  1. To me it looks like the University can't pay him that much so the bonus money is all private and not actually part of the Salary provided by the University.
  2. This was a little earlier.
  3. He didn't have some of the physical tools several others had, what I said was he graded out better. Which means he was assignment sharp and successfully did his job the best more often than the others. The guy slotted to start ahead of him sat a year with the injury and didn't ever end up starting.
  4. Sure man, whenever you want! Still can't figure out how I didn't get banned.
  5. In practice and all other instances. Because I practiced, played, watched film with them I had a pretty good idea what was going on. The spot was handed to a transfer from a d1 school, but he hurt himself lifting on testing day (the one day a year he actually lifted) giving the other guy a chance. This guy IMO ended up being the most consistent OL man on a very, very good oline at UND. I think he graded out the best of all starters in over half the games and this group had several professional football players in it.
  6. Generally I agree but I do know of some specific instances when the best player only got a chance due to another players injury.
  7. Of course, because no one on a message board actually has a clue as to what is going on in the locker room. In spite of what they think or might tell you.
  8. Go ahead and ban me... Matt = Idiot!
  9. Please don't ever compare USF to Mayville!
  10. Must have been a lot of years ago!
  11. I doubt it considering how badly we need good LB play.
  12. Freshman year is the hardest, but it does feel nice getting a small break during road games. I always attended all position meetings at UND, it wasn't an option.
  13. I thought Peters looked a lot better in this game than what I have seen previously.

I would really like to see mollberg run the ball some as well as a screen pass or two to the rb's out of the back field. Something possible help slow the opposing teams pass rush.

I really like Bubba Schweigert but I'm not sure he is a great choice for head coach. All situations are a little different but he was OK at UMD, not great. He is a great DC, but not all great coaches make good or great head coaches.

Maybe not, but that would be the exception not the rule and how is it working out for him so far. I know, not really fair considering he walked into a very bad situation.

It's simple and complex, how about that for confusing. It's simple in the regard that if you do certain things well it will almost always lead to success on the field. For example, being the more physically dominant team will usually win and I think NDSU is a pretty good example of this. It is also very complex because the amount of different parts and functions that must be managed correctly. Strength and conditioning is one small part of the process but each individual may need modifications to the training in order to get the best results. An interesting example that is easy to verify would be what Sanford did for NDSU in regards to testing each player for salt loss during workouts. They then prescribed specific amounts of salt intake for individual players to prevent them from losing to much water and cramping up. This was a big reason NDSU finished so strongly at K State and greatly contributed to the win.

In addition, the title and power of a head coach title can be very enticing. Also if he would like to be a head coach in FBS or NFL football one day he will need to gain head coaching experience someplace.

No coaching jobs are all that secure! but I assume if he was brought in he would get at least 3 years.

I completely agree that many or most coaches really aren't cut out to be head coaches. It certainly looks and feels that way with Muss. Heck, the head coach usually does little or no coaching anyway. Most of the time they are a planner, organizer, manager and motivator.

Sure but it didn't happen in 1 or 2 years, it took twelve and at the time they were still both D2 schools, I hope you can see the difference. In hindsight, UND screwed itself by not moving up along with NDSU and SDSU but we couldn't really know it at the time.

Because we transitioned after the fact UND forfeited a lot of what was built up in terms of being the better team(success at the time). NDSU could go to a recruit and offer a D1 scholarship when we could not and that will sway most recruits by itself, but we finally move up and NDSU says we are playoff eligible and will be in the playoffs. Once again most recruits are going to like that a heck of a lot better than what UND had to offer at the time.

It's not quite the same thing but a pretty common saying in education where I used to work was "F up, move up". Sadly this did seem to be the case quite often.

And lets be honest, nobody posting on this message board has a real clue as to what is going on with the coaching staff or with the players in the locker room.

I would guess because the season isn't going well, the coaches are pushing even harder than normal.
