  1. You're assuming the coming super-conferences stay in the NCAA and don't just go and form their own govering body.
  2. First shoe has dropped. COLORADO TO PAC-10 http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5271438
  3. The issues between UT and NU have been around for a long time. They're finally coming to a head.
  4. That says to me to expect four 16-team superconferences to come out of this where each division champion goes to a "BCS tournament". Welcome to the "Year One" bracket: Pac-10 West champ plays Big Ten East champ Big Ten West champ plays SEC East champ SEC West champ plays ACC East champ ACC West champ plays Pac-10 East champ
  5. The secret Big XII meeting transcript ... http://www.bringonthecats.com/2010/6/7/150...e-big-12-twelve
  6. You know how all politicians work: If they can get what they want by doing nothing, they'll do nothing. They're letting the clock run out but can still say, "I didn't do anything against it."
  7. They've always thought they are the center of everything in Lincoln.
  8. ESPN top of the hour radio news (I'm streaming 1500 ESPN out of MSP) just reported that their sources have learned that the Nebraska regents have voted to join the Big Ten. Expect the announcement and news conference Friday. (Given ESPN inside sources history, for example "Brett Favre" stories, take it for what it's worth.) Honestly, that makes sense from a Big Ten POV: Getting Nebraska folds the Big XII; it effectively kills any midwest television competition for their Big Ten Network.
  9. When he was honored at a home game not that long ago that's what they said. I wonder when that changed.
  10. I'm pretty sure that's a bad assumption. I believe Jim Archibald works as a Canadian customs agent.
  11. There's some serious concern to our south. Remember the old line, "Hey, you don't need to make a federal case out of it!" ... well ... http://www.omaha.com/article/20100609/NEWS...-a-federal-case http://www.omaha.com/article/20100608/NEWS...early-as-friday Why would NU move? More reasons than you think. http://www.omaha.com/article/20100609/NEWS...f-the-field-too
  12. There's the king, and everything else. That's where hockey would stand, along with BB and baseball. Like the article says ...
  13. Beat you by a couple months. http://forum.siouxsports.com/index.php?showtopic=13909
  14. This is one I struggle with. Not having a travel partner really doesn't help or hurt your travel costs. You'll travel to each conference opponent (assume basketball). Sure, a travel partner road trip is arguably going to be close so that's one cheap travel weekend. Not having a travel partner really hurts the rest of the conference, namely their travel budgets. Right now IUPUI or UPFW or MIC-KEY-MOU-SE and the rest of the Summit can make one west trip in a weekend and get two games (NDSU/SDSU). Big cost, but two games on the trip. Big Sky folks won't like the notion of going east to play just UND and no other game on the weekend. That's lose-lose for them: Long expensive travel with only one game. That scenario would work against UND in the eyes of the Big Sky. This is why conferences like to find travel partner pairs, or a team that will make a logical travel partner to an existing member, when they evaluate potential new members.
  15. A couple guys in the press box will have that covered ... "The Virg" is doin' it jumpstyle!
  16. Keep the "Dagger", but everyone in attendance (and watching on Fox College Sport in 54 million homes across the nation) must dance along jumpstyle.
  17. My answer to this poll: How do I get UND into a position to have to make this choice (meaning both offers are on the table)?
  18. Portland State, Sacramento State. More proof that east is west and west is east in MplsBison's world. (You know I had to stick you with that one. )
  19. According to a 2002 Sports Illustrated article (Price, S.L. "The Indian Wars", March 4, 2002, pp 66
  20. Q: How do you keep thousands of folks glued to your Twitter account? A: Tweet
  21. With that bolded part the pitchfork will be carried by MplsBison.
  22. The guy doing the best job of reporting the issue evenly was Tu-Uyen Tran. From my sources, Tran was "too balanced" in the eyes of the Leigh Jeanotte crowd and they made enough noise to the assignment editors at GFH and the change to Haga was made. Haga is much more to the Jeanotte crowd's liking.
  23. How is O'Day seeing a 16-team Big Sky? There aren't that many western FB schools (FBS or FCS). And there aren't that many "DU" (BB only) schools in the west either. If Utah goes Pac-10 and LaTech goes for better geography I see 30 western FB schools in the equation he's talking about: MWC: USAFA, BYU, CSU, UNM, SDSU, TCU, UNLV, Wyo WAC: BSU, FSU, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, NMSU, SJSU, USU BSC: Sac, EWU, Mont, MSU, Weber, NAZ, NoColo, ISU, PSU Great West: Poly, Davis, SUU, UND, USD If the MWC would decide to go for 14 to 16 teams there aren't that many left for O'Day's "14 to 16 team" BSC unless it were merged into a two-tiered (FBS/FCS) WAC.
  24. "Judge, I am not guilty of robbing that bank. It's not my fault that the state didn't provide me with a cop to constantly remind me that bank robbery is illegal. He could have warned me and stopped me from robbing it. I am not taking the blame for your lack of oversight."
  25. I'm more than a little surprised to see the Montana AD say something like that on the record.
