I agree with a lot of what you say and others. When Bubba does retire or leaves. Hopefully the foundation he leaves springboards UND to a Natty like what happened with Duluth in D2 when he left.

Possibly during player, coaching and possibly AD evaluations on staff people were a little more honest on what they “the team” needed to do and be able to achieve their goals next season.

Unless the told differently from higher up we will not get new D staff. We do need a shake up, 2 years of poor D and terrible 3rd down defense requires something to change on that side of the ball. We got a least one NG with transfer portal and helped. Still need more help on D-line with portal unless the guys we have can fill that roll. We just don’t have the personnel to rush 4 (I hope next year). If we don’t have a rush we need to cover …… teams seem to salivate over our zone (last year we did not have the spread to cover man….SIU last year comes to mind). 5 man rush with blitz did not do much this year. All out blitz and we seem to lose on the jump ball throws. Long story short, either fix with portal (not full scale) or some new Defensive coaches. 2 years of a glaring problem is already 1.5 years too long.

Need another dude at Nose and develop some physical d-ends. I still remember when we were D2 and a 3 to 4 man pressure schemes brought a rush on UNI QB and the coach commented on that he did not expect that from a D2 team! If we would be in the middle of FCS on 3rd down defense, I believe, we would have about 2 extra wins in each the last two years.

I agree about the run game comments, the Passes that I did not mind was play action which had worked fine, because they had to honor the run and if it was not completed, Tommy could react and throw it away.

Instead of 7-5, I would love 75’s like Deacon Jones, Howie Long and Mean Joe Green on our Defensive front!

Two years in a row with poor 3rd down defense and defense in general. If I would guess if Bubba stays (AD does not do a buyout or he does not retire) The AD needs to demand the Defense and staff would be overhauled. USD kept coach but put in a new “O” coordinator, got new assistants like Bagnell from Mary. Their offense wasn’t great but it sure complemented their Defense.

If we give up another score, we may be done. It’s been a long, long time we came back from 14 points down.

Not sure how we match up with our D with their O. Offense will need scores in the first half and keep it going 2nd half. Need to run the ball well and keep their offense off the field. When teams have long drives against, it takes longer for us to get into offensive rhythm. We need to do that to them. We joined the Valley so we can be bullies in the trenches when we go out of conference. I’m hoping for the Hogs to do this, this Saturday.

I wouldn’t call it a boat race, special teams and INT gave UND 21 points. Z and Luke are banged up, and NDSU is playing more focused football. Going to NDSU with them a week off preparing against a team they already played is an NDSU advantage IMO.

Hopefully he was shamed from last year. Larsen would have UND in (if not blow out loss to non playoff UND would hurt having a decent seed), YSU could get in over head to head win over SIU unless they are passed by because SIU FBS win but 28 point loss to YSU may negate that. It will be interesting tomorrow. 13 seed or higher MVC team not making it would be unheard of.

Thank you Seniors! You played your butts off! Should be playoffs. ISU season was a lot like ours in 2021 5-6 season. Many one score loses.

They found what works in offense, need someone on D to make the RB fumble or bait a pick on the rpo look.

Well that 4th down ISU conversion shows a strong arm QB can throw a 50/50 ball off back foot. Tommy pick at USD off back foot. Unlike UNA game, Rudy’s last year, players are playing hard, not dejected and wanting to make playoffs. Hopefully staff has good adjustments and win the 2nd half.

Defense is struggling, offense is to blame too, 3 and outs will not give out D rest. If we don’t drive and score and have another 3 and out we will be down by two scores. I cannot remember in the last few years we came back by two scores.

The last few seasons we get a chance that UND can make a statement road win then this Tommy Boy scene jumps in my head.

Yeah we could be up by more and they also had their chances. I could have eaten right and be skinny, can’t change the past, just finish strong. D needs to continue to make plays and not worry about F-ups. Let’s get a stop and play to win!

Throwing off back foot does not help, especially not having a strong arm. Defense needs to step up.

Danny was a senior I believe the last time we won in Vermilion in 2008. 34-31 OT win. 15 years later why not again?

True however Western Illinois loses to NDSU 59-7 w/out Carson (UND lost 34-9 with Carson) and was the 5th team in from Valley because that quality loss was better then UND home lose to Idaho State or UND’s FBS win against Wyoming.
