  1. Cannot help but think our secondary will be vastly improved. Not only in experience but the individual improvement of jahmere. Jahmere has been lights out the few times I saw him and he obviously has the talent having played in the sec. Also Torrey hunt is perhaps the most talented db on the roster. Not only do I think they pull his redshirt, I believe he has a great chance to start. As talented as holm is, he might be redshirted because of what's in front of him. The depth, experience and talent in the secondary is far ahead of last year. They will still be extremely young as there is no seniors on the current depth chart but from having played so many true freshman over the last two years the experience is much better. Nice to have a talented experienced depth chart in the secondary. Biggest question by far is the o line. Very thin in numbers as well as the experience factor. Cannot sustain any more losses in the offseason or injuries. Depth behind Keaton scares the hell out of me. Never been sold on Bartles and heidlebaugh is an unproven freshman. With their schedule next year there's no reason why und couldn't go at least with a 9-2 re cord or maybe 10-1. I'm really liking their chances against bowling green now as well. Again, to me, the o line is the question mark on how they gel, mesh and gain experience that is critical come conference play.
  2. Attended practice today for about half hour. Couple things: I truly believe Hunt has a chance to start. He has all the skills just a bit of a tweener. Violent blocking hit between santiago and jahmere followed by the two face masking it up and santiago shoving jahmere to the ground. Love the intensity, just a weird interaction between team mates afterwards that I can only hope was a one time deal. Jahmere immediately left the field to vomit numerous times. Heidlebaugh looked much better today. Seems to be reading the defense a little better and making crisper throws. Keaton looked good. Jawon has the speed at OLB to be a menace to offenses. He could very well be the secret assassin this year.
  3. Bubba handled it like a champ!!!
  4. I feel the same. I would only imagine bubba is very angry and saddened. You would be hard pressed to find a better morally set person then bubba. He wants you to do the right thing in life but also realizes people can and will mistakes and he will forgive. It will now come will circumstances. He is a great coach on and off the field. He gives his everything for these kids and he expects that in return. He does not want und to be dirtied more so with any association related to him. He will do the right thing
  5. Completely agree about the wr group. If what I saw today with the exception of dulin the receiving game will be vastly improved. Keaton has the feel of game in his pocket now. Granted it's only spring practice, but he looked the part and did it very confidently. Clive looks like the biggest improvement so far. Crisp routes and glue fingers make his speed game look even better. It was nice to arnell out running around. He wasn't practicing just simply helping out with what he could. He was back pedaling at a decent clip when I noticed him and he did it like he hadn't ever sustained an injury. He's smooth. Taj was on a bike and walking around as well, just a little more of a gimp to him. No crutches but definitely favoring his injured leg. Man I hope he in 100% by September!! Also it was nice to see the hpc. Great recruiting tool.
  6. I was of those peanut gallery attendees. My o my santiago is just simply amazing. He makes everything look so simple and smooth. Wasn't there long but my first impression is that hunt will be special. He has the speed and cutting ability that will translate real well. He simply has the "it" factor. In my opinion he will not be red shirted. My not so fresh feeling came from dulin. Big disappointment today. I specifically watched him on many plays as I was super impressed with last year. 3 dropped balls that should have easily been caught. After the last one, freund looked very intense to coach him up. He also just seemed to play with a eh attitude. I hope it was just a one day thing, because he oozes with talent. Iwarri looks good as a wr. He didn't stand out in any which way today but looks more comfortable at wr then rb. Side note: his calf muscles look a pair of baseballs wrapped in leather. Coles Reyes is a stud. He doesn't even need to be on the field and he seems to garner attention. I wanted to watch mason bennet to see what he has and all I could ever do was find him and switch my attention elsewhere. Regardless, based on what I saw last year and his hudl film he will a great player for und. Norberg is the new ratelle. His arms are my legs. Heidlebaugh doesn't look comfortable at all. Very twitchy and unsure. Keaton looked fantastic. Great reads and throws alike. He has grown up immensely and is ready to make the next step. Hope he can stay healthy. Very impressed. The o line was having issues with the d line. I think that will be the case with many of the offenses the we go against. Unds d line will no doubt be their strength. Very deep, talented and aggressive. Tank is a monster, hence the name. The o line needs time to gel and get that cohesive element down. (Fingers crossed on Grady). Flowers looked good today an played with spirit. Very nice to see. My gold star of the day went to jahmere. The guy flat out broke up 2 if not 3 passes and was everywhere. It wasn't like they weren't good passes because they were, but it was all him and his attacking the ball to break them up. I hope that translates to real season football. The way he played, I see why he played in the sec. Clive also looks much improved. He now has the offense down comfortably, along with his speed he could be something to watch this year
  7. I for one will never speak highly of your team. Your team is a complete zero to me. Bring your garbage to the South Dakota st forum, your rivals. What is it that you want? Pats on the back?? Congratulatory return notes?? Your snide remarks are old and worn. It's very unfortunate you azzhats couldn't stay on your own forum and circle j$&k there. Instead you feel the need to disease up everyone else's site.
  8. Love the update, great job Teeder! The excitement running through me makes it feel like it should be football season. 90% sure I'm making a trip out there today.
  9. We need to rescue the bandwagoners from down south. Anything and everything will help. Plus all the things mentioned would make for a fun day at the alerus...... Like an event...... aka the Ralph. I wonder how many individuals are actually at the hockey game to watch the game. I personally know a handful of people that dislike hockey but go because it's the "thing to do". One couple has mentioned they haven't watched more then a couple periods over 7 years of attending. I think und and the alerus people can find room to assist with football team to make it an event. After all, football is the biggest sport in the business. And und now has the coach to make noise. Und and alerus now need to take the lead and be proactive. Make it happen
  10. In heaven there is no beer.....,
  11. I like. I had the idea of general admission on the west side. Keep the tailgating parties together.
  12. Lol
  13. Spot on!! How would you suggest to get more people? Winning isn't always the answer, especially in gf. The majority of people in gf have no clue und has a football team. They need to market it and make it an event.
  14. While I agree to a certain extent, I believe a potential recruit is not swayed by the game day music that is played, maybe more influenced by how the crowd or locals support their team, on top of many many other factors. When the game is at a stall, spectators need to step it up and make some noise. Whatever it takes is beyond me as I usually have lost my voice by the athem. Catwalk is a great place to voice your opinion at the enemy btw. For the students and younger crowd they could install new music but for anyone over 30 which is the majority of the spectators, they need a combination of old and older music. Perhaps one of the most influential moments for a player is the intro. It sets the stage. This is their time. When they are standing in the tunnel, adrenaline flowing through their veins and nerves that are sky high, they want to rush the field to the thousands that are there to cheer them on. The fans should erupt inducing a hair raising experience. Everybody feeding off of each other. Win win situation. This is where they need to get the players inputs on what they would like. Similar as to when a boxer is entering the ring, he plays the music he wants.
  15. Agreed on all the recommendations. How about now that they have a mascot, have a hawk 'work' the crowd. It would keep the kids interest, smiles on peoples faces and at times when the crowd should be noticed, he would be the instigator. He could give Mark Kalk a run for his money Hell, even though it's so "80s ", bring back the wave. How about cowbells ( need more cowbells). Towel waving? Yes very old timer of me, but it might spark an idea for something else. The alerus folk need help. We should send them a intro video for Virginia tech!!! You want goose bumps??? That will do it. You will see 80 yr old women acting like 30 yr olds, literally everyone is involved. Having experienced it live, I can tell you that you hear the noise with your bones not your ears. The absolute best thing was the chant back an forth with the opposite bleachers......crazy!! "LETS GO........HOKIES..........LETS GO........HOKIES......LETS GO........ HOKIES!!!!! Juiced for the rest of the game.
  16. Absolutely. Many times last year while even standing on the catwalk I missed the intro, only to turn around as the players were near the sidelines. Frustrating! I would love for the student side to be general admission. I have designated seats but will not sit there as I have gotten into to much trouble standing and cheering. Catwalk it is. How great would it be to get that collective group or groups of friends that love to cheer and not be worried by the next chair person being irritate. Old memorial east section was genrral admission and was a blast
  17. Yes. Yes. And yes. Oh dear lord I will never get over the loss of Grady!!! With his combination of size and speed he moved anyone anywhere anything...damn! What he did as a true freshman is simply amazing!! The o line will be talented, just going to take many games for them gel and get the experience as a collective group to where they need to be. Und has talented defensive backs that can run with and be hooked up with the wrs, just simply lack the fundamentals. Frustrating. I personally see a big big improvement. I hope so anyways. Two of my big concerns were the punt return and the kickoff return teams. Need returners that have a great feel for the game and have the quickness to excel. Someone with a kamikaze mind frame would do! Ok, not necessarily but just sprinkle in a little crazy. A major nemisis last year was kickoff team. Many teams returned a good amount of yards against us last year. Need to shore it up. Special teams are very crucial as they can lose or win many games. Very underrated. A good portion of field possession is usually dictated by the special teams.
  18. Miami hurricanes don't need marketing to take off. Most fbs teams dont need marketing to take off. A fcs team from North Dakota that has done nothing since becoming a d1 member less then a decade ago needs marketing. Considering we have a new coach that's bleeds Kelly green and because of that fu$&@&$ team to the south, und needs marketing. Bandwagoners, I believe, would like to come back and cheer on und more then they do the other team. Theyre on the bandwagon, so the smallest of things sways their mind. For us true fans, which there are plenty, I could watch und at hallock and be happy, it's the bandwagoners that need something else to show up. Winning doesn't always keep people in the seats, so you need to occupy them with something "special". Thats why they have marketing. Ideas!! Winning obviously helps but und and the alerus has done ZERO to attract the not so hard core fan. Give them a reason to go! Start with educating the people about the conference teams. Southern utah is more then a direction in a state, it's a fb team that made the playoffs and play in the big sky! We no longer play augustana and mankato. Hype up the teams that not only will play at the alerus but the ones on he road as well. We now have the product and coach to compete with 95% of the teams in fcs and they are winning. A year away from doing special things. It's time the "marketing team " acknowledges und has a football team! I might add that I hope the students could spare a couple hours of their busy Saturdays to actually attend a game. That was incredible when they showed up and you could hear them. Miss those days
  19. Marketing works for anything. I visit mexico annually and in their (locals) own words , corona is skunk piss! Until they started marketing america they were in shambles. Now people think it's a vacation in a bottle. Best thing since sliced bread. Yet they add enough lemon or lime to it that they are simply kiling the skunk. All in the marketing. Same applies to Jose Cuervo, locals won't touch that crap. If und and or marketers could come up with ideas that promoted the "other" sports, not named hockey, as an event giving the people that don't really care about being there and watching a reason to come back. I'm a hardcore football fan missing roughly four home games in 25 years, so I don't need anything other then the game but their are plenty of women and kids that aren't interested. Yes the bandwagoners will slowly trickle in as the winning continues but und and the alerus need to step it up, as well as the Betty. Und has a fantastic promoter and the should use him...bubba!!!
  20. I'm in agreeance with you, but I cannot stand having the FU school mentioned in any manner on this board. When you look into the world of sports, football would seem to be the number sport in attention getting closely followed by basketball. Baseball and soccer would seem to be second tier. Hockey and golf and maybe a few others gather some followings but are a distant. People outside the nortern Midwest and northen east coast have no clue what a ice rink and puck are, more less care about it. UND might be one of only a handful of schools as to where hockey is #1. They (und) really need to step up on everything that's not hockey. Keep doing what they're doing with hockey and pretend there are other sports being played at und. Grab the national attention in every sport!!! Bubba has changed the outlook and future of this program, now it's Unds turn. Step it up !! I've even noticed the our local station(wdaz), the football teams highlights come after high school girls volleyball. Not all the time but has happened. Bandwagoners have gone south and we need to market more then ever. Time is now!

    2016 Season

Yeah you might be right about Holm and Randolph or any other true freshman for that matter. Absolutely nothing wrong with that! That means the staff has trust in the returners and to be honest, my feeling has been true freshman should always redshirt. Theres certain cases to where the talent is to invaluable, but more often then not these young men need a good year or two to muscle up an mature. It's also an indicator as to where your program is. If you bring in great talent and they're not playing right away, the odds are you have great talent already playing. Quality depth!!!! Can it be august yet!?

    2016 Season

There is some talent in the secondary, they just neede to be coached, as the fundamementals have been lacking. When you sprinkle in the youth factor it was a terrible blend. I witnessed many times last year that the cbs were glued to their player but the lacked the basic fundamental of watching the opposing players eyes, as there were no hands up or not turning around to make a play on the ball. Quite a few footballs hit our boys jerseys. Reyes is absolute stud! He will be on some all American lists next year. I really like Harris, great length and determination, he just needs to learn the fundamentals. Jahmere must have talent as he played a bit while at Mississippi St. Having a healthy arnell back is a huge lift. He has the nasty and quickness to compliment Reyes. I think holm will have his shirt pulled as he is much to talented. To put in perspective, Unds secondary was incredibly young and inexperienced. We had a true fresh, true soph, soph and a first year juco transfer. Backups were first year soph transfer, true soph, sen walk on and another first yr juco transfer. After an injury we had another true fresh come in. Only Reyes and James (walk on) had more then 2 years in this program. Five of the top nine players first year guys. With the aggressive blitzing style of defense that und plays, it puts a huge burden on the secondary. Very isolated! With a little more experience this year, I see a big improvement. Adding the quality depth as the coaching staff has done, is going to help tremendously! Bowling green will show us what kind of strides they have made as they will tested. Wish it was football season!!!!
