NDUS Budget Cuts (changed name to be system-wide)
northernraider replied to Cratter's topic in Community
Thanks for the personal story. I just shows behind every cut is a person and a life being affected. Best luck finding another position. -
The Ralph already owns a liquor licenses and is a private organization. Why should they not have this lounge?
-
Well this letter is an interesting plot twist. Who says no to potential money?

Not my job to decide. NDSU managed to figure it out and seems to have been a good private/public partnership.

I wish UND would have invested more in the baseball program by building an attractive stadium similar to the Redhawks/NDSU facility. They could have actually charged admission and made it a fun, late spring family gathering. Who is to say GF could not have attracted some type of professional baseball or summer league team. Bismarck is getting a Northwoods team next year, why couldn't Grand Forks? Oh well.

But there is also an increase in online enrollment, which basically has very little cost to the University besides professor's time and technology infrastructure. -

Other schools are preparing for a budget reduction, but yet no one else has made an announcement on what is being eliminated. NDSU did some presser a couple months ago, but it was very vague and most of it was about how these cuts will affect NDSU federal funding. Dickinson State is trimming $1 Million. No word from Minot State, Mayville, or the community colleges. -

Anyone know what NDSU and other schools are cutting? Seems like UND is becoming a poster child for the deficit, when all universities are required to do the same thing. -
I think it is up to the conference affiliation and not NCAA. For example, BSU, UMD, & SCSU are all D2 except for hockey

I love baseball and hate to see it go away in the Grand Forks, but it is extremely difficult to be competitive on such a weather dependent sport in North Dakota.

speaking of Ben Blood, he is currently playing in Finland and appears to be having a rough year with suspensions.

Does the hockey buzz help football recruiting or hurt it

Like it or not, the Warriors will pull in a bigger audience than college hockey. BTW, anyone have the ratings for last night's game?

It appears her husband is a 3L student, so she will likely stick around one more year. I guess he hasn't learned abusing 911 is a crime.

Man, someone certainly lives in a constant fear and paranoid.

Tickets on sale for UND's home CIT matchup ://www.undsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=210801088 Tickets seem relatively cheap, but I don't expect a large crowd due to spring break.
