Good points. I just wonder how you sell it to a kid who played quite a bit this year. Does he see it as a demotion; will he take to the idea and position well. I really think he's a unique talent and needs to be on the field in some capacity a lot.

If they need him at DB, I don't see why he'd need the redshirt, I think he's a phenomenal athlete, and IIRC, he played both sides of the ball in HS.

IIRC, his recruiting was interesting at least the official announcements were. One day he's offered by UND, two days later he accepts, a couple days after he's offered by SDSU and within a week he accepts. I assume there's a discussion pre offer as to a "What if SDSU makes an offer?" Right? All these recruiters must know who the competition is, right?

Well the Gophers get to play in a bowl game this year and they were what 5-7 so maybe if the boys down south move up, they can make one too.

Loved his tape too. Just curious-saw his tweet a couple days ago re: his first DI offer and now he commits. No one at DI offered him and he didn't feel like waiting I guess, but unless the staff overwhelmed him and he just knew he wanted to play here, is there a concern that no other school wanted to make an offer?

I think I've said this before, but Smith's HUDL video was THE ONE I recall most from last year. He did everything, O, D and special teams. Great athlete. He could be special I think.

I saw that too. It wasn't a vicious hit but a really hard one and I don't believe the receiver was defenseless.

That's a good point about his record. He has the D2 Title and will always be considered the greatest here... Until Bubba brings home a title!

You don't think the Head Coach, a former DC, isn't highly influential in the DC's schemes?

I'm curious about this and don't have any time to review it, but... How many college teams get to go through the full season without losing the starting QB to at least one game?

I looked at BG's roster. They have a WR named Lewis they are touting for the Bilentikoff Award and he's a Junior. But starting QB and leading Rusher are Sr's.

We know our roster, but does anyone have a grasp as to which conference teams will also be good next year? The playoff teams have much coming back?

Would Mollberg switch positions at this stage of his college career? I understand he was a great athlete in HS. If Jake Hanson can go from QB to LB, he could move too. Btw, Jake was listed behind Ratelle on the depth chart the last couple of weeks. Kudos to him for gutting it out and being a great teammate.

Still haven't heard much about Donnell Rodgers. Love the name as he sounds like the type of guy who could be the on the edge pass rusher we really don't have.

Thanks for the Depth Chart shot. I'm guessing Tank at NG; Camy or Rooney will be involved in the OL in my opinion just based on what I saw in their HUDL videos last year. I have a feeling Smith spends time at WR too.

So looking ahead, we lose one of the greatest LB's in school history who will be all but impossible to replace (at least with one guy) and the O-Line takes a hit with Meehan, Anderson and Boas all gone, but otherwise this team is built on Sophs and Freshmen. Anyone wanna take a shot at a depth chart for next season? Which Redshirts do you think will step up next year? Obviously we could see some Freshmen play too, but I'm curious about the guys on the roster now.
