It's obvious to anyone that hockey is number one at UND, but to think SI is correct that hockey is the most followed sport or has the most fan support in the state would be incorrect IMO. If the people of the state were asked, I would bet far more follow some type of football or football team. Almost all small towns in ND don't have hockey nor do they care about it. That isn't saying that NDSU football is followed by more people than UND hockey, because I think the tradition UND hockey has, and it is the closest thing the state has to a professional sports team. UND hockey does have a huge following, probably bigger than what the SI stats say, but I would say more people in the state follow football than hockey and basketball might even sneak in someplace. I hope UND football continues the success they have had the last 10 years or so and wins a few more National Championships. If that happens I bet NDSU football would not even be #2 on the same survey. How could Jim Leclair not make the list of ND's greatest athletes? IMO he should be on the list ahead of several others.

Well thats a positive spin, if I was an NDSU fan I don't think I could look at it that way.

I completely agree, the Sioux tend to let up some after getting a lead. (Delta State) Lets hope they fix that problem today.

I would think having your brother as a coach might actually hurt your chances some, but thats just my opinion.

If I wasn't working tonight I would have listened in, instead I got to see a very good high school football game. Wow, life sucks pretty bad when I am forced to go watch football.

Sounds like we have another conspiracy!!!

I coach football and we don't have an equipment guy, and it is a lot of extra work. From setting up fields dealing with players equipment, washing the game uniforms, and so on. It really ends up being a lot to deal with, so a good equipment manager is very important. When I was in high school one of the custodians was in charge of the equipment, and he great. Allowed the coaches to actually do the job of coaching.

If you don't think equipment managers do anything, maybe you should trade places with one for a week, and see how much of nothing they do.

I see absolutely no problem with the fake punt. It isn't like the Sioux were trying to rub it in, they didn't even try to score. It seems to me they were trying to run the clock down while preserving a win and shutout. It is a huge boost to team moral when you can shut a team out for four quarters, and I think UND didn't want to give up a cheap TD and blow it. Their is also some possible coaching advantages from doing it, so I really don't see a problem.

I think you are probably correct about Dressler being the primary punt returner. I would guess that the coaches may be trying to ease him into the role because he's a freshman. It's hard to say though.
