  1. No matter the name, some UND fan or fans need to get onto this. Getting a collective set up seems like standard practice going forward. Times like this I miss the arena's original benefactor more than ever. He'd get things rolling.
  2. Nightingale: he's the HC of the USA U-18s and a Michigan State alumnus. I wonder how it worked out the last time they hired a guy with that exact resume. No. Wait. We know. It's Danton Cole, the guy they just fired!
  3. Yeah, 6'8" is pretty big, ...
  4. Burnt Ends <-- the collective to pay Texas (color: burnt orange) tight ends Rising Spear <-- for Florida State (think logo on helmet) Apparently you have to have a cutesy name for your NIL collective, so, I'll name it and let someone run it. Henceforth, the collective for UND hockey defensemen shall be known as ... Hello Frisch Or maybe ... Give Blood ? Hammer Time ?
  5. ... except the money to do it. The State of Illinois is broke, ... and broken.
  6. In this Name Image Likeness world, it's not "becoming"; we are.
  7. And yet KELOland (Nexstar) is the most prolific and penetrated media group in that state. Walk into any diner in any SD small town for breakfast or lunch and KELOland news/weather is on the TVs. I fully expect the FCC to approve the Forum Comm acquisition of KVRR (Fox affiliate). The precedent is Sioux Falls. They'd rather allow consolidation than let one of the four die in a market. Me? I'll enjoy watching Mike McFeely squirm when his Forum Comm paycheck comes from an organization also broadcasting Fox News personalities. (I guess that goes for Schlossman too.)
  8. What I enjoy: Forum Comm holds the WDAY-TV license Flag Family Media holds the WDAY-AM license Midwest Communications holds the KOYY-FM license (which up to 2016 was the WDAY-FM license)
  9. The NIL (name image likeness) world gives the schools the easy out: They don't control the money. As the NCAA statement says The NIL agreement is between a person (who just happens to be a student-athlete) and an outside (meaning not the school) party. All the school can do is ask the two parties to comply with state law (see above). So, the schools: They don't touch the money. They aren't responsible for who gets what. They are not party to the NIL School X: "Gee, Title IX inspector, we don't control that local car dealer, who is a football alumnus, and giving $50k each to offensive linemen*; we don't control that he won't even give a broken pool noodle to the women's swimming team. There's nothing we can do about it." NIL is the perfect scheme for the rich of college athletics to get richer. *Reportedly already happening at UT Austin.
  10. Eliminating mandated numbers of sports would actually be an acceptable outcome to me. You'd still have to be Title IX compliant, but wouldn't have to support some mandatory arbitrary number of M/W sports to be "in NCAA compliance".
  11. WAY too early standings update (more to check/confirm my tally table than anything) ... It was a good night to be loaded with Maple Loafs I guess. Player pts ShawnO 10 atHotSioux 9 tnt 3 sioux rube 2 stoneySioux 2 Goon 2 The Sicatoka 1 petey23 0 farce poobah 0
  12. The scoring for Radio: This too reads as .... Money is important (25%). Coverage, Promotion, and Content rules the decision.
  13. The scoring for Television: Money is important (25%). Coverage, Promotion, and Content rules the decision.
  14. I'll just leave this here. It makes as much sense as the last couple pages of this thread.
  15. Ah yes, ... spring ... that time when the constant whirring of my sump pumps is the dominant sound ...

  17. Correction: It should say "as many" ... it's 5 and 5 per Sporting News article.
  18. 2022 NFL Draft picked, by conference: MVFC 8 --> NDSU 2, SDSU 2, UND 1, UNI 1, YSU 1, MoSt 1. That's more than each the MAC, the Sun Belt, and C-USA (6 each). Data: https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-draft-picks-college-2022-georgia-texas/elqxrltcla0m98h4ijgtbjkw Disclaimer: I may have miscounted.
  19. 24-52-76 <-- That's the offense the team loses this year: Ford, Sanderson, Calder, Budy. 24 of 119 goals (20%). That can be made up. But can they make up for Ford winning so many draws? If there's a "draws machine" (like a baseball pitching machine) Jamernik, Schmaltz, Ness, and McLaughlin had better wear the motor out this summer.
  20. UMn is now fresh out of Lucius' His brother Chaz signed with the WPG system last week.

  22. Cooper Kupp calling for EWU on line one for you ...
  23. I'm still giggling (and head scratching) that UND + NDSU + SDSU had more picked in the draft than UF + FSU + Miami. I-29 > (I-10 + I-95)?
