    Canad Inns

Ok so odds are no theatre. I'm fine with that. I don't go to many movies, and its not because there isn't better style seating or selection. I say Canad should make their water park bigger. I mean why not? Make it a true destination. I have a feeling that if its pretty tame it won't be that big of a draw and people will get tired of it quickly. Quick someone call Canad Inns and make this a part of their plans, it would be a surefire success. Its called a FlowRider and it would be extremely popular. http://www.wavehouseathleticclub.com/FlowRider/flowrider.htm http://www.waveloch.com/flash/index.htm
  2. I can guess why he mentioned a horseshoe configuration, instead of a bowl shape seating.
  3. There are far greater drugs than alcohol.
  4. Why not $50 Million? Can you have to much money? They probably will see how much they can get from this campaign and then see what they can do with it, cause I saw nothing specific they wanted to do. In reality, I don't see them expanding the Alerus anytime in the future (20 years). Basketball and hockey don't need any money, except maybe a center scoreboard in the Betty (or expansion talks like the Alerus or at least bigger end bleachers). The only thing I can think of is the practice facility, which I would guess the majority would go towards.
  5. Even more reason to put a bubble over memorial. You could take the visiting bleachers down expand the field to conform to NCAA lacrosse standards with "free" rent. Students could walk to the games, free of charge and without having to pick up tickets in advance like at the Alerus for football. Then in the off time it could be used as a practice facility for all sports.
  6. Not unexpected...UND MENS lose again...same old.
  7. I have never seen so many generalizations by one person!!!! I could disclaim so many arguments by "informant" its not even funny! He/she seriously needs to reconsider reality! Unfortunately I don't have that amount of time like "informant" does right now...
  8. Looks like I didn't need luck!!!! Thanks, Jim.
  9. Tougher standards = less students. But I would like to see evidence that UND's average ACT and/or SAT score has increased. Is that available?
  10. Easy. They play big name teams in metropolitan areas. This helps sell out their arenas for many games (meaning they will average more than 25% of their perspective arena capacities). That is how they create "atmosphere."
  11. And they wanted it done before the Jrs....why...?
  12. It can be done but not flawlessly:
  13. No These! The one that says building an arena smaller than our conference games averaged a few years back isn't a smart idea. Building the second-smallest basketball arena in the NCC: USD (Dakotadome) 10,000 (approx.) SCSU (Halenbeck) 6,400 MSU (Taylor) 4,800 Augie (Elmen) 4,000 UNO (Sapp) 3,500 UMD (Romano) 2,759 For the greatest drawing team in the NCC. I didn't realize we could cut the top half of the Ralph off. It still is a 13,000 seat (for basketball) arena (with no atmosphere and conflicting schedules with hockey), regardless of how you want to spin it.
  14. It would have been well worth the extra $8-12 Million, especially with the current headaches now present.
  15. Or more than likely NDSU was able to offer them fully rides while, while UND was able to offer partial or no money.
  16. But why? Lets see. So you can have consistency playing/watching in one arena throughout the season. Nobody wants to play basketball in 3 different arenas. Atmosphere, money and schedules. All three of those now conflict because they built the Betty to small. Play all the games in the Betty-lose money. Play all the games in the Ralph- lose atmosphere. All of this because they built the Betty short 2,000 seats. 5,000-5,500 would have been perfect for ALL games throughout the season for years and years to come regardless of division. Now we are stuck with trying to guess what the attendance for certain opponents will be in the following years and move them into according arenas? Makes no sense. I highly doubt UND wants to pay the city of Grand Forks money to play basketball, especially when they already paid for their own basketball arena.
  17. The concept is great but it is screwing up a lot of good things.
  18. I think we are all on that page. What is happening? Why is UND paying money to use facilities that was donated to them?
  19. I"m still under the impression that the Engelstad family paid for the Betty. http://www.UND.edu/stratplan2/tables.html (funding source of "private") Just like the Ralph.
  20. The UND administration has proved on more than one occasion that they care more about money than atmosphere.
  21. If you would like to read the review of Paulo's Restaurant in the Dakota Student And heres one about Capones if your interested.
