Watched game highlights and of course every goal Duluth scored was due to a mistake on our end. Goal 1: I get you want to outnumber teams on the power play, but we handed them a 2-1 with four guys low in the corner all on the wall playing below the puck. Goal 2: Turnover, and then a great film moment about compete and backchecking. If you coach a youth team show that clip to them. What not to do with tracking guys coming back. Goal 3: James takes a roughing the passer penalty at their blue line, and Shaugabay and the Plante's do the rest on the PP. Goal 4: Liv playing noon ball at the ymca....2-1...game. Hanson standing front and center, and nobody touched him. We were also super lucky to get to OT after we threw the puck away in our zone with under ten seconds left. The fire Jax thread may have started if we didn't get that one to OT....

Well look at that, Sam Houston playing Louisiana Tech in front of...the band....and maybe their girlfriends on a Friday night. Can't be more than 2,000 there, teams included. Light crowd at REA tonight due to the big holiday, but there were more people there then that FBS football game.

You just aren't going to win games when you've got guys with letters making dumb decisions late in games. Strinden doesn't shoot it on the 2-0 low, James takes a neutral zone penalty to make it 3-1, then Liv in OT trying to make a summer hockey play, then doesn't get back and get the guy's stick after Homer made the save on the 2-1. I don't think Homer is the guy at all, but he wasn't the reason they lost. Duluth has three guys that will beat you that you need to be aware of, and low and behold each of the 4 goals had a Plante involved in it. I thought Josephson took a step tonight. Big short handed goal and assist late.

A good question to ask yourself with those three on the ice. Who is my guy? And do I have his stick? Awful d zone there.

Zellers becomes a pylon in the zone, and its followed by more flies on !@#$ and its 2-1. Plenty of blame to go full circle, starting with the turnover on the other end.

The conference USA/MAC teams are the teams that get plucked as the early season schedule filler tune-ups for the power 5 teams so they can say they played an entire 1-A schedule when it gets down to the new playoff scenario. And when they are booked you get your FCS vs. FBS games, which are your FCS superbowls. Legit FCS teams are at the top of all those conferences, hands down. I'd even say UND would probably be fine up there. There is literally zero chance any of their conference games end up on a legit network on a Saturday. So they are playing on Tueday/Wednesday/Thursday nights on ESPN2/ESPNU to fill time pre college basketball season in front of 6,000 people and the highlights won't make ESPN because they'd rather talk about the WNBA and Ohtani. Yeah, NDSU should move up to that. How busy is the Fargodome on Tuesday or Wednesday nights?

Yotes sitting at 5-4 means this and every game after is a playoff game for them. I expect a very hungry home team, and another good road test for our kids to prove that the old road woes are a thing of the past.

I'll say tonight we win 4-2 with a Dylan James ENG, and Saturday the dogs get their revenge with a 2-1 win.

This reminds me of Adam Tambellini all over again. A whopping .25 PPG at UND in 16 games. Jumps over to Calgary and in over 100 career games in the WHL he puts up a 1.22 PPG average. You are playing against older, more complete/mentally mature players in college hockey. Makes sense why some CHL teams are currently paying NAHL teams for players now. If you are a CHL guy it makes sense to make the jump to college hockey, but the video game numbers you put up in Moose Jaw are over with. I think its been said, and I'll agree, as long as you have that CHL eligibility but aren't at the level of a Verhoeff or Reschny, it probably makes sense to develop another year or so in the CHL before making the jump to the NCAA.

As soon as the game went as south as it did they should've put in Brosmer. Run the ball and throw some quick outs. You weren't going to win that game either way.

This right here. I know we are supposed to hate the guy because he played at the Ag school(doesn't make me hate them any less), but going in with a fractured shoulder socket to go along with the labrum....every time you get tackled its got to be excruciating pain. He was indeed the whipping boy until JJ was 110 percent ready to play again. I think it shows as well what they have with Golden Gopher legend Max Brosmer. It could be a dark day in Detroit on Sunday.

I think the weekend comes down to our d core. Duluth has some good young players, especially their top line of Plante-Plante-Shaugabay. Max Plante is currently +11 on the year through 8 games. I like our d core when they play with a d first mentality and don't cheat defense for offense. They were pretty solid in front of Jan on Saturday, and if they hold Duluth to 25 shots or less I like our chances. We had our success against Gajan last year, but to his credit he's had a nice start to the year. Probably a Czech vs. Slovakian goaltending matchup on Friday night. Should be fun.

Thought our d was much more under control. Emery quietly had himself a real efficient hockey game on the back end. I guess whether you win 1-0 or 10-0 they all count the same. I may need to light up a cigar and have a beer or two, this feels like a loss.
