  1. It can be done but not flawlessly:
  2. No These! The one that says building an arena smaller than our conference games averaged a few years back isn't a smart idea. Building the second-smallest basketball arena in the NCC: USD (Dakotadome) 10,000 (approx.) SCSU (Halenbeck) 6,400 MSU (Taylor) 4,800 Augie (Elmen) 4,000 UNO (Sapp) 3,500 UMD (Romano) 2,759 For the greatest drawing team in the NCC. I didn't realize we could cut the top half of the Ralph off. It still is a 13,000 seat (for basketball) arena (with no atmosphere and conflicting schedules with hockey), regardless of how you want to spin it.
  3. It would have been well worth the extra $8-12 Million, especially with the current headaches now present.
  4. Or more than likely NDSU was able to offer them fully rides while, while UND was able to offer partial or no money.
  5. But why? Lets see. So you can have consistency playing/watching in one arena throughout the season. Nobody wants to play basketball in 3 different arenas. Atmosphere, money and schedules. All three of those now conflict because they built the Betty to small. Play all the games in the Betty-lose money. Play all the games in the Ralph- lose atmosphere. All of this because they built the Betty short 2,000 seats. 5,000-5,500 would have been perfect for ALL games throughout the season for years and years to come regardless of division. Now we are stuck with trying to guess what the attendance for certain opponents will be in the following years and move them into according arenas? Makes no sense. I highly doubt UND wants to pay the city of Grand Forks money to play basketball, especially when they already paid for their own basketball arena.
  6. The concept is great but it is screwing up a lot of good things.
  7. I think we are all on that page. What is happening? Why is UND paying money to use facilities that was donated to them?
  8. I"m still under the impression that the Engelstad family paid for the Betty. http://www.UND.edu/stratplan2/tables.html (funding source of "private") Just like the Ralph.
  9. The UND administration has proved on more than one occasion that they care more about money than atmosphere.
  10. If you would like to read the review of Paulo's Restaurant in the Dakota Student And heres one about Capones if your interested.
  11. How about UND hired someone who doesn't have ties to the program.
  12. The question was how many people were turned away aka not given a ticket to enter the game that wanted one...not what the attendance was.

Not about GF, but I'm guessing everything would apply. Even mentions "Good Night and Good Luck." Article
  14. Not sure about the rumors, but the VD was indeed selling Red Pepper food. Maybe as a test market? I know that the Pepper is going to open in that location previously stated because that's what the permit in the windows says.
  15. Another Red Pepper next to the Dakota Textbook Store by Dagwoods, complete with a drive-up window.
  16. Its likely they won't lose to those teams but I'm not going to predict the future like you. Home schedule for the Bison: Feb 8 MBB vs Jamestown Feb 10 MBB vs Mayville State Feb 22 MBB vs Mary Not very exciting if you ask me.
  17. My point? I have none. To allow you to read an article (that you might not have other wise seen) if you were interested in finding out how many Sioux fans come from Cass and Clay County. I know I had never seen the actual data. Oh and then there might be the fact that some people might like to discuss it. Maybe you should contact the Forum and ask why they wrote the article if you want a point.
  18. FM Fans Support Sioux Hockey BugmeNot (www.in-forum.com)
  19. I'd guess they have an even worse view now when the games in the Betty.
  20. Bad wording on my part. I should have wrote "You should get use to it now that the Bison are in a higher division." I expect there to be less media coverage of UND sports in ND. But yes 23-0 is definately something to write about.
  21. Should get use to it now that the major stations that cover UND sports are based out of Fargo.
  22. I had never once mentioned being drunk as a minor, and neither did you in your original point. Yes, it is indeed against the law to drink alcohol if you are under the age of 21. There are plenty of 21+ students at UND.
  23. What is your point then? I am pretty sure everyone here knows that being drunk in public is against the law in North Dakota, which means pretty much all (or a lot) of us have broken the law before. I am also pretty sure that you are trying to refer to UND students being drunk in Engelstad Arena by making the comment. That it is against the law for them to be drunk in the student section of REA which is not the case. After all I have seen you post that same thing three or four times now in "student atmosphere" threads.
