  1. Yep. By the time Mac got to the puck in the corner after knocking Ortega down, the nearest Omaha guy had only made it back to the top of the near circle.
  2. Sorry, but all five Omaha skaters were on the far side and there was no threat. Mac cross-checked him on his way to the puck. Just go get the puck.
  3. But there was no scramble on this particular play, and the puck was nowhere near the crease. The puck was slowly rolling to a vacant corner, and if Mac hustles over there instead of hitting Ortega he gets the puck and clears the zone. Gotta be smarter than that.
  4. Sure, I get it, but the player has to be the one in control and not give an official the opportunity to make a bad call. Ortega was not even a threat to get the puck on that play. The puck was reversed softly to a vacant corner. Go get the damn puck Mac!
  5. That's why this one stings. They battled back only to let a lapse in discipline cost them points.
  6. A penalty is a penalty. Maybe we shouldn't make questionable plays in non-scoring situations???
  7. Blame the stupid lack of discipline, not the refs. What team in their right mind gets down 5 x3 in OT? Disappointing because they worked hard to get it tied and got nothing to show for it.
  8. He was away from the boards and hit from behind. If that's not 5 I don't know what is.
  9. It's difficult to assess, because when I look back and see a guy like Matt Frattin listed on the '07-'08 team, I think of the Matt Frattin from the '10-'11 team, even though he wasn't nearly the same player. Same could be said for Trupp and Malone. I like our current group just fine. For me it's been a while since I felt this confident about lines 3 & 4. When we can put 21-13-14 out there as our 3rd unit and they control play for 90 seconds it's a pretty good indicator of the level of talent on the forward group. The ability to work hard is a talent in its own right, too.
  10. Why all the ASG hate? We all know there won't be any defense, but nobody forces people to watch it. I watched both the skills competition and the game with my kids, and we enjoyed it a lot. Sure, it wasn't hockey in its purest form, but that's not the point. My girls ate it up! I'd say overall it was a very positive experience for me & my girls, even though it was more of a sideshow. The one thing I will say is watching the skills competition on DVR is the ONLY way to do it. Too much BS to fast-forward through to get to the actual meat of the broadcast.
  11. This ^ And why is it such an injustice for one guy to vote us #2 when the KRACH and PWR currently agree with him?
  12. I realize Minnesota is struggling and in the danger zone in the PWR, and I take as much enjoyment as anyone in the current state of things; but you'd think Sioux fans would be the first group to understand that there is still a lot of hockey to be played and that teams still have time to right the ship and save their season at this point. While they certainly can't afford any more slip-ups in their conference games, Minnesota has a pretty good opportunity to help themselves at the North Star College Cup this weekend.
  13. Hey-oh! The other day, after giving her bedroom walls the final coat, I asked her if she wanted to sit and watch it dry, or go watch the Bruins. Her reply was "That would be like watching the Red Wings, let's go watch the B's!" Again, quite insightful! Edit: Copyrigt Goon, all rights reserved.
  14. Best comment of the night was by my 8-year-old daughter. While in the middle of hooting and hollering about some random play, my youngest daughter said "don't worry, dad, it's only college hockey." I turned to her and said college hockey mattered the most to me because it was my favorite, and then I asked her what hockey she likes best. She replied with "the NHL, obviously." I followed that by asking her why, to which my oldest said "because they don't just shoot the puck into the boards all the time!" Quite insightful, I thought.
  15. I don't see us winning tomorrow if we can't figure out how to break the puck out better and also keep the puck for longer than 5 seconds in the offensive zone.
  16. I am too. He was a heart-and-sould Bruin...kind of like Thornton, but I think they were fine letting Shawn go. It seems like they're still dealing with losing Boychuck. If Seidenberg and Chara were playing up to their "potential," it might not seem like such a glaring loss; but Seids hasn't been very impressive this year and Chara is definitely aging.
  17. Hopefully they've realized the conference breakup was a huge mistake, a la New Coke, and we can go back to WCHA Classic and CCHA classic.
  18. Last night was a good win...so was the game against Nashville...so was the game against Detroit...but the big question is what are they going to follow it up with? I'll be happy if they don't follow it up with their worst game of the season (to date) which has seemed to be the trend lately.
