  1. I agree, Just like NDSU week Offense-Defense-Special Teams-Preparation/coaching led them to victory, unfortunately, UNI week where the Offense-Defense-Special Teams-Preparation/coaching led to the defeat.
  2. Tonight Washington is losing to Arizona State at home after a big win (and fans storming the field). Now how coaches have get the players to respond and make adjustments to win. Being flat after a win happens but over several years we almost never recover to win after a poor start and that’s tough to stomach as a fan.
  3. I never said or implied “good loss” , my point of not being upset is if this team played/coached their butts off and lost. Disappointed yes, but not upset because of the effort and team was in position to win. This game I felt was over after the fumble, there seemed no energy from players and coaches. If we are a playoff team that should not happen.
  4. Don’t get me wrong, I felt we should win, UNI was not going to be a pushover, however how we lost is unacceptable.
  5. Last year. We fought out butts off and made a game of it at Weber despite being outmatched. We beat a playoff caliber Youngstown last year on the road. I was expecting a win (though UNI would be fighting for their playoff lives) or at least a team coming out after a crappy half to make a game out of it. Instead we played flatter than we did at SIU last year. Long story short is I’m not totally upset with the loss, but as a fan how we lost and appear to show no fight is the most disappointing.
  6. SDSU started off crappy here last year and turned it around. I know we are not SDSU, but if we are a top 10 team team….we can turn it around.
  7. Special teams and turnovers made it a blowout. I also am not teasing my NDSU friends, if we play again it will be closer but I still like our chances if (win out no doubt) we play them at home.
  8. I remember both playoff games. 1995 UND team was depleted at corner had a short corner compared to Cheatham on the other side. That was the year Rob Berthiaume passed prior to start of season. 1994 playoff game was a defensive battle.
  9. We come flat, SIU last year all over again. We start slow and play decent D, NAU road game of last year. We play well early, I do see a one to two score win like Youngstown last year. It will be a physical game. If we expect to make playoffs and go beyond first round, we must win this game!
  10. I do find it funny when some of their fans complained that our fans rushed the field. Don’t they (fans that complained) watch college football, when teams beat a higher ranked team or have not beaten a team in a long while fans do that. Coach Prime’s win over TCU, or yesterday Oregon missed FG and Washington fans rushed the field. That’s the excitement of college football! Only complaint I would agree with is flashing horns down in front of their player would be unsportsmanlike and 15 yards, but did not affect the outcome of the game. Less than two hours and focus on UNI. Coaches will be focused, players need be focus and realize UNI season is on the line this week and they will not quit especially at home.
  11. I thought it would be tight because of our run defense in the past and play action that they could run from that. 49-17 in the 4th, I was like this is a historical victory. The coaches definitely got them prepared for this one.
  12. Only one noticeable bad snap and a sack on miscommunication (that is what it looked like) they out physical them today! Hopefully that confidence spells over next week!
  13. Rocky’s excuse was scholarship reduction that the ended D2 dynasty, this FCS dynasty ending will be blamed on the transfer portal.
  14. Saw this on TV, when I saw this, I felt the energy and team is ready….air was ripe for opening of a case of &ss!
  15. Great on all phases, as an o-line guy it was awesome to see us run and win the battle of the trenches and defense playing fast and getting off blocks. When we blocked the punt, it reminded me a little when KJ Coughlin blocking a punt and got us rolling in the Fargo Dome. Seniors wanted this and, it showed!
  16. 1993 we got over the hump, I’m hoping History repeats 30 years later and we do it again in 2023!
  17. Good team win, nice to blow out teams that we should. Red’s injury concerns me along with Bo. Snaps we clean we did not run lots of trickery on Offense. Skokna looked fast on his TD run, which was great to see. Back-ups played well in mop up duty. I expected a 4 score wind and we exceeded that. We were able to get them off the field (7-20 on 3rd/4th down I think). Defense played with confidence (albeit Western Illinois is bad). I hoped to see a different QB to run wildcat then Q (I thought Trey, but Romfo looked good running it). Next week, Need to continue to get SU off the field on third down again. My guess they will try to be like SDSU and out physical us on the defensive front the run. Offense we need to run effectively, our offense gets decent chunk yards when we run play/pass or misdirection with a good run game. Wanting to see History repeat itself and we get a 1993 moment that ends the streak and gets UND over the hump!
  18. If he led him it could have been picked, he probably could have ran for the first. Unless you were not talking of the boot.
  19. My hope for this game is dominating the trenches both sides of the ball. But most importantly having defense stop them at least 2/3’s of the time on 3rd down. We are a ball control team and if we cannot get them off the field it will be closer than it should be. Being home again I’m expecting a 4 TD win.
  20. I would respectfully disagree, as I said, I recall our d-line was a MASH unit. We got slaughtered by Eastern Washington and with the decimation in the trenches we rebounded and won some big games at home, but bubbles burst at Nichols in the playoffs. I am fairly certain we were putting red shirts in for 4 game shots so not to lose their illegibility. Maybe my memory is poor but, I don’t recall Schmidt leaving; people saying problem solved. I did recall people nervous about Holinka’s hire.
  21. He was with the DeBoer at Southern Illinois and then went with home to Fresno. Eric I thought did a fine job especially the last year where injuries depleted the D-Line and yet the defense was respectable. If I recall they played redshirted freshman to fill in on the since it was a MASH unit of a defensive line.
  22. I don’t know, if it’s Feeney or Jerry (toward end of year not to burn red shirt) I like an idea of a running athletic QB that can give defenses fits or at least off balanced with QB run and still have our regular offensive schemes. Hopefully Feeney has some shiftiness like his dad did at SU. I am not advocating a platoon system, just packages to utilize our talents (we do this with wr and rb’s, I was just thinking if our staff can do this at QB.
  23. I am envisioning what we did with Brock a few years back.
  24. I said earlier, let’s give Feeney a go for a series or so and have more design QB runs for him (or our most dynamic running/passing qb). From that teams will not be certain if it will be run or pass. Pretty safe to say when Q is in thought is inside run or over thrown pass. Danny uses the talents of our other skill guys, do it for QB. Some said Tommy plans on coming back. If so Feeney may go or more at that position. I am off the ledge from yesterday, the next few weeks will see (to me) how we can coach up and adjust what we do for the rest of the season. Need to beat NDSU or 7-4 may not be enough depending on how conference plays out.
