If you watched the lions all star game their senior year Yale was a way better pick than either Erickson or Doppler. Makes the choice all the more of a head scratcher. yale has had some pretty significant injury issues but he has been fun to watch when healthy

There was a lot of delusion all the way around with respect to the Bismarck fellas.. the UND coaches were the only people in the country that thought they were D1 players. It was quite the discussion at all of the high school games their senior year. All of the NDSU fans were pumped. I really am amazed that they stuck around.. I would have assumed they wanted to play. Maybe pre transfer portal era it would have worked out for them but most kids are better off going somewhere they will play even if they have eventual D1 dreams.

To be clear .. whether their application is successful or not is not the point.. the point is that they have language looking for a different option.. why should UND and others sit around and hope.. when your wife tells you she wants to date other guys you should believe her 😀.. not hope she will stick around after nobody else wants her.

The schools in the MVFC and the big sky and the summit that have interest in not being left behind need to do what’s in their best interest.. anybody that thinks the bison wouldn’t leave the summit in 30 seconds if they got a better offer is delusional. They already included wording in theMVC contract that says they will be the first invited to apply full member.. i happen to like the idea of a summit / big sky / MVFC full sport conference.. mont, mont state / und / sdsu / usd / st Thomas / Idaho / Idaho st / Weber state / I’m sure I’m missing a few.. but it’s fun to think about.. and then could move up as a group to whatever becomes of ncaa d1

My guess is most will.. but I could be wrong.. fcs is not even close to the top of D1.. but neither is the MWC.. im old enough to remember when it would have made sense for NDSU to put the 17MM they are going to spend on moving up to a 3rd or 4th tier “FBS” division to chase garbage bowl games into something like fixing their declining enrollment.. anyhow.. get off my damn lawn 😀..

The best part of NdSu moving up is listening to all of their fans call fcs d2 after saying it was D1 for the last 20 years

I expect NDSU to do fine in the MWC.. it’s not much better than the big sky or MVFC from a talent level and clearly the bison did great against that level of competition. The gap between the SEC/Big10 and the MWC is the Grand Canyon where as the gap between MWC and MVFC/BigSky is the Englsh Coulee i also think the fan base will be excited about the move for a while.. it will be fun to play some new teams.. see some new stadiums and piss on some new sidewalks. The MWC championship game could be cool.. but the 4th tier bowls will be terrible. im really interested in the financial side of it.. zero dollars better come from the state or student fees.. ive never understood asking kids who are taking out school loans to help fund this kind of crap.. their green and gold or whatever better fund it all.. just like I would expect our champions club to fund ours. the financial commitment side of things is huge.. entry fees.. increased scholarships.. coaches.. NIL.. etc.. and remember that most bowl games are gigantic money losers for the schools that play in them.. that’s why schools are turning them down. Unlike some others on here.. I’m really bummed we won’t play them regularly.. it’s been my favorite game since I was a kid (long time ago.. but not cotton top yet) maybe someday everyone will come to their senses and there will be the power 4.. a solid middle (we could call it FCS) 😀.. and then something lower.

$0 from student fees should go towards athletics. You have kids taking out 10s of thousands of $$ for student loans to go to these schools. For the ones that want to.. should have the opportunity to buy athletics tickets and intramural/facility fees for a reasonable amount.. just like a meal plan. alumni / champions club should cover it.

1st half of the year Jerry looked good enough to play in the FBS.. 2nd half Jerry wasn’t any better than Romfo last year. The kid could run and take a hit though but was a bottom half MVFC QB. I have a hard time imagining an FBS team watching him play the last half of the year and thinking he is the answer. Maybe it was all fruechte play calling and development but I doubt it. I still think he took some big hits in the USD game that impacted the remainder of the season. Let’s hope for first half of the year Jerry in 26.. and a couple guys pushing him hard for time.

Danny called a couple too many trick plays for my liking.. but he was more entertaining and consistent than fruechte and my guess a better QB developer. As I recall.. the major complaints were that Tommy didn’t run as much as he should and didn’t have a great deep ball. Now we have a QB that runs too much and is inaccurate. danny was handicapped by having to out score a consistently terrible defense. It would be interesting to see if a combination of Schmittys defense and Danny’s offense would work.. always fun to dream.

Two guesses on this 1) watched Jerry get his head bashed in on designed qb run after designed qb run.. decided that this wasn’t the offense for him. 2) recruited by Isaac and he is leaving.

Was just going to say this.. USD was “decimated” in the portal last year. It worked out fine. UND is building something. Will be interesting to see how all of these guys do wherever they land..,assuming they actually land somewhere. My guess is all of the guys who left would be better off staying at und and getting real playing time… maybe SS is the outlier.. I can’t imagine there is a huge market for a true freshman QB with zero college experience other than D2 or lower.. I hope they are all listening to good people and not snake oil salesmen..

I know we give some of the GameDay experience and social medial folks some crap.. but the 701 videos each week are awesome.

I’m sure some person can pull the Massey rankings or something else on SOS.. I don’t think it’s all that diffident.. KSU.. MONT.. YSU.. Salukis (3/4 on the road) versus NDSU/USD/SDSU (1/3 on the road) I think it’s your latter points.. plenty of film., tighter.. Isaac.. Z.. and I would add accumulation of big hits on Jerry that are bigger than SOS.

Kansas state.. Montana.. Youngstown.. salukis.. all pretty good teams. versus USD.. NDSU.. SDSU.. tow of those at home. I think the SOS is reasonably comparable.

There are a couple games from last year that might disagree with this optimism.. most games were the defense fault.. but there were a couple that the offense was MIA and a good chunk of that was Simon. given that and Jerry’s play the last few games.. I would still start romfo this game.. and if Jerry is healthy work him in.

The xDSUs have proven that great players on those teams have as good or better chance getting drafted playing high level FCS then hopping to some FBS team. UND still needs to prove it. FBS has crazy money to throw around.

Actually there SHOULD be a couple people where this is their biggest worry.. obviously schmitty.. the players and all the other coaches have bigger fish to fry my guess is there are roughly 1500 business/marketing students at und that could do better.. Ndsu obviously does.. UnD hockey obviously does..

Echo this 100%.. especially the part about hopefully Jerry is ok.. kid is super tough. facts.. you would take the Jerry of the first 8 games over romfo.. and you would likely take last years romfo and today’s 4th Q romfo over Jerry’s last 4.5 games. as a reminder.. romfo wasn’t great last year but he was still about 15th on the list of things wrong with the team. With the massively improved defense.. kickers and total offense needs to get better. It’s hard to keep an rpo QB healthy.. so you better have a couple and romfo could fit the bill for us.. @SIOUXFAN97 might not like it.. but schmidty was gushing about romfo in the post game and the kid deserves it. also.. I think romfo was 4/8 passing with two bad drops. And the defense. Wow.. and Z.. what a great story.

Siedl will look better when he doesn’t have to run 30 times in between the tackles.. he looked a lot less explosive today on kickoff returns and his runs.. I think they have overused him on the inside running game.

I’m not sure if it was the Indiana St game or the USD game.. but Jerry took some really big hits and hasn’t been the same since. Romfo is doing a nice job managing the end of this game.

Z is a tough dude.. I’m amazed he came back this quickly..

I can’t imagine that they actually have a camera angle that shows he was out.. as crap as the camera work has been all game.. unbelievable
