I agree wholeheartedly with your post. I think next year and subsequent years the defense could be lights out with the depth that we will have. I also think for recruiting, fan excitement, player/coach morale we have to find a way to salvage 5 more wins this season. If that comes down to burning redshirt(Larson), does it get done? I would guess it depends on part on the return of hunt and/or Rodgers.

This team was much closer to what is expected vs Montana state than South Dakota. First defensive drive was a three and out which reminded me of last years defense. The first offensive drive was best drive in awhile and had a touchdown called back because of a bad call. The defense was much better getting the bobcats to third down but several times came up a yard or two short. We just needed 4-5 stops and a couple of offensive drives and the result could have been different. Have to find a way to cause some negative plays for the opposing offense. Not sure of the exact results, but don't recall many negative plays for the bobcats. It's getting closer. Hopefully will find. Few of those needed plays vs Davis.

The defense is not good right now and that is what BUbba builds around. Offense not good either, which is making defensive problems even worse.

This is basically the same dline that won the Big Sky last season. They don't seem to be making plays either.

IMO they are close on some assignments, but a bigger problem overall is that when the linebackers are in the right spot they either can't make the play or the ball carrier gets another 2-5 yards after contact.

I feel like this is a huge problem. Nobody seems to take the bull by the horns when the chips are down. There is still time, but someone needs to get it going in the right direction and stop making excuses.

I don't disagree with your post I just don't think you are taking into account the degree nor depth of the injuries to this years team. 2016 team was a play away from making it into the national semi finals. why would there not be hype?

Anyone know what the scoop is with Murray? He gives good effort on most kickoffs. He looks like 5'11" to 6'0" and 225? Why don't they give him a shot?

Any chance for Hunt or Larson next week? Rastas plays hard but really struggled at times today. Gets bounced around pretty steadily. He and Jake getting dragged in tackles.

It all feeds on on itself. Schmidt wants to blitz 85% if the time. Much less effective when they are gouging us up the middle in first down for 5plus yards. Give MSU, credit for taking advantage of our undersized ILB, I believe #15 is a linebacker on the roster. Big guy taht can run north and south and did today. I don't think the DL is playing up to par, but even when the LBers are in position to make a play they are being dragged for a couple extra yards.

Pretty hard to win when you can't stop the other team running the ball and you can't run the ball. Not sure where we go from here? Does anyone have any idea when we get some if the injured oline and ilb back? Not excusing some of the coaching problems, just some major holes in key positions.

Defense can't stop the run and the offense running for 92 yards will not win another game this season.
