  1. What does that mean? You know something?
  2. i think you saw some of that vs Davis. Need to find a way to stretch the field offensively. Defense is more problematic with the ILB. I'm not sure Rastas would be 195 if you weighed him today adn even Jake 200? Now Jake is out which will probably even more problematic. I think Schmidt could do more sending the OLB on the edge to stir things up and maybe even drop Rastas back into safety coverage and Jake when he is back and bring cole and stewart. Have to figure something out. I think the ILB problems have exposed another problem with the DL, Many of the 3X3 deep just are not big enough IMO. Need DL al more shaped like tank and less like a big linebacker.
  3. Bubbaball is built on running the ball, controlling the clock and mixing in some play action passes. With the line injuries, running the ball was very tough until last week and even then much of the yardage was from 2 big runs for Santiago. On defense Bubbaball is about stopping the run and putting lots of pressure on the opposing qb through blitzes which forces lots of turnovers and the defense scoring lots of points. The last three games the offense has not been able to run the ball and the defense has not been able to stop the run, not putting the opposition in position where blitzing works as well. When we do blitz, we don't have the athletes or experience to get home. When you read Tom Miller's blog piece it really helps put it all in perspective. The injuries/retirement have made certain positions a weakness instead of a strength. IMO very few teams could have 60% of the starting OL out and 5 ILB out and be nearly as competitive. Think about how different if we had starting OL intact and O'brien and Rodgers were backed up by Larson and Hunt not to mention losing Harris for the season and Reyes for at least one game.
  4. Lots of quality players in suburban Chicago, Milwaukee, Indianapolis that UND can build a compelling case for.
  5. I was hoping a playoff run this year would make it easier to get some quality guys in Wisconsin and Illinois. Still can, just a little tougher than it was 9 months ago.
  6. I think that is a tough position to bring in quality transfers or JUCos
  7. Yeah, I think that could be categorized as a recruiting miss.
  8. Cam Hunt in lineup backing up Rastas. Also Neverman starting for Disterhaupt with Corby Richman as backup. ILB: 195lb RFr backed up by 210 lb RFr who has never played before. ILB: Sr RB who is backed up by a sophomore who was a true walk on. nothing against any of these guys, but I don't imagine Schmidt ever dreamt this would be his homecoming ILB lineup.
  9. IMO will play alot only if something happens to Santiago or Oliviera or maybe FB?
  10. Yes. I think the only roster spot vacated that won't be replaced by a potential upgrade would be at SS. Will be nice to run the ball with #300+ lineman and stop the run with #235 ILB.
  11. Yes.
  12. Lose Reyes, Studsrud, Disterhaupt, Stockwell, Mercer, Flowers, Dranka, Bell, Greely, Schmitz and Dussold. Reyes and Studsrud will be toughest to replace IMO. If the team is not decimated again by injuries should be a far better team than we had going into Utah.
  13. That is a bummer for Disterhaupt, hopefully nothing more serious. So will our starting ilb for awhile be 2 walkons? Rastas and corby?
  14. Have to find a way to deal with ILB mess or I am not sure we win another game. too important a position and affects the other so much.
  15. I must have missed that. When was article? Under the circumstances do you think that is still the case? If they think he can make a difference, I think I might pull it. Probably depends on Cam Hunt too.
  16. Not good. May need to hold a campus tryout for ilb this week. I think Hunt and larson have been practicing but not sure if they are ready. rastas neverman corby murray taht may be all that's left.
  17. Totally agree with you on that play call. I was just making the point about calling offense from behind and knowing you can't stop other team.
  18. In Rudys defense it is much tougher to call a game as an OC when the defense turns it into a track meet. When it got to 28-10, we were in big trouble and everyone at the game, watching the game, and certainly playing/coaching knew it.
  19. Anyone hear anything about severity of disterhaupt injury?
  20. This is craziness: The 651 yards of total offense were the most since the Aggies racked up 658 against New Mexico Highlands on Sept. 1, 2001, and fell 46 yards shy of the record of 697 set against Mesa State in the NCAA Division II playoffs on Nov. 25, 2000.
  21. I hate to say it but I agree with this, I think right now it is closer to the second part of the quote....laying down.
  22. Only true frosh that have had shirts pulled are blubaugh, Shannon, and adeotti.
  23. These are all coaching issues. The president is obviously very invested in athletics and moving UND up to being a true D1 flagship university. The room for error for Bubba and co will be less than it was not very long ago.
  24. I never thought I would see a Schmidt defense getting rocked like this. May get cole back next week, but is there anyone coming back soon that can help?
  25. I don't think reps in blowout games where guys are clearly overmatched helps the team, the guys or the future of the football team. Bubba Schmidt and Rudy need to change things up now. Losing in blowout fashion will reverse all the progress Bubba has made. Hard to motivate the fan base, hard to recruit and maybe hard to keep some of his guys that are redshirti g right now. Does anyone have any legitimate info as to when any of the injured oline and ilb may be back? Also Disterhaupt went out with injury in 4th qtr, anyone know how severe?
