When a team consisting of 80? players has multiple players arrested for dealing over the span of 6 months by a drug task force as the result of investigations and multiple raids there is a cultural problem on the team. I am in no way saying that every player on the team deals or that every player on the team uses or but I do know that it has been far more prevalent than any of us would like or that Bubba and the university can tolerate. When a situation gets to a certain point there is guilt by association, and as someone earlier pointed out the rules and expectations on a team are different than the legal system.

Any more info on this anyone?

I agree with the accountablity. I am not sure how much worse the offense really was vs last season. First downs, Yards, Points. do you have those stats readily available? The defense was far different in rushing yards allowed and points allowed and defensive points scored.

I think a gundy is largely correct. If Rodgers, Harris and Larson don’t go down with injuries D would be much different. CB and ILB incredibly important in an attacking style D. If you can’t stop the run, everything else goes to !@#$.

If you were healthy and could not play ILB for us this season I would say move to a different position or move to a place you may have a chance to play.

2014 was the killer recruiting class for ILB and OLB, all would have been RJr or Sr this season. They were all busts. 2015 & 2016 look good so far. What happened with Geier & Steiger this season? They seemed to disappear off the radar with Murray.

It is an unusual freshman who can start on any college football team. At an FCS level it would most likely have to be someone who for one reason or another was overlooked by FBS schools.

I agree with this, Bubba can turn it around. There are variables, but he needs a minimum of 6 wins next year to survive. New sheriff in town(Kennedy &newAD). If there are more substantial off field problems the end could come sooner.

You don’t understand recruiting or high school kids. Why would a prospective student athlete care what a bunch of fans, boosters, ex-players and sometimes trolls write on a blog. You give all of us and prospective student athletes way too much credit. recruiting is about the relationship between college coach and prospective athlete which many times is preceded by relationship between college coach and athletes high school coach. What is talked about in here is much the same way some of us would talk about UND football if we all had a few drinks and were hanging out.

Losing Harris and the ILB situation caused that. With a better tandem at ILB throughout the season we could have stopped the run, forced the other team to pass and blitzes when the did pass with guys who could get home. Holds the key for next season, Inproved ILB play and CB play.

For better or worse Bubba ball is the offense scoring 3 tds and the defense scoring 1, with an additional td or two if the D creates fantastic field position for the O more than 1 time. Bubba ball will not win many games when the D is giving up 40 plus points and that was proven this season.

17 year old high school football players would not do research when buying a car either.

I appreciate your comments, but as sikatoka pointed out, indifference would be the real enemy here. I for one am much more worried about the culture surrounding the team at this point. I started hearing disturbing things during last season and now IMO the team culture can best be described as somewhere between bad and a train wreck. The x’s and o’s will work itself out only if the culture gets squared away. I appreciate the hours the coaches put in, but I also don’t know anyone who is a high achiever in their life that has not sacrificed something.

IMO most recruits are NOT reading these boards. You really think 17 year olds are taking the time to read message boards? Not a chance,maybe a few parents but i doubt that very much either.

I would have been surprised if when asked the question today, he said yes I am going to replace coaches soon. With all the other !@#$ going on right now, the staff needs to solidify commitments, get a few more guys they want and make sure they don't lose any of the current players and red-shirts they want to keep around.

I agree with your reasoning, a new coach and staff would likely set us back a year or two. The problem is do we really know where we are at right now? I am worried that some of the guys we need in the future may leave because things are such a mess internally. Bubba needs to clean house this week, reiterate the expectations and then get back to winning football games. i think the potential is there to rebound in a big way, but only if there is crystal clear focus.

Funding for championship rings should be done through additional booster fundraising IMO.
