  1. Duncs from Vandy! Is this the first shorty of the year?
  2. I would just like to point out that I am "taking one for the team" and listening on the radio rather than watching the webcast...
  3. It only took me, like, 800 clues, but I figured it out, too.
  4. He is recovering from an injury...
  5. The Spirit Lake chairwoman has gone on record stating "we have more important things to worry about" and it looks to me like that is where she is focusing her energies. I am trying very hard to be respectful and not type what I think Ron His Horse is Thunder is doing...
  6. Personally, I kind of like "Warriors". Yeah, I know that Winona State is the Warriors, but soon they will be in a different division, anyway. As I recall, and the video at sporting events reminds me, UND adopted the name to honor the Sioux warriors, so why not continue to honor those warriors without creating association to the Sioux tribal members that were on campus and railing on TV the other night? I would think that a graphic could be created (like a shield or something) that can't be directly linked to Native Americans, but can still honor the spirit that UND chose to associate with its athletic teams. Just a thought...
  7. They are siblings: Link
  8. Good luck! Don't set your house on fire like the hundreds of people using turkey fryers incorrectly! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
  9. Yeah, I can't do math.
  10. As has been said before, I believe that this year can be potentially the toughest year for recruiting. Simply because this group of guys have ZERO chance of seeing post season. I am happy that there will be more scholarship $$$, but I think that other coaches will use the postseason as a leveraging tool on recruits (rightfully so...). That being said, Lennon is a coach that guys love to play for, so I am not too worried.
  11. What I think is interesting about the counting of "tri-college" students is that I remember a few years ago when on the news an official at MSU-M (yes I know this is vague, but I honestly don't remember the title or name of the person) spoke out about how NDSU counts the "tri-college" enrollments. He was pretty much stating that NDSU gets all these accolades for growing enrollment, biggest college in F-M area, etc, when so many of the students were only taking 1 class from NDSU and paying all of their tuition and fees to MSU-M and Concordia. Apparently (talking to people I know that work in higher ed in the F-M area) it caused a big uproar, and the story was pulled from the 10:00 news. I will admit that I could be wrong, but I was told that only if a student paid a certain amount of student fees could they be included in UND's enrollment, so most of the correspondence students aren't included, only the ones that are taking a high enough number of credits to pay the student fee dollars. If UND did count every singe correspondence student, the enrollment would be much, much higher. My guess on the info reported to the OPE, one person reported it wrong, and the next person "just did what was done before", inadvertantly continuing the error.
  12. I happen to be a fan of the "Separated at Birth?" signs myself.
  13. Donovan Alexander is from Winnipeg. Add a few more athletes from the 'peg and...
  14. Hopefully this doesn't sound rude (because I definitely am not trying to be), but... If you have to keep your eyes peeled to see it, there isn't enough publicity. What about having Sweeney announce it on TV (somehow, don't know how that works)? Or having Josh Morton mention it on his blog and regular emails to Fighting Sioux Club members? (that's free, at least) If some group is willing to pay for the paper (or if the Ralph is generous), have the little square handouts put in the cupholders of the Ralph.. Remember, there is only one more home series before Green/White weekend, and it is over Thanksgiving weekend, coming up soon. Those are just some thoughts and ideas I had this morning...take 'em or lose 'em
  15. I can't say I have any personal experience with the inner-workings of the athletics department. But, I can say from other personal experiences that some people can be very good at the "work" part of a supervisory position, but not the "leadership" portion. It is one thing to keep a department running, but quite another to be a good leader to the staff. I have had bosses that are fantastic at "putting out fires" but aren't able to acknowledge even the smallest of successes of their employees. Believe me, morale takes a hit real fast. I get the impression from various conversations, articles, and this message board that Bunning may have been one of those people. His ability to bring the department back in the black is definitely commendable, but that shouldn't cancel out the fact that he couldn't take care of his people at the same time. Some people can do it, some people can't. Hopefully the next AD will be someone who can both "lead" and "run" UND athletics. Speaking of Harmeson, I am curious to see what is going to happen after a new president is named. Will the new president want to keep the "special VP" set up, or want to have the athletics department report directly to him/her.

    Playoffs

    Tackling drills all week long!!!
  18. I don't know you, but obviously other people on this board do... With that, couldn't you say that with pretty much any check there's a chance that a player's head could be drilled into the ice? Physics tells me that if a person is hit from the side while their back is to the boards, they will fall shoulder first into the ice. But, if a person is hit from behind into the boards, their head will hit first. Not the same thing. Maybe Dirty will show maturity, because so far the fanbase hasn't seen it from you.
  19. The chant doesn't sound all that great when it's "one...we want more"
  20. So LaPoint had 150 people see him get booted? Nice. Bummer...I was hoping JP would get another shutout.
  21. So they sent everyone on the ice? Well, except goalies...
  22. Kaiper! Look at him grin...you know he's just saying "bring it"
  23. ref with a boo-boo
