At the end you state "It has always been about good hockey...." But at the beginning you say how your love for the hockey has changed with the nickname/merchandise/logo. If it has "always been about good hockey" to you I'm having a hard time understanding your position. The hockey hasn't actually changed even though the nickname has.

We should probably see how the series this fall and next turn out before we worry about how the Vegas game goes.

The biggest problem with the Minnesota series isn't the other events in town...it's the fact that it is over the opening weekend of firearms deer season (well, for me anyway).

Does anyone know if any of the other MN schools have ever tried to bid for a regional at the X? Why is it always UMN's regional? Why not Duluth...SCSU....MSU....BSU? Is it simply a matter of the X making the call on which school they place a bid with?

I was in and out of the broadcast last night; but the play of the game/turning point for me was in the first when Duluth was getting set to go on their 5x3 PP. Stecher was forced to take the draw after LJ was tossed. He immediately drew a penalty after working his butt off at the drop of the puck. The 5x3 goes to a 4x3, and consequently we go into the intermission with a 2 goal lead instead of it being 2-1 (or worse) and Duluth carrying all the momentum.

When you graduate a class like last year's you have a lot of returning forwards put into new roles.

The NCHC is basically replacing the first two shooters of the shootout with a 3x3 OT session. The shootout portion then becomes "sudden death," and can end after the first shooters.

Actually I believe the first 5 minutes of OT will be NCAA standard 5x5, not 4x4.

They mentioned on NHL network last night that BOS offered 6 years somewhere around $5.5 AAV to Hamilton, and he ended up signing for 6 and $5.75AAV with Calgary. It's possible the writing was on the wall that Dougie was looking for a change and they got what they could. The money wasn't that far apart.

Jack Edwards is awesome, obviously, because he calls Bruins games on NESN. Not trying to turn this into a Bruins thread...really...I'm not. On a side note...during one of NESN's broadcasts of "The Instigators" this past year, Jack went on a mini-rant about how he thought the Fighting Sioux logo was the best in college hockey and how it was a crying shame we had to give it up. Loved it!
