third goalie is.....Giguere!!!
  10. That save he made on Gaborik in the 2nd, holy christmas! Right up there with the save he made on Modano. Amazing.
  11. Mike Legg on Steve Debus. That should clear the Gopher fans out of this thread in bitterness. Bring up that goal and they get defensive. That was the first thing I thought of though when Dupuis scored it.
  12. I'd rather sit at center ice than stand in 111, as would most other students I think. Then again I don't matter anymore since I won't be a student anymore. Most of the students did sit last year. The problem was that some students didn't and that caused a bunch of problems. The real problem is that no one is working together during the year to solve the problem. We all sit here with our thumbs up our butt during the hockey season. Now at the end of the season these conversations are taking place. Why the heck didn't they take place during the season? Both sides are to blame, but ultimately I think the seating situation will remain the same for next year with one difference. The sitting a majority of the time will be enforced and that will be good thing. Both sides could end up being reasonably happy with this situation.
  13. I think the students originally had sections 107-109 in the lower bowl and 307-308 in the uppper deck or something like that. Not entirely sure though.
  14. Lets think about this. No students buy tickets to the games. Since students don't buy any tickets, who cares where they are sitting since there won't be very many of them. Less students means it is easier for the Athletic Department to do whatever they want. Also by students not buying tickets, the tickets can be sold to other people for more money. So this clown's idea is for the students to stop going to games and make it so REA and the AD can make more money. Boy, that sounds brilliant. Make it so more profits will be made, that sounds like a great!
  15. At the beginning of last year, you are right, students did feel it was their right to stand up. But after a while most students saw the other peoples point of view and though they'd rather stand, they sat for a majority of the game. I honestly don't remember but how much were students standing up at the end of last year? If there wasn't much standing, then there was no reason to demand the bad students be tossed because there were none. You are right the students did constantly complain about being kicked out or moved, etc. Students no matter if it is 2003 in Grand Forks or 1958 in Miami complain about people of authority coming down on them. Then again other people always complain about students, no matter what the students do. Both of these things always have and probably always will happen. That doesn't mean that REA shouldn't have taken their share of the responibility in the seating situation.
  16. Not really. I don't remember REA getting any negative publicity for kicking the students out last year. The guys I remember being tossed were breaking cupholders. REA had them on videotape doing it, so the next time those guys came in, they were kicked out and their ID number was voided. The only students who whined about it were the ones that got kicked out and REA talked to those students about it afterwards and solved the problem. If REA would have talked to the students about standing up and told them either sit down or have your season tickets taken away, there wouldn't have been any excuses or reason to whine. If you do something wrong and are warned about it, yet chose to continue to do it, you deserve no sympathy and other students aren't going to support you. While it is a crazy example, if 10 people were constantly standing up somewhere else in the arena, would all the responsibility lay on the people around them to get those 10 to sit down? Or would REA people at least talk to them about it? The students were warned and told about it last year, but still REA could have talked to the problem students this year. They decided not to.
  17. There were many more than 10-20 students standing up, but I guess I'm just going on what flatspin says. I believe what he says in that almost all of the students would sit down if not for those 10-20 students. Much like other people, these students can't see when the others are standing. Unlike other people though they are willing to stand up to see the game. This just makes the problem worse and certainly doesn't help the situation any. If what flatspin says is true and it was attempted to get the problem students to sit and they refused, exactly what else should the majority of students have done? Not stand up sure, but then they can't see the game and they have the same complaint as many other season ticket holders. There is no easy solution, but when one side isn't even trying to find a solution, it makes it even harder. REA had no problem kicking students out last year and I didn't feel bad for any of the students who got tossed. Why did they have a problem doing it this year? They did nothing this year. Heck, security didn't even hassle us at all.
  18. So if 10-20 students stand up and refuse to sit down when other students ask them to, all students should be punished for it? REA and the Athletic Department did and said nothing about it all year and then all of the sudden at the end of the year it is a huge problem. If it was such a big problem, why didn't they do anything about it earlier? Why didn't they talk to the students who insisted on standing? Really, by letting those 10-20 students stand all year, they had an excuse to move the students. This was something they wanted to do last year, but the Student Senate voted against it. So this year they just unilaterely decided to move the students, without dealing with the Student Senate. They can use the students not sitting as the reason why they did it. Works perfect for them. Students lose seats and now REA can charge a higher donation fee for new season ticket holders to sit in those seats.
  19. What about having lines of Murray-Parise-Stafford and Bochenski-Lundbohm-Massen? I think those could be pretty good lines, other then the fact that you'd have two freshman with Zach. Maybe switch Stafford and Massen around.
  20. If you were with the Student, would you want online proof of some of the garbage you write (or as they would say right)? I know I wouldn't, so there's your answer. Most likely nothing is going to change, but Thomas has to meet with these guys. How bad it would look if he just blew them off? You gotta at least pretend to care about how the students feel.
  21. There were guys tailgating at the Sunday Denver series. So maybe you could try.
  22. More that their fans are annoying as can be. Plus I forever hate Krys Kolanos. But ultimately it is something to do with my boring life, so that is why I'm really doing it.
  23. How complicated is that to do? If it is simple or even a bit difficult, I'll do it when BC Beagles comes here next year along with a few choice words.
  24. The most annoying thing is that there never semeed to be much discussion about this. All of the sudden it was done. Quite stupid. Maybe there were problems this yar, but I don't really remember hearing about them. Why do the change now? Whatever though, it almost seems like a waste to argue. Should have seen it coming a mile away. The whole thing is disheartening because alot of students tried to work within in the system and do what others asked of them. Look what they get out of it, crappy seats. This certainly isn't going to help any. Instead it will just make students feel more abandoned, left out and not cared about then they already are.
