  1. I perceive that "Gopher" means "dirty, rotten, cheap @##%&@#%!" Is that what Gopher means? (<--- That's rhetorical. ) People will always have their perceptions. Fact and reality matter.
  2. Central in the final. GFRR up 4-0 with one period to play for the other birth in the final. The more things change ....
  3. Read the whole post linked to. An expert in native languages says it doesn't mean that.
  4. Are you sure that's what it means? A fairly reputable source would disagree. http://siouxsports.com/forums/index.php?sh...indpost&p=44780
  5. You're about 20 hours premature. (ND HS hockey semis are in The Ralph tonight.) If you were The Sioux you'd take another stupid penalty and be down 5x3 for good chunk of that.
  6. Assuming they have the skill, here's some light reading for "duckies and bunnies". http://www.fightingsioux.com/sports/mhocke...RELEASE_ID=3360 http://www.fightingsioux.com/sports/mhocke...RELEASE_ID=3367 And here's what all that means: http://www.national-letter.org/
  7. Doofi? It must be the plural of "doofus". I like it!
  8. Don't the Gophers have some, how shall we say, "track record" or "history" in that area?
  9. Here's who was out when UND scored: 15,8,27,18,G34 (SHG by 15) 11,29,15,8,18,G34 (G by 11) I see three or four seniors on the ice for every non-empty net goal. I see freshmen and sophomores out at forward when UND scores. The freshmen scoreth, and the seniors giveth away. Seniors. Leaders, right? Then why did the team elect a junior as captain? What's that alone say about this senior class? The saving grace is that I see an on-ice leader for next season emerging.
  10. To quote a great line, "show me the money," and you'll convince me. I reference my statement to Montana and their recent $1,000,000 athletic budget deficits.
  11. I had one come back at me. NDSU's numbers for this year aren't in yet. You'd hate to have that come back at you. PS - How do you go "L, L, L, W, W" at a tournament and win it? What format is that?
  12. Higher TV ratings. Revenue positive championship for the NCAA. Each has its merits. What you chose not to address is this: Sure wrestling is taken care of, but why not deal with items that could be revenue positive for the budget (like star2city mentions)? For example, the BESC for volleyball is a facility many DI programs would envy and volleyball has that potential for fan interest. PS - How'd Bison softball do against BU, UCF, and Longwood this season?
  13. Knowing that Harmeson is UND's NCAA faculty athletic representative, that was a gimme bet as soon as RT announced he was moving to the NCC commissioner job. Harmeson is also chairing the search committee.
  14. Wrestling? Softball? The words of many an NDSU fan, namely "Nobody cares about ....", are ringing here also, but even more loudly. That's a nice wrestling room. And it would fit in here almost twice: http://www.visitgrandforks.com/main/ralph A 30,000 seat stadium at Valdosta? Would anyone in the south not be in a football stadium on a Saturday afternoon? Valdosta appears to be getting the capital expenditures for facilities taken care of before having to raise the annual capital of an expanded annual budget. I believe I'm seeing that same theme at UND as star2city does as well.
  15. I wonder how much this past weekend will play into the awarding of The Virg Foss Award (given to the team that best follows an outstanding first half of the season with a second half collapse).
  16. Yes, an assistant AD from Oregon State applied. An assistant AD from Stanford (Ray Purpur) applied as well: - he grew up in Grand Forks - graduated from UND - and he is a relative of a guy named Clifford "Fido" Purpur.
  17. It would have been poetic justice if UAA had scored off the center ice face-off after that. And here Randy was having a good game (save his beginning footwork) up to that point.
  18. Actually, RT's last day is Friday. There's a reception for him at J. Lloyd Stone House (Alumni Center) on Wednesday from 2 to 5 pm. They hope to have the new AD in play before the end of the semester (in April). To the "candidates": What is your opinion of merging the UND AD position with the General Manager position of REA (and having the day-to-day operations manager of REA become the Assistant AD for Facilities)?
  19. One trip to Washington and one Washington team in GF annually (conference so no guarantee to pay) vs. having to fill two, probably home, dates (and probably pay guarantees to both). Easy. That's why having a conference is important: It helps in budget planning.
  20. To meet Title IX (at any public school level) you need to meet two areas: 1. Effective Accommodation of Students
