On a more comical direction. I have heard commercials for this guy for several years. He claims to help stop smoking or weight loss (has claimed 100% sucess). Maybe he has a technique for staff to win on the road against ranked teams!

Take away block punt, INT, KO return. 28-24 last year. However you are correct, should have been a way closer game. With our two turnovers maybe a two TD loss today but still competitive. 70 or so yards at half rushing, not so much 2nd half. Our D could not get them to punt (I think they had only 2). We were out coached today (probably an understatement) in my opinion.
-
You were right I was off by 9. First few series you can tell we could not get off blocks/ force double teams with D-Line. Also no pass rush is certain death against good teams.
-
Only one team ever came back by two scores at Fargo and that was SDSU. Offensive needs to move the ball, more our defense is out their, more it can be exploited by a good team.
-
We look flat. If D-line cannot command a double team. NDSU may score over 50. Total flip of energy from last year. As for offense this is the best defense we have seen since Iowa State. Our last 4 wins were against poor to average defense.

Well with newness on the staffs lots of possibilities. Trust me I want us to win but not sure how much I am sold on our defense. Meaning we have still given up big plays. The good is we have created turnovers. UND fan me thinks 34-31 UND last second field goal. Especially if we play a clean game coaching staff to players and no turnovers. Devils Advocate me 35-16 NDSu we kick 3 FG instead of punching it in and one drive killing turnover. Hopeful me is we have a player rise up and make that one play that get us that statement road win!

Yes, but not the Dale Lennon that talked to SIU before NDSU game in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Or like Parcells told Lotysz when he played for the Jets. In an interview I heard Greg something like Parcell’s said you don’t have an ounce of athletic ability but you get sh!t done. Thats exactly what we need this team to do Saturday! Just get it done!

NDSU’s D will be ready to go since it’s a home game and there will be energy there. Our defense last year was pretty rough, however, at home against NDSU they played as well as could be with the home crowd providing energy (plus feeding off the special teams and Offense). NDSU’s D will be better. Our D is on the road, and though improved we do give up too many big plays. Need to make NDSU earn their yards and get some TO’s. All three phases need to be solid for us to win.

I agree with geaux, when teams won in Fargo they start off strong, made Fargo more one dimensional and matched their physicality. We start off slow it will be a blood bath. I don’t follow NDSU but I believe SDSU two years ago is the only team to came back from being down by 2 scores in Fargo since their move to FCS. We have been out scored on average by 25 there. We for sure need solid passing, last year when we went spread, they kept 4 DL and one LB (don’t think they thought we could run on their line) This year they won’t make that mistake. So it is imparative we keep them honest with a solid passing game.

I’m sure with no timeouts, they did not want to rush FG unit. I did wish we use our big WR on a corner route.!
-
If I recall one punt only and that resulted a fumble and flipped field. Their safeties are hell bent to to stop run, we have enough WR speed to win one on one. If we can (as said by others) get a WR with more elite speed, with continued OL development and run game. We could get something sustainable on offense. Defense is improving just need to keep progressing to the good each week. As for the game, D needs a stop and with another score hopefully we can see Jerry run a few series with our starting line and work in more depth.

Rather have 4 for over 200 than 4 for 20
-
No let up D, let’s get a pick 6 and get over 50 by half!
-
Did they have 10 on D?
-
I was hoping defensively they would be better prepared for an athletic QB that can run,” but that was just a dream, that was just a dream and now we have to win in a shootout, we have to score more points than them.” REM melody hit me during in the quotation marks.

Maybe Butler had lots of Seniors and Grad students….(my attempt at sarcasm)
-
For the present need to play much better today!!!
-
The crowd helped on stopping that series.
-
-
Looks like offense came ready to play. Defense let’s settle down and get the ball back!
-
Crowd should get us doing…. expecting - 3 score win Hoping - plenty of backups get quality reps Demanding - keep attacking with backups in
-
My hope (it is a hope) we see more QB runs in the bigger games. NDSU typically in the past did not run the QB unless it was against a better team. There was a few times during the few games where it looked if he kept the handoff he could hit the edge and get some yards.

Any Simon is better than over thinking and hesitant Simon.

I will try not be too critical, but if we cannot be more effective with the pass. Good teams will load the box and not worry about the pass game, because their corners will be more athletic than what we have seen so far this year. Danny with Tommy was effective enough with the pass that kept teams from loading up the box because even on 3rd and 3 teams knew we could still pass the the first. On the positive, I like the twisting we are doing in defense, San Diego has beef and bull rushing beef is not a good recipe. Lastly the players (or coaches) have to play to win the game. We look like we are and playing not to lose.
