Battle of the depleted hockey teams this weekend. I agree with Sicatoka. Put Maris on a wing with Knight and Kristo. Goalies are supposed to be the best athletes on the team. Get the Puck to either guy, and in the offensive end stand in front of the net and draw a defenseman out of the play. Pretty simple.
  2. Just read a story online that Brad posted about J.T. Brown doing some obscene gesture after a goal. Anybody know exactly what he did? Blais sounded pretty pissed off about it.
  3. I thought when they said the lower bowl was sold out that it'd be the entire lower bowl...not just the basketball seating lower bowl....
  4. One guy that I need to see fight someone is Stephane Pattyn....I mean you see him out there screaming and hollering and throwing the body around quite a bit, you wonder how he could handle himself in a fight. I think in both series against goldy he challenged guys, but rarely is the time nowadays where you'll see a fight in college hockey. Not that fighting is the answer, but I'll never forget when Mike Prpich fought Peluso from Duluth in the first game of the year in the hall of fame game. That was the only fight that Prpich got into that entire year, but showed teams what the hell they would be dealing with if they tried to mess with the Sioux. Here is the link so people can remember...
  5. Glad to see action taken by Hakstol in the Blood situation. Knew something was coming from the team, now its time to see if the WCHA will have anything to say about it. UND player hurt on an illegal hit from behind......and Alt won't miss a shift....
  6. Excellent win for the women today over a talented Badger squad. Should help with making the NCAA's at the end of the year.

Each week it seems like a new player goes down. Its like a never ending list of guys that are dinged up or playing hurt. And thats minus the injuries that the team keeps extremely secret and no one hears about until the end of the season when all is said and done. Every game from this point on is almost like a playoff game for UND. Sitting at 20th in the pairwise gives them hope, but it also means that they've got to get 3-4 points most weekends from here on out. The team could be extremely shorthanded on Friday night if the WCHA decides to suspend Mr. Blood for losing his cool. Pretty tough to lose a guy that plays 30 minutes a night, but I'm sure we'll hear something early in the week. The last time these teams played the rookie netminder stole the show. Hopefully UND can get to him early, and play with a lead in a place that can get pretty crazy. I'll predict a split, with St. Cloud winning Friday, and UND coming back on Saturday to earn the split. PS: In creating this post I typed Sioux at least five times before having to change it.....baby steps....baby steps....
  8. Okay Wooger, we appreciate you posting here. We've all heard it before. Over age Canadians playing against younger elite Minnesotans. Thank you.
  9. Hey, after our team wins lets go to the fan site of the other team and act like morons....buh buh...whattya say?
  10. A gopher player would never do something like that without an entire team to hide behind.
  11. Hey, call them goons, but at least they'll stand up to someone instead of hiding behind their entire team. I'd rather have a goon, then a chicken !@#$ who pulls something then hides.
  12. I agree with you, shake hands at the end of the game. But do you really think a civil hand shake can be held after a player skates off the bench and blatantly slashes one of the captains of the other team, and then hides behind his teammates laughing?
  13. That would have been Jake Hansen. Who then proceeded to hide behind his entire team.
  14. And you wonder why everyone calls the gophers a bunch of weak little pansies....it is what it is...
  15. Minnesota is lucky that Jake Hansen hid like a little school girl, or Blood would be suspended for killing him in front of everyone on the ice.
  16. Notice it says "violently" into the boards. Checking into the boards is very legal in hockey. Please, someone back me up.
  17. Ummm. Checking into the boards is not illegal.
  18. O'Donnell possibly being hurt, and the likely scenario that Grimaldi won't be back makes this hill that much tougher to climb for this team. Talk about an unlucky year for injuries.
  19. I know there are ten minutes left, but honestly I really hope we have no stupid decisions here by any UND players. UND is so short handed right now that they can't afford any suspensions for next weekend. O'Donnell shaken up, hopefully he's okay.
  20. Hey now.....NDSU played Georgia Southern.....whose plane landed in Tuscaloosa Alabama.....Same thing right?
  21. My guess is that Forbort will be in the lineup, and Rocco will be out. Forbort wanted to play against Clarkson according to numerous sources. I'm thinking that Knight will try and give it a go as well.
  22. Agreed. I think the WCHA is a little more like the NHL than the OHL is with the physical defensemen in the league. If you look at the Whaler's schedule they've played in a lot of games where you have 8-10 goals scored, which is completely atypical of an NHL hockey game where on average you have 4-6 goals scored. A lot of wide open play in the OHL that you won't see when the NHL comes calling.
  23. Seems like the popular thing to do these days is jump ship and do the MJ thing. You just hope that early commits like the Thompson kid from Devils Lake doesn't head that route, as he basically has three years of the CHL trying to get him north of the border. You just wonder what type of success Jack Campbell, JT Miller, Jared Tinordi, Emerson Etem, etc. would have in the college game. Unfortunately in the case of JT Miller, at this point he probably feels like the best choice was made in his situation because he is having huge success for Plymouth. Through 32 games he's second on the team in ppg at 1.22, and is tied for second on the team in total points (He would probably lead his team in points if he had the full allotment of games under his belt for the Whalers).
  24. I think the Fighting Irish (hopefully that will never change) exposed a flaw in Mr. Patterson in their victory last night, that a lot of people didn't think was a weakness he had. He is a good goaltender, but not the best glove hand in the world. Three of their four goals were glove side goals, and on the breakaway goal you could tell that the Irish player had watched his film and was going glove the whole way. Need a rocking building to get this team going this next weekend. I'll predict a split, with the possibility of UND making it a three point weekend.
  25. It has surprised the hell out of me that UND hasn't brought a player in mid year. I'd love to hear from the coaches why they haven't tried to bring someone in, or if there is something holding them from bringing a player or two in.
