This certainly represents how it’s felt over the years.. we pick 1 qb and stick with them no matter what. It seems to me that other programs are much more willing to give multiple QBs significant reps… I bet in the 6 teams we have played this year…. All of them have played their 2nd string qb more than us. We seem to do a crap job getting the backup reps.

Would have loved to see more schuster in 2019

Manitobo moose is one of my favorites players in the last 15+ years easily.. Santiogo was great.. but the Moose was a dude! 2016-2018 were years of wasted talent. Most disappointing team to me in the recent era though is prob 2021. Should have been our first win against NDSU.. and with a competent kicking game we would have won 9 games.. a 5-6 team that easily could have been 9-2 and maybe 10-1. That years team dreamed up ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.. Ill never forget it.

agree.. add in the terrible hold / bad spot on 3rd and 1 right shortly after romfos fumble. We had some chances even in the 2nd half.. team needs to take advantage of them. NDSU was more physical overall.. would have liked to see our team punch back.

Biggest difference between Caden and demontenac is that Caden has taken some crazy hits and hung onto the ball. Seems more sure handed to me.

There is a difference between a backup qb infatuation and wanting to see the backup qb get some reasonable time in game situations. there are a few commentators that will always want the backup regardless… if Jerry was out there they would want romfo or one of the others.. Most of the reasonable folks just want to see Jerry when he should be out there. He should have played the entire 4th quarter of the ndsu game. The game was over and instead it was more important to have romfo throw underneath passes against prevent defense. Total crap. I assume our coaches aren’t idiots and are playing the best players.. it’s a great way to lose the locker room by playing favorites and not the best player. There is no indication bubba/fruechte have done that and actually seems to be the reverse.. seems to be a lot of love doe Romfo in the locker room.

This game was not fun.. it sucked in person and when rewatching. Our defense.. uffdah.. zero pressure on bison QB's all day. Closest thing to pressure was the Rucker almost sack at the end of the 2nd quarter where he totally whiffed on Cam. That could have changed the game we would have gotten the ball back and had the opportunity to score at the end of the quarter.. instead they convert and then get a FG.. We need game-changing plays like that. The biggest disappointment of the bubba era has to be the defense.. A defensive minded head coach who cant put together a defense that can regularly hold decent teams under 30. Thats bubba's biggest failure in my book. Two positions on the offense that I am amazed we dont have better options.. Romfo and Demontenac.. both had turnovers in the 2nd half.. Demontenac has had turnovers and drops in every game although he did have one great catch this year. Romfo's stats look respectable.. all of them were in the 4th quarter when the game was over. HIs fumble on the first play of the 2nd half was terrible. I was hoping that our 2nd half adjustment would be good and I still had hope... Too many unforced errors Ziebarth is a dude.. it looks like the injuries in RB position are starting to pile up. Bye week is at a good time for the RB room. O-line played like they lost 4 starters for the first time this year. While I would never blame the refs for the whole gems the bison clearly got their moneys worth. The two PI call in the first half were super weak.. there was significantly uncalled holding even the NDSU homer announcers commented on it multiple times. My favorite non-call was on 3rd and 1 early in the 2nd half.. Pedigo fights through a terrible non-call hold/tackle from behind.. somehow makes the tackle and with a super generous spot the Bison somehow had a first down and that late hit call on rucker was absolute crap.. If Romfo is the best QB in our QB room.. I cant imagine anyone wanting the other guys through the portal. Why in the heck did romfo even play in the 4th quarter. One of my biggest complaints is lack of development of depth in the QB room. The game was basically over.. Romfo had done nothing in 3 quarters.. give the next guy a chance. Lets see if he can do anything. Tommy is getting more playing time at Michigan state than our backup QB's.. its totally depressing. Anybody crapping on Feeney needs to get a grip.. who would want to be a backup QB at UND.. even when the starter sucks the backup never gets a chance. I still have a lot of hope for this year.. Our schedule sets up decently for our team and Im hoping for the reverse of last year. Last year we beat NDSU and then sucked the rest of the year... this year we lost to NDSU and Im hoping for a steady trend upwards. Hopefully get healthy during the bye week and then kick some UNI butt.

One of my favorite parts about this week is listening to all of the fargo bozos talk about how this isnt even a rivalry game and yet if you go to any game they play.. even their national championship games entire sections are chanting about the F'n hawks. Rent free in these peoples head's year around regardless of the outcome. by the way.. only sell-out they have all year. Lets top it off and roll them in the dome!

I think we have to give a little credit to whomever is putting together all of the F'n hawks football content these days. All of the little clips they are piecing together are really nice Still love the day by day and look forward to it every week I like the Week x threads I like all the locker room clips for halftime adjustments I like the game wrapup video with Jack Michaels Really liked that Donnell Kirkwood 309 rushing yards clips How about that Hunter Pinke fire-up.. still have some goose bumps. IF you dont like that one you dont have a pulse. Im sure Im missing something.. but I love the effort on the content this year.

All of the data from the season would suggest that we should be able to run on these guys. If they stack the box, romfo will have to complete a couple passes against man coverage to a likely wide open belquist. Im hoping for complementary football with the offense helping to keep the defense off the field with pressure by the defense. Nothing is more defeating than a team running the ball down your throat with nothing you can do to stop it. I still have nightmares about Luepke running at will in the fargodome a few years back. This year it could be our year to do that.

its good bulletin board material.. very little respect.. prove them wrong.

Im amazed that romfo has attempted more passes then Cam.. sure hasn't felt that way.

Most unstoppable short yardage play.. Q has it perfected.
-
Is he in the top 90 yet :).. he is having a great game today
-
4 completion's.. 3TD.. not bad
-
Kostich crew is having a game today!

24 pts in the first quarter.. yowza..

While you aren’t generally wrong.. I think most reasonable people are just wanting to see the backup qb get some minutes in a game. Particularly a game we have a reasonable lead in. Seems dumb and shortsighted to not want to get your backup (at any position much less an important position like qb) some game minutes outside of a kneel down. there is a different group that always wants to replace our current qb regardless of current record. I thought miller had some interesting perspective in the 360 podcast about romfos struggles passing this year versus fall camp. Related it to a short guy against fall camp pass rush versus an actual game pass rush. overall my comments in this specific thread were intended to be more complimentary of Tommy. Happy to see him at Michigan state and playing well in his opportunities.

Tommy's time starts at about 16 min mark... with 3 mins left in the 3rd quarter. Its almost like they are trying to make sure the backup QB gets some reps :).

Danny was a very good OC. He was such a big upgrade from the prior OC that its not even comparable. My only real complaint with him was that he tended to rely too much on trick plays for my liking and particularly in the last year could have been more successful by leaning into the running game. Fruechte has been very good so far, particularly with his focus on the teams offensive mindset and strength.. hopefully he continues to improve and can develop a more balanced attack. I know people dont like to give Bubba credit but the recruitment of Fruechte and Olson seem like very positive improvements to the team in a time that it could have been a disaster. Finally, if anyone really wanted Danny as a future HC candidate/Bubba replacement for UND.. a stint at a successful program like SDSU will make him more qualified rather than less qualified in my book.

General agreement with yah.. Im 100% sure that Danny didn't leave because Tommy left Im wondering though if Tommy didnt leave at least partially because Danny was suggesting there would be an open QB competition in spring ball. Backup QB for the spartans is a good gig.. backup qb for the hawks doesnt seem to be.
-
Biggest difference for me this year is play calling by Fruechte versus Danny and improved defense (they are related).. If we had committed to the run in the 3 games you listed above we would have won at least 2 of the 3. If I recall the timeline last year.. Tommy moved on.. then Danny moved on. I wonder if Tommy would have left if Danny had left first.. Just like I wonder who would have been the starting QB if Danny had stuck around.. Interesting to think of. Tommy running our current offensive mentality is a fun thought.

I agree with a fair amount of this comment. I have heard few people calling for Romfo to be out and out replaced.. I have heard many people questioning the lack of playing time for our backups and until we see them play we have no idea if they are any better than Romfo. I cant imagine them being worse at throwing but maybe Romfo is that much better at everything else. The fact that our backup qb has gotten one play (a kneel-down) in the first 4 games of the year is ridiculous. Personally Im super excited about UND being 3-1 at this point in the year.. this was the most optimistic record that anyone could have predicted based on all of the turnover we had.. many would have predicted 2-2 and a few negative nancys would have predicted 1-3. All of that being said.. you cant be excited about the play of the QB position. We beat Montana because they didnt load the box to stop the run (their coach admitted it) and our defense had a great 2nd half.. ISU and SD.. we should beat those teams and it shouldnt be a question.. Same with Murray State. SD had so many people in the box one pump fake and our WRs were running down the field uncovered. I would guess we will see the same defense from Murray state. I hope Romfo kills it the rest of the year.. I hope these first 4 games were a complete aberration of his actual passing ability. A decent passing game will take stress off our running game and allow it to be even more dominant. I also want to see Jerry get some playing time.

Agreed.. I think romfo completed as many throws to the other team as our team in the first half. 5/13 with 2 ints won’t get it done against a decent team. if we are sticking with romfo, I would like to see him more involved in the run game like the Montana game. Yesterday all he did was hand off the ball and make a bunch of questionable throws.. outside of two wide open completions to belquist. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the qb room when they are watching a replay of the game.
