  1. The stategy is for the defense to win you games while the offense doesn't hurt you and gets enough done to win. It's the first year and frankly the offense is disappointing but not surprising and the defense has exceeded my expectation by a long shot. I still think we are two years from competing at the top of the big sky and that is if everything goes well.
  2. The promblem is that you do not or will not see the big picture. It's is the entire philosophy that has been implemented. You may not like it and it isn't working well from an offensive standpoint, but we would be 0-4 if we had been trying to chuck it around on first down. The QB/WR play isn't consistent enough to try throwing the ball much more which would lead to turnover and more time for the opposing offenses to attack a defense that has played well this year.
  3. Snow Giants Ice Midgets
  4. Gunslingers Mavericks
  5. UND needs to be able to get a few first downs each possession in order hang with MSU. If the offense isn't a little better this week it could be ugly because it's a much better offense and the defense needs some time off the field.
  6. or audible and throw hot to the blitz side, not sure we have anyone capable of that.
  7. I agree with trying to keep the defense honest but throwing more incompletions will not keep the defense honest. In fact it would likely just show the other team they can fully ignore the passing game because I may be the worst I have ever witnessed to this point. The big issue right now is that UND isn't talented on offense but also isn't executing what is essentially a very simple college offense. What is a coach supposed to do? Run the ball, go 3 and out and occasionally get a first down or start passing more and give the opposing offense more time to attack the defense that to this point is the only bright spot so far this season. It is more about philosophy and they are doing what needs to be done in order to have a chance to win games. It's ugly and frustrating but I wasn't expecting a lot from the offense this season because of what we had coming back. I would actually like to see a few more short high percentage passes mixed in but between dropped and bad throws I don't think UND has anything that would be considered a high percentage pass.
  8. Not getting push in one bad thing but I can't figure out how on several run plays they couldn't get blocking assignments figured out. It isn't always easy but you certainly should be leaving the DT at the point of attack unblocked. The offensive line is pretty bad, but if we had a QB that was at least mildly efficient it would take a lot of pressure off the run game and defense. We should at least be able to consistently complete a few short passes but to this point it isn't happening. It is to the point that Mollberg leaves the pocket even when he has protection. I also think he doesn't recognize blitz when it's coming most of the time. To whoever said made a crack about the offense, you are not seeing the big picture. The philosophy is for this to be a defensive team and the offense needs to be able to pound the rock to help keep the defense fresh. The problem is that it is very clear the UND doesn't have near the talent on offense to accomplish much in the running or passing game. I think it will be at least two season before the offense even looks decent. It's not about the X's and O's, it's about the Jimmy's and Joe's. It isn't that anything is really wrong with the offensive system, we just have a serious issue with talent and execution right now. The defense still has a lot to clean up and work on but they had a good/great game overall and it is crazy how much better they are compared to the last several years.
  9. Well if we are going to end up with some nonsense name that doesn't relate to UND or North Dakota. Let's have some fun with it. To honor GOT's we could go with Twisted Little Monkey Demons or I am sure my kids would be all in on a name like University of North Dakota Ninja Turtles.
  10. Fort Bend Clements in Sugar Land, TX
  11. Kolt to my knowledge only has one offer, but I think Luke has several. It is really amazing to see how far they have come and developed.

  13. I am still trying to figure out why people on the board didn't expect this. You cannot completely change the culture of a football program overnight. A lot of position are not what they need to be and in some cases we are so overmatched at certain positions it is a fast fix. You need at least 5 good O lineman to run the ball consistently along with a good RB or 3. We don't have any of this and on top of that our QB play is horrible. The defense has gotten better and I think will continue to improve but the offense is going to take another year or two at least because lineman don't typically come in as studs, they need to be developed. As bad as we are, the run game is better than last season and the pass game is worse but that wasn't great last year either because of inconsistent QB play. We lost our top 3 WR's so it's pretty thin at WR as well which was pretty much the only reason we could pass last season. I mentioned this earlier but I hope Studsrud is the guy because at this point if he isn't they better bring in 3 to 5 QB's in the next recruiting class because it is a glaring issue.
  14. I think they might need to bring in about 5 quality prospects at QB, strength in numbers and hopefully one or two will work out.
  15. He might be listed as a one because he actually understands where to line up and what his assignment is on each play. It is pretty clear Simmons isn't to that point yet.
  16. It's going to be really hard to consistently run the football when the opposing teams know we can't pass. Shaugs should get more work because he's the only guy that makes a cut and get's up field quickly. The backs need to take the yardage that's blocked for them before they start trying to make a big play and end up losing yards or getting stopped for little or no gain. Mollberg was terrible in this game and I really doubt he can throw with enough accuracy to continue to play(of course he is welcome to prove me wrong and I hope he does) The underthrow on the deep ball was really bad, even a decent pass and the WR walks into the endzone.
  17. Even half of the complete passes were not very accurate or what I would call good throws. He had time to throw in most cases but was really off target. If they are going to continue to play him I would prefer they treat him more like an extra RB.

    Fall Camp

This happens because everyone seems to think they know more or have better information than the people that are actually in the situation. Coaches screw up but at least they are working with all the information. Sometimes the best player isn't the guy with the most talent, actually I think this is the case fairly often.

    Fall Camp

Would you also say all players are treated the same?
  20. A lot of loyal UND fans don't come on the board due to other UND fans.
  21. Yep, now don't leave some pink. It's a school color as well.

    Elite Camp

How is it an elite camp if people can just walk up and register?
  23. So... I here Philip Nelson is back on the market.

    Greg Hardin??

It will be hard to make the broncos roster.

    Greg Hardin??

He was always a long shot to get drafted but I think he will sign somewhere as an undrafted free agent in the next few days.
