  1. Good point. With the "leadership" recently exhibited out of 300 Twamley the front-runner probably changes as often as the wind direction.
  2. If TR is so "toxic", why are the Washington Nationals still including him in their "President's race"?
  3. In the epic and immortal words of a former poster at this site: "Anybody can say anything."
  4. Recruiters don't have to always deal in fact. They can run with innuendo. "So you're thinking about North Dakota? Well, they haven't put that whole nickname fiasco behind them; they don't have a name. Who knows what'll happen to them and their playoff chances between now and them figuring all that out."
  5. From NHL.com: The New Jersey franchise has completed its move to the new Lucifer Arena at the corner of Dante's and Eighth Circle. The franchise will continue to play under the "Devils" name and recommends fans use the new pavement on Good Intentions Road to get to the facility. New Devils owner, B. Elze Bub, had no new comments on his purchase of the team or them playing in their new venue, but he did comment that he was surprised that earlier in the day the NCAA had reversed their prior policy and is again allowing Native related nicknames. Yup, that's the press release that'll have to happen.
  6. What "uncertainty"? If you mean "will the name be dropped", no. If you mean "what will it be", yes. However, the cause of that uncertainty, and corresponding no effort put forth, was the legislated "cooling off" period from the ND Legislature that ended on Jan 1, 2015.
  7. An arrow. A horse with a breed name that "sounds" Native (Nokota). < sigh >
  8. I hope you're not holding your breath.
  9. Watch the language (even in abbreviations). I don't like nd1sufan's take, because we can do a "one-year take", but it is legitimate at some level.
  10. Go with what makes you happy.
  11. I'm not seeing where anyone was belittled or disparaged in Teeder's post. He reported what was said. He then questioned why folks would talk about the old name at a "we don't need a name" rally. If I missed something please point it out.
  12. I believe it is dependent on the reporter/network and their agenda. Given the political point of view of much of the media, any chance to take a shot at a school that has not fully moved beyond a banned-by-the-NCAA nickname will be taken gleefully by them is my experience and expectation. And by "fully moved beyond" I mean they'll use no-nickname as "you folks haven't yet moved beyond" evidence. True or not, that's how they'll spin it to fit an agenda.
  13. He did such a wonderful job that ... the nickname is gone. Highly effective. As far as donations, probably not a single donation but I'm guessing "Nike guy" (with child labor in Asia) has given more to Oregon. And some don't like T Boone Pickens donations to Oklahoma State because of how T Boone made his money. Everybody has warts.
  14. Go! Go! Avocados!
  15. The discussion of the change from "Indians" continues today at Dartmouth (Big Green) and Stanford (Cardinal) today. To think some won't be upset no matter what is naive.
  16. The other problem with Nodaks was stated by someone (don't remember who) as Nod*ks. To me "Nodak" will always either be the REC based in GF or a now defunct appliance store in Fargo or a term I'd always heard used in a neutral at best light (and would never use to describe myself).
  17. I believe Ralph bought Patton's notes and diaries from the WWII era and donated them to the Chester Fritz Library.
  18. That does seem to send a mixed message at a "we don't need a nickname" rally.
  19. You could ask the Manke who used to play FB at UND who's a GF dentist now. Just four more to survey.
  20. Folks really showed up wearing the defunct nickname to a "we don't need a nickname" rally? What message were they really trying to send?
  21. I guess I'd rather the focus be on the team, players, event they're playing in, season, school ...
  22. I thought it was the uniform color scheme.
  23. While the "no nickname" crowd rejoices the day today and the "why'd he just undercut his committee" crowd scratches their heads ... the side that won by attrition keeps winning.
  24. Haven't we done that since 1883? And we've seemed always to have something to go with it ...
  25. I love that tactic. It's third-grader schoolyard at best.
