Maybe if the BTHC ran a pre-season tourney you could catch the Cubs winning Game 7 of a World Series over the White Sox during the same weekend.
-
No, no, no, Mafia. The "BTHC" Tourney would be played at United Center in Chicago. Being the closest school Buckie Badger would get the preferential treatment. Well, them or Northwestern or the Illini.

First, the UND student body was on spring break last weekend: 2200 no-show bodies. (Well, the bodies were "showing", but not in REA, more likely on a warm sandy beach somewhere.) Add in the 2200 student seats full and you'd have the building over capacity. Next, let's try to really go enfuego. (First, the fuel ....) I really don't mind the "Minnesota Rule" at the WCHA Final Five. It just goes to prove what we've all really known all along. (Now, toss the lit match at it.) Gopher fans won't show up unless it's easy for them. Most of us would gladly only have to take a half-day of vacation to see "their team" play. Too bad most of us have to take a day or more off just to see "their team". Talk about fair-weather fans if you have to make it easy for them, and make it so they don't even have to take vacation, to get them out and watching their team, when all they have to do is drive across a bridge. (Flame-fanning 101 is complete.)

Actually, the NCAA has a preference for on-campus sites in their DI manual:
-
Come on WPoS, don't make it so easy. There are no NCAA rules regarding playing sites for conference tournaments. The Final Five is a conference tournament and could be played wherever the WCHA decides to play it. NCAA mens regional basketball tournament sites (and Final Four) must not be on-campus sites. Womens basketball and mens ice hockey regionals can be played on-campus, e.g. Mariucci this year for the NCAA West Region mens ice hockey and The Ralph next year. The Frozen Four must be at an arena that holds more than 15000 people which means off-campus (with one or two exceptions). I'm not sure if there is a specific "off-campus" rule for the Frozen Four.
-
Technically, East Grand Forks isn't Grand Forks. Maybe "Uncle Ralph" should have built an arena in EGF too.
-
If it's about central location, why the special considerations in game scheduling for just Minnesota? Why not just a straight tournament bracket with seeds and times set before the season starts? If it were held in Denver or Milwaukee would DU or UW games be given similar "special consideration" for start times? How about if it were ever held in the new arena in Winnipeg, would UND be given start time "special considerations"? If it's about a neutral facility I hear the Pepsi in Denver is nice, and there are a couple of WCHA teams nearby to host as well. Milwaukee. Winnipeg. Neutral. It's about Benjamins and nothing more. The WCHA will do whatever wherever to maximize the gate from the Five. You don't have to like it. Just accept it and move on.

http://www.d2football.com/Stories/2005draftpreview2.html Roland is at #5. And when did Bowenkamp change his first name from John to "James"?
-
The magic "two or more goals" point: Make it: 18-8-4 Miss it: 0-5-1 Of the "make it" sub-group: If seniors get two or more: 10-1-0 If seniors get less than two: 8-7-4 It still is pointing at when the seniors show up.
-
Weren't there other signals, like not being on the U-20 WJC team?
-
This season, when UND gets two or more goals in a game from seniors they are 10-1-0. (The loss was 3-2 to CC at REA with McMahon getting both goals for UND.) If the seniors don't chip in two or more they are 8-12-5. Final ride boys. How do you want to go out?
-
My guess would be that you don't boot a guy at this time of year unless (a) he's earned it, and (b) it'll be better for the team in the long run.
-
I felt this one deserved a thread of its own. Congrats Brian! http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandforks/sports/11069742.htm http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm?id=85219 And congratulations to TJ Oshie and Chris VandeVelde for providing stiff competition for the award.

Yeah, just one ..... three-peat.
-
Some haven't all year. Why would they start now?
-
Hak wants a new office door? Mr. Reaney is a July '84 DOB. He'd be 21 at the start of the season and as such wouldn't he be limited to just three eligible NCAA seasons? EDIT: Guess not.

The numbers on hockey: Men: http://www.uscho.com/news/2005/02/28_010122.php Women: http://www.uscho.com/news/2005/03/01_010126.php The UND women are "N/A" because the program hasn't been around long enough to have a graduating class.

Using Chris Heisenberg's site as a reference, I've added notes to where recruits have committed to (if they have).
-
There's still only one puck. Who didn't UND land because they didn't want to be in Parise's shadow? Who won't Minnesota land because they don't want to be in Kessel's shadow? Hockey remains a team game.

Thankfully Mike Eaves' "Clinic on Running the 1-2-2*" is leaving Grand Forks with the Sioux having 3 of the 4 weekend points. * Also known as "Eaves' Cure for Insomnia".
-
As it sits right now, if UND gets just one point or UMD fails to earn just one point UND gets the home ice. Put another way: UMD's only way to achieve home ice is sweep Wisconsin and have St. Cloud sweep the Sioux. Here's another thought for UMD fans: UW wants to hold onto third place (as in no play-in game at the Final Five) in the league standings. They need two points to guarantee that.

redwing77, don't fret it. Someone just doesn't seem to like "sudo"-reporters for US College Hockey Online.

Don't you hate it when old guys wander off?
