  1. All of these other teams play multiple qbs the first few games of the year. For some reason we pick one and stick with that qb even when it was a close race in fall camp.. I’ll never understand our unwillingness to try out someone else. The current situation screams for getting the backup a little time just to see.
  2. Defense will be fine this game.. offense is the much bigger concern. Complete lack of any respect by SD for our passing game. The box is loaded every down. If SD sees it so does every other team. if they are going to stick with romfo we should run the triple option or the veer. luckily our RBs are so good that they can still break it given a little daylight.
  3. It was a bad throw.. should have been an easy td
  4. Ended 8/10 for 97 yds and a rushing td.. pretty cool to see him do that
  5. Also.. big win against a team everyone was sweating about. letdown - nope defense - awesome until we let off the gas Kickoffs - better certainly some head scratchers.. but 52-28.. I’ll take it.
  6. Agree 100%.. the coaches see what we see.. if they had some much better option he would be out there. I am totally baffled why they don’t give Jerry time when we have a big lead though.. seems like you should want to develop the backups.
  7. As a general note.. it is possible to both be excited about UND football and our current over performance of expectations and also be very concerned about Romfos throwing ability. The way the bengals were focusing on the rushing game an above average passer would have had 400+ yds. defense played good enough in the first half that it didn’t matter. Would have like to have seen our backup QB.. if you aren’t putting him in in the last quarter at least in this game you aren’t ever putting him in. I’m guessing that contributed to feeneey leaving also.. for some reason the backup qb doesn’t get any time even with a bit lead.
  8. We won…. my guess is .. if the second half looked like the first half Jerry would have seen time in the game… but it didn’t
  9. Maybe a little optimistic but certainly not joking.. If you remember the 2018 (6-5, missed the playoffs) and 2019 (7-5, lost to NS in the playoffs) teams. Kett won some games and also clearly lost some very winnable games while also flipping off the home crowd. Im optimistic that we have seen the floor with Romfo (could be wrong.. Im just a guy on the internet). I think his floor is higher than Kett's but Ketts ceiling was probably higher. This years team, and likely the 2018 and 2019 teams would have been better off with a higher floor guy and not the wide swings. I also hope we get to see some Jerry time.. just like I wish we had gotten to see more of Feeney last year. Hopefully due to us having a big lead and not injury related.
  10. Pretty cool recap video that UND football posted. “If you see me in the forest fighting a grizzly help the grizzly” Pedigo. also a little clip of the strength and conditioning guy.. looks really high energy. Seems to be having a very positive impact.
  11. I’ll take Romfo over Kett 10 out of 10 times.. Kett could throw a heck of a ball.. but man was he a head case. He single-handedly lost multiple games and I’ll never forget the game that he was screaming at the home crowd after a few of the faithful were booing him from the end zone.. 2019 would have been a much better year if they never gave him the starting spot back after Tommy won the Sam Houston game. anyhow.. Romfo obviously needs to improve in the throwing category. Put me in the category of those who think we have seen the floor. If he was this bad in the spring and fall camp I can’t imagine he would be starting. If he was this bad and still is starting we might want to be careful about hoping for the backup.
  12. Quite a conspiracy theory there.. somebody else mentioned that one to me the other day as well. My bet is the OC picks the QB.. I would guess if it was up to the HC only or was some political thing he would have picked Feeney or Jerry to better maintain the Moorhead or Wisconsin connection versus the Calvin ND connection. all that being said.. hopefully Romfo continues to improve his throwing. It will be hard to win running only and if he can only run we will need the backup qb before the end of the year.
  13. As I recall.. last year you were calling Tommy Noodle arm and advocating for Jerry and Feeney. Somehow this kid with no throwing ability (according to you) beat out both of those guys in an open competition. Danny could have picked either one of those guys.. Fruechte also could have picked either of those guys and yet they both picked somebody else. Lets give Romfo a chance here. Whens the last time we beat the #4 team in the country.. Last year I think NDSU was #6 or #7 but I cant remember and the running game was the star of that show as well. The impact of a great running game on our defensive performance cant be emphasized enough. Agree with you on the interceptions.. they were basically the same play two different games.. I think he got hit on both throws..
  14. Millers article this morning had a great comment from Hauck.. ""We didn't have the ball. We had one first down in the second half, and it was on the last drive. We failed in every aspect in the second half, and they did a good job making second-and-long (into) third-and-short. Gave them the ability to run it. I don't know if they can throw it. We didn't make them." Im guessing the upcoming teams will start making us throw it. Maybe our O-line, RB's and QB can be dominant enough that it wont matter.
  15. Last couple years we were all complaining about Tommy’s unwillingness to take easy yards on the ground.. this year seems like the theme will be Romfos struggles with the pass.. let’s see how it plays out.
  16. Biggest difference so far this year is willingness of the offensive coordinator to commit to the run.. if Tommy had turned around and handed off the ball we would have won more games last year. at some point our lack of passing competency will catch up with us this year. But we would have been a better team last year with more commitment to the run
  17. Got to give the Administration some credit on this last win. They did a great job with the tailgating atmosphere/live music as well as the fireworks after the game. Over all very well done. I hope that the football team can maintain the momentum through the season as this was a great crowd and great game. I was really surprised that more people didnt bail at halftime.. The Alerus was rocking. Similar to others comments Defense first quarter/first half was hard to watch.. for a while I was thinking we would get run out of the alerus. I thought Montana was going to hang a 50+ on us maybe by halftime. The turn-around in the 2nd half was unbelievable.. complementary football but also very strong performance on both sides of the ball. Felt like we had more sacks in the 2nd half than all of last year. Watching our D-line.. pretty significant improvement.. although im not sure how our 98 hangs in there.. he looks really small.. program lists him at 6' 270lbs.. looks generous to me. Our run game is fun to watch.. add in Romfo and all three of our RB's look like they can take it to the house on every play. Very few negative plays. Commitment to the run is such an obvious improvement over last year.. Fruechte seems to know its our strength this year and leans into it. This was my biggest complaint of Danny last year.. love seeing Q in short yardage.. crowd goes nuts.. pretty unstoppable. If you need a yard he will get you 2.. if you need 5 yds he will get you 2. Two games into the year and no trick plays.. its a nice change-up. A few trick plays a year are fun.. when its a mainstay in your offensive gameplan each week it gets old. To this point of the season our new o-line/OC are minimum of a push and maybe better than the guys we lost. At some point we are going to have to throw.. Hopefully Romfo will improve in this area. Kickoffs have to improve.. its embarrassing.. Was nice to be 2/2 on FG's.. should be a confidence builder.. Im waiting for the fake on this one with Romfo as the holder.
  18. Seems like the fbs to fcs gap is bigger than ever. We might all need to step away from the ledge a bit
  19. I have no doubts why feeney left.. he spent the last three years watching and saw his whole college career going by without any meaningful playing time. How much of the lack of putting in subs is bubba and not the OC? agree 100% about last year.. feeney should have played more particularly in the blowouts. This game though.. seems like if u think romfo is the guy you have to get him game experience.. it wasn’t a blowout and was meaningful snaps.
  20. You can’t watch the game today and believe romfo is a good fcs level QB. I hope he had a bad game and will be much better the rest of the year… maybe he won’t lose games.. but didn’t seem like he would be winning them either. His mobility and scrambling abilities were good but at some point you have to make some throws. Watching miller on Thursday and comparing him to our guy they are different levels right now.. hopefully it was a bad game.
  21. Crap call for sure.. could call that every play
  22. Omg.. 3rd and long stop.. already better than last year! I half expected the ghost of kk to come running across the field.
  23. Difference to me so far is willingness to run.. and continue running. Will be interesting if we attempt any longer passes… eventually need to stretch the defense.
  24. Looks like we have a little specialist work to do.. crappy punt.. crappy kickoff
  25. Hopefully the new strength and conditioning is a difference maker for us
