  1. The sad thing is that its only early January.....you're telling me that no other player is going to get hurt this season? This team making the NCAA tournament would be one of the greatest feats in UND hockey history. If things stay the same, UND will be playing with three lines against the gophers.....yikes....
  2. Correct about the fire and passion. I can't believe the team didn't show more of it this tournament. After the Canada game the players talked about how the crowd fired them up, and they loved it......none of them really played like it fired them up (maybe Emerson Etem). Zucker went ahead and told everyone that he thought the U.S. would beat Canada, and he really didn't show up until the third period against Canada. The U.S. should beat Latvia 12-0....but the way this team played this tournament I wouldn't be shocked if the Latvian goaltender was made to look like an NHL caliber goaltender and its a one or two goal game either way.
  3. Agreed. Last year=depth up the wazoo, and they still brought in Dickin at the midway point....This year's depth=down the wazoo and we haven't heard of any possible moves to be made.
  4. I was wondering the same thing. My guess is that the team has set something up for him to allow him to keep himself in the best shape possible. That or there is like 20 outdoor rinks in Grand Forks....he can skate wherever he wants.
  5. Crap.....Panzarella gone......just what the Sioux needed. Guess that means that Gleason goes back to play defense.
  6. 3-1 Sioux.....tremendous play by Pattyn to keep the play alive, and Kristo finishes the play the way he normally does.
  7. Nick Bjugstad shows absolutely no grit down low and its 2-0 Canada.....You can't lose defensive position down low like that.... This team deserves the relegation round with the way they're playing right now.
  8. Stupid penalty=Canadian Goal Sioux penalty=Harvard Goal Funny how that works....
  9. No better time to get back at the Canadian crowd than tonight. There is nothing better than beating a team favored to win on their home soil. We'll learn what type of character this team has after two tough losses.
  10. I thought the same thing Brian. Throw him out on a wing with Nelson and Kristo, they'll make anyone look good. You've got to believe Lamoureax is doing his absolute best to try and get himself into the lineup, but the coaches aren't going to risk it for the stretch run in the league. I remember a couple years ago some gopher fans on USCHO were railing on UND and Blais for having so many players on the team, and having so many guys having to sit out because you can only dress 20 for a game.....doesn't seem like such a bad thing to have those extra bodies around....
  11. My lord.....talk about depleted lineup......This has to be the worst year in terms of injuries in Sioux history.
  12. Agreed 100 percent. Kristo, Nelson, and Blood played a ton of minutes, and they all played extremely hard in OT. In OT you could see Blood absolutely hit a wall when he rushed the puck up the ice and tried to create a chance. The guy is an absolute warrior. He could be making a lot of money playing hockey elsewhere, but he came back and is playing his ass off every shift.
  13. Give Harvard credit. They knew the officials wouldn't call another one so they did everything in their power to prevent the puck from getting to their net. Boy would the Sioux love to have Forbort, Lamoureax, Grimaldi, and Knight back in the lineup. The Sioux couldn't roll lines in the third period, and looked like they got absolutely gassed.
  14. Powerplay to win the hockey game.....
  15. You can't give up a three on one in the last minute of the game with the score tied.....Blood just saved the game for the Sioux....
  16. Lots of throwing the puck around in their own end. But when you are so short manned and you get tired thats what happens....
  17. Interesting.....guy rips off Dell's glove.......wonder what they'll call this one. I'm guessing a goal.
  18. Harvard goal. Got to finish the game here Sioux.
  19. Funny....my Sioux crew T-shirt still says Sioux Crew on it..... And the sign on my front door of the house still says "Fighting Sioux Fans Live Here"...... Long live the Fighting Sioux!
  20. Obviously the Canadians have everything to lose in this game. A) You don't want to lose to your hated rival in your national pastime. (See D for explanation) B) You don't want to get anybody hurt because you've already earned the bye into the semifinal. C) You want to keep the mo going because you've played extremely well this tournament, and any letdown against the U.S. could carry over into the semifinal. D) Even if they win the gold medal, but lost to the Americans, people in Canada will remember. Hell, I've got a lot of Canadian relatives and they still remember the Fleury own goal to lose to the Americans, or the new years eve game a while back, when the goaltender from Michigan State (I think Joe Blackburn), and Brian Gionta stole the show. Long story short, they don't like losing to the U.S.A. Tomorrow night is the gold medal game for the Americans. No pressure, they've already assured themselves of fighting off relegation. Shouldn't be a ton of nerves in the U.S. locker room. I personally think the U.S. will get rolled tomorrow, but its not like they've played terribly in the last two losses. Canada 5....USA 2
  21. Talk about a devastating breakdown off of the faceoff that lead to the Harvard goal....Can't let that happen.....
  22. And after reading that all the Finns have to do is beat Denmark.....relegation round here we come.... Yikes could it get really chippy tomorrow night.....
  23. Backs against the wall.....need to beat the Canadians to have a chance at the medal round. No better way to get back at the crowd then to beat their dearly beloved on new years.....
  24. I like the fact that Blais got a different goaltender in there today. Campbell wasn't great by any means against Denmark, and it could be his wakeup call. The Fins have a horrible goal differential (thanks to the host nation), so even with two losses the U.S. should be able to get into the playoff portion of the tournament. We'll see what team shows up on Friday.
  25. I'd rather see Campbell give up some weak ones against Denmark than Canada or Finland. He is going to have to be solid for the United States to get by a Canadian team that seems to have gelled pretty well together.
