Yeah Sioux Sioux!
-
You have just made a blanket assumption about an entire group of people based on a couple incidents.
-
Just make sure you include in that meeting all of the name-calling that you contributed. I have been trying to just read, as I feel as though I am not the best at conveying my opinions through Internet message boards, but this was just a little bit too much for me. You state that you wanted a dialogue, and initially I was glad to see a different perspective. But then your posts quickly denigrated to name calling and using the same racist assumptions you accuse members of this forum of possessing. If you want people to value your opinion, you must show the same respect that you expect for yourself. There are a lot of intelligent, well-educated people that choose to read and post on this forum. Here is hoping that in the future you don't employ the same ignorance you rail against by making assumptions about a group of people that you don't know much about. Good luck to you in your future endeavors!

Sorry, RW77, but all I could think of once I came to this spot on the list is Adam Sandler. It's an interesting list, though.

MHO: The university reaction is due to the personal attacks on Kupchella and Harmeson.

I know I am going to have the younger members freak out about this, but...I honestly don't see how having all of the students standing makes a better atmosphere. I do, however think that if the student section could have a bunch of coordinated cheers (that they scream while standing) that would make a difference in having a "home ice advantage" at the Ralph. It seems like the last couple seasons there haven't been hardly any group cheers. Even "you sit" and "goal...sieve" seem to have only occasional appearances. I would love to see more group chants from the students, which would in turn make the season ticket holders cheer more, too. That is definitely something that I would like to see.

I think that statement should be directed toward the media, not the coaches and AD. In my opinion, all of the statements about the game stem from news reporters that, in trying to get a story, keep dredging out the "will they play?", "do you want them to play?" questions. Last night I saw a preview for the Fox news in which the headline was: "UND has a new Athletic Director, but what will it mean to NDSU?" Please. I haven't seen where any statements about the rivalry made by the UND AD and/or coaches (or even people in NDSU athletics) have been introduced without having been asked the question by reporters.

The LAST thing I want to do is get sucked into a Sioux-Bison trollfest, but for whatever reason I felt the need to chime in. It is my personal opinion that rings should be reserved for national championships alone. If you see a player (or former player) with a ring, you automatically figure (or at least I do) that that person has achieved a national championship...they played for and won something great, an achievement few can share. It is a way for that individual to show that they were a part of something special, members of an elite group. If it gets to the point where everyone starts giving out rings for everything under the sun, championship rings are going to have the same importance as participation ribbons, IMHO. NDSU can give their players whatever they want, it is not my business or really my concern. I personally just don't like the idea of having rings that symbolize anything other than a national championship. As far as whether the Sioux and Bison should play again, most threads dealing with the subject leave a bad taste in my mouth. There is good natured rivalry ribbing, and then there is pettiness. It seems like rational people are reduced to ignorant, obnoxious jerks. I am not saying anyone here is an obnonxious jerk, but I would guess that if we were all face-to-face, the conversation would have a different tone. If the two teams were to play again, I would want to see it when both teams are on a level playing field, both in terms of scholarship and transition to FCS. Feel free to continue with the debate.

I know what you are saying (well, I think I do). I always try to avoid stepping on the logo when I walk into the Ralph, mostly because I read somewhere that Eagle feathers are sacred in Native American culture. I feel like if we are going to use the logo in the way it is intended, we should also respect some of the culture that the logo entails. But, of course, how do you keep 11,000 people from stepping on such large Eagle feathers in between periods? Aside from removing the marble logos from the floor, it would be a logistical nightmare.

Just a little teaser of football to (hopefully) help make the off season go by faster... I think (not 100% sure) that the Smith brothers played with Mike Ebanks in junior college. I do know that they were here last year, but Coach Lennon told them he planned to wait until this spring to add them to the roster. It was nice to see them out there today, they are both really nice guys. And they are identical twins. I thought Hellevang did a pretty good job in the two punts I saw. Hopefully that translates to game situations, too. I was sitting fairly close to Weston and a bunch of other now former players. It had to be bittersweet for them, but it was fun to see #18 cheer for his brother after the touchdown, which by the way was a really nice pass from Freund. I thought I read or heard from some of the coaches that they will have to trim the roster after spring, one of the not-so-great aspects of going FCS. Is it August 28 yet?

True, true. I got my tickets for Sullivan Arena through the UND athletic department, and was excited to see they were right behind the Sioux bench (although I could have really sat anywhere, with all the open seats). Someone told me that more people show up for the ECHL team (the Alaska Aces) than the UAA games, and it really wouldn't take many more people to do that. The other highlight was seeing Chris Fournier in the stands. But, it is a reason to go to Alaska...

I don't see anything about the football national championship...

Well, I am back from Denver and finally caught up enough at work to visit ss.com. All in all, it was a great trip. I wish that Thursday went a little bit better, but oh, well. Trip highlights: -Being at MSP airport Thursday morning with A TON of other Sioux fans -The dude that sat next to me on the plane who wasn't a UND grad, but the son of UND grads with a suite. He was really cool to chat with -Seeing Brooklyn's be, oh, I don't know, about 500 people over capacity before the game. That was a lot of green in one place! -Having a starter from the Denver Broncos wave and say hi to me (Kuper!) -Listening to the random playlist of the BC band. I don't know how many bands play both "Take On Me" by Ah-Ha and "The Next Episode" by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg -The funny arm pump moves made by the Nortre Dame (and later Sioux) fans when their band played certain songs -Touring the Budweiser brewery in Ft. Collins with at least seven other Sioux fans -Spending time with my best friend from college -Seeing Meeechigan lose. Trip lowlights: -The Sioux-BC game has been discussed ad nauseum, but I just wish that there would have been more chances for the 5,000 UND fans to cheer, it definitely could have been a home-ice atmosphere -Going to the New Belgium brewery only to be turned away because it was filled with CSU students starting their weekend -Waiting 45 minutes at the airport for a shuttle to take me to my car Sunday night -Catching up on work! I don't regret heading down there at all. The Sioux hockey team always gives me something to be proud of, and I am grateful for the roller coaster ride that was the 2007-08 season.

I think the Dramatic Chipmunk (Prairie Dog) is funny... -
I am driving down to the Cities Wednesday after work and then flying into Denver Thursday morning. I am either staying at a hotel with friends or staying with my friend that lives in Thornton, CO. I can't wait!!!!
-
Well, now I have a Friday evening in Denver open on my calendar.
-
I hear ya, but Malone did score against the Gophers...
-
I think we are on the same flight back to MSP, maybe the same flight out. I am driving down from GF Wednesday night. I am trying to figure out a place to park...any suggestions from the "experts"? Is it better to go with a Park and Fly outfit? Some hotels have a "Stay and Fly" deal where you can leave your vehicle there and take their shuttle to the airport. Has anyone tried this? Thanks for any help! OR...any really amazing Sioux fan willing to let me park my car at their house? (kidding, kidding)

That's the string I want to continue...
-
I did... Who DOES that? I am guessing that it didn't happen Saturday night, or Gwoz would have had a coronary.
-
Yeah Sioux Sioux!!!

The Sioux play the early game.

LOL! I debated starting a thread when I discovered that ss.com was back up, but I knew it had to come from AZSIOUX. I am looking at my Frozen Four tickets and grinning like a fool. Not sure I can sleep tonight...that game nearly killed me. CONGRATS SIOUX!
