  1. All good points. I'm certainly not saying that Coach Hakstol has used poor judgement. Of course I hope he hasn't. That said, it is extremely difficult for me to come up with a scenario in which the Sioux coaches do not already know what Bochenski is going to do. For giving him a chance that other teams were not willing to three years ago, or so they say, he would appear to at the very least owe the UND hockey program that much respect to let them know his plans. At least I see it that way. At some point it will all come out. Not that we need to know or anything.
  2. I agree with both of you. Before you have coached a single game is not yet time to "prove a point". Hopefully that doesn't turn out to be the case.
  3. I've also heard that Sidney Crosby is a good hockey player.
  4. You'd think after going to all that trouble that he/she would have been able to use capitalization correctly.
  5. Pretty sure Brandon hasn't been sitting around eating Krispy Kreme's all summer, if that's what you meant by that. If he hasn't signed by the time the rest of the Sioux team reports for conditioning, there's not really a reason for Brandon not to show up as well.
  6. Link for Rick. Waiting for the fallout over the remainder of your post.

    PCM, That's scary stuff.

Apparently the Forum didn't get the memo that it was Grand Forks leaders that are behind the blending plan. The Forum was never before shy about bashing GF when it had the chance, so it is odd that they would not take the opportunity this time.

Gee, tony, who was it again that made the attempt to tie a "blended" plan to UND and Grand Forks having it in for NDSU and Fargo? You seriously need to get yourself to some stress relief seminars or something. At least find a different demon to blame things on. Simply stating that UND/Grand Forks is out to get NDSU/Fargo doesn't make it so.
  10. Lack of a committment of any sort to a facility for soccer had to factor in. When you play on a field that has an orange snow fence around it and bleacher seating for 12 people, it has to wear on the recruiting trail. The most interesting part of the whole situation is that the final sentence of the press release states that a "national search will begin immediately". Hmmm... why in this case?
  11. Are you serious? It's July!
  12. So, what's your point? You seem to at least have the competency to use Map Quest. Why can't you add any substance to any conversations? Whether the Sioux ever play the Bison again, and we know it will happen one day, the Bison can't be replaced as our main rival. Sure, there will be teams the Sioux compete with for conference and national titles that Sioux fans will learn to 'hate' almost as much as NDSU. It's probably safe to say that Sioux fans will still watch the late sports on Saturday nights in the fall, or read the sports section of the paper first thing Sunday morning, checking to see that the Bison lost. That won't change with the teams not actually playing each other for a couple years. I would expect Bison fans to do the same thing. The decision by NDSU to switch divisions has ended the competition, for now, between the schools but I don't think it has done anything to end the rivalry. Regarding UMD, I suppose the Sioux and Bulldog coaches could meet in Bemidji and have a press conference to announce the playing for a US 2 highway sign or something. That sure would be interesting to the alumni and fans of each school.
  13. As did KVLY in Fargo. Has to be one of the worst-kept secrets out of UND in quite some time. At least we should hear something definitive, finally. Hopefully deekspizza will still be able to type his informative messages after all of this. There has to be a good chance of him breaking an arm patting himself on the back after the news is released. Let's go SIOUX!
  14. This is from the same company that allowed a headline reading "UND hockey leadership in flux: Blais' departure leaves future of Sioux program in doubt". Yep, the future of the program is very much in doubt. The ignorance seems to be contagious. Absolutely there needs to be a search to find the BEST coach possible. This is not a job that your average high school coach would be a finalist for. This is a job where coaches already in place at any other school would be foolish not to look into. Certainly not something that should be done on a whim. But, as alumni, who do you look to in the Alumni Association, that would stress to the UND administration that they better get this right? The leading candidate's father-in-law? Or how about his wife? Dave Hakstol seems to be very fortunate in meeting Erin O'Keefe. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I trust that they'll do this the right way. And if that means they hire Dave Hakstol, so be it. I'm sure he'll do fine. I just don't want to see him get the job simply by default. By the way, we all will still be Sioux fans no matter who they hire. It's all good.
  15. 14-0. CMSU is GOOD. Scheving was like batting practice for them. Wow.
  16. Link to KWKJ 3-0 CMSU after 1. Scheving got a curve ball up and gave up two runs with the bases loaded and two outs. Then CMSU does the double steal; a bad throw to second allows the runner on third to score for a 3-0 lead. Lots of game left.
  17. Because Blais is a heartless prick. Haven't you read any other message boards lately?
  18. What? Eslinger goes to Minnesota and starts as a true freshman for a Big Ten football team. He has a very real possibility to be an All-America candidate. He has been named to the pre-season Playboy All-America Team. He's big time. Hunt maybe would give him a good battle, but "easily start over" is not too likely. And just when you started to show some sense.
  19. They sure can't consider 'cut and paste' the same as plagiarism, can they?
  20. Yeah, that is exactly what I said.
  21. Not trying to instigate anything. I just have seen this situation before and have seen MANY students go off the deep end on here and elsewhere. BTW, six year season ticket holder at Coach's Club level of FSC, so whether students pay $0 or $500, it has no bearing on me.
  22. I think Strinden is just talking about the $110 million plus that was donated for the hockey arena. I don't think they have donated anything at all specifically for the Betty. And it looks as though they don't intend to ask the Engelstads to do so.
  23. This covers more than hockey, but I'm posting it here anyway. Link to today's Herald article. Some interesting points: Jeez, what happened to the days when the prices were the same for ALL games? Commence !@$! hitting the fan.
  24. ...now they are seeking donations. Sure, those extra amenities are great and all, but are they necessary? It's going to be basically a non-conference game arena (for basketball). Anybody have a half million just lying around?
  25. That would be alright as well, since if it was in Grand Forks, it would be a McDonald's owned by someone in his family. You should have said Wendy's or Hardee's.
