A few years back DU(?) had a goalie that liked to pile crease snow by the outsides of the pipes so if a shot on the ice missed short it would be deadened by all the snow instead of kicking back out hard. I think it was Skarp that had enough and came through during a whistle as a "plow driver" and his stick blade was the plow blade. Behind the goal line the piles went. Minor melee followed.

My guess is the EERC's work with Minnkota Power on Project Tundra helped with some of the geologic storage concerns.

I don't know what "it" is, but Bohl and Klieman had it and it even came through on television in interviews. And the new NDSU QB, he doesn't ooze "it" like Jensen/Wentz/Stick/Lance did on the field. NDSU may have come back to the rest of the Valley in those aspects, but they still appear to have that offensive line and a defense. But I still suspect this will be SDSU's year.

I'm thinking SIU was a mid-pack MVFC team. What UND showed is they are better than mid-pack first time out. What's coming in is top tier. The test is coming.

For refence, NDSU hoped for 10k versus YSU and only got 6400. Has the full appetite for live events returned? Until all 3k are sold, 3k is not an issue.

My worst goal (or not): A "three bell". I was at the blue line in a two-referee two-man crew. (Don't ask.) I saw the shot but was screened from the rest. I heard "pong-ping-pong" and signaled washout assuming pipe, crossbar, pipe. But the other official pointed and the goal judge light came on. We met and the other ref and the goal judge explained what I'd heard: The middle sound was the back bar, not the cross bar. Both had seen it. I had to explain my washout to one coach who wasn't happy and "said as much" to me. What gave me hope later is that coach's alternate captain skated past me and said it had gone in. We do not speak of the day I quit officiating.

It was a far better than I expected debut; however, the real test comes Saturday. I believe SDSU wins the MVFC this year. (I would not be saying that if Lance was still in Fargo.)
