So it's come to the point where arguing about which adjective best fits Joe is all you've got. Jobless Joe?

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/gay 1.having or showing a merry, lively mood: gay spirits; gay music. 2.bright or showy: gay colors; gay ornaments. 3.given to or abounding in social or other pleasures: a gay social season. 4.licentious; dissipated; wanton: The baron is a gay old rogue with an eye for the ladies. 5.homosexual. 6.of, indicating, or supporting homosexual interests or issues: a gay organization. The first four definitions have nothing to do with sexual orientation; and, the first two definitions may well fit a bleach-blond hockey-playing troup. I'd say the word was hijacked.

Was "Pistol Pete" Maravich really armed? Was "Shoeless Joe" Jackson really without any shoes? And did Karl Malone stop by my house and drop off bills again today? Finally, a Stanley Cup captain, Olympic gold medalist, is just a "Kid"? Sometimes a tag that fits is given and sticks for whatever reasons. DamStrait summed it up for this case. Heck, I've heard some refer to him as "Smokey Joe" but that was more about "smoke and mirrors" tactics, not sucking the butt end of a Marlboro (which I don't believe he smokes).

Didn't he come from Montana State to NDSU?

I'm not sure how long "Animal" will be at UND. To me it seems he's figured out the college game already.
-
I already "tin hat" explained how that could happen: The WCHA needs Minnesota at The X for the Final Five for the revenue so UND "loses" (with league/officiating help) WCHA opening round. UND falls in PWR to somewhere 7-10 and is seeded 2 or 3 at the NCAA West at The X the next week. WCHA makes money. NCAA makes money. UND goes on four game winning streak.

If Brian Idalski wants to become the "Geno Auriemma" of college womens hockey I could live with that.

If you're looking at a helmet, don't forget the mouthguard. Bruneteau is wearing a special helmet and special mouthguard because of his concussion history.

More than likely, that mandate will probably come from the Legislature. And there are those in the Legislature that don't like the "Higher Ed Roundtable" that gave more power and autonomy to the SBoHE (instead of the Legislature having more direct control). This'll be a great excuse for those folks to rear their heads again and try to turn back the clock on that. Like I said before, this whole mess will be a "gift" that keeps on giving for a very long time and every campus in the NDUS will feel the impacts.

Keep hoping for partly cloudy, 35 during the day, 15 overnight, light winds, ... and no precipitation.

When have I said "fire them!" I want them to do their job and set (and enforce) policy for the system. And it's their system to set policy over ... budgets, personnel, monikers, whatever.

A problem at North Dakota STATE Univeristy isn't the state's problem?

Re-reading Adams' letter and attachments I'm left pondering: 1. Given the wonderful history of late between UND and NDSU administration, why would UND offer up what Adams claims Gallagher offered up? Unless Adams and Gallagher are really good friends, why Gallagher would tell anything like that to his NDSU counterpart? Gallagher would have to know it would come out and haunt him. Would he really say something like that? Something there doesn't make sense. 2. The last attachment of Adams' letter is a memo to Chapman dated November 18, 2008. That's a year before before this came to a head. And the data in there were NDSU's own work, and they were presenting "caution" and "concern" over the budget situation then. What did Chapman do in the mean time to take care of the issues (before choosing to leave them to Hanson)? 3. We haven't heard of a draft audit report, much less a final report, being ready, and yet the state auditors are asking for Attorney General opinions.

Wrong. http://www.ndus.edu/sbhe/ Asking if they've been asleep at the switch is a legitimate question.

Cleopatra. The more I look at the lyrics to "Cleopatra, Queen of Denial" (Pam Tillis) the more they fit how too many NDSU "Cleopatras" are viewing their "romance" with Chapman: Well I said he had a lot of potential He was only misunderstood You know he didn't really mean to treat me so bad He wanted to be good And I swore one day I would tame him Even though he loved to run hog wild Just call me Cleopatra everybody, 'cause I'm the Queen of Denial I knew he didn't have any money Yeah that's why he couldn't buy me a ring Oh and just because he bought himself a brand new pickup truck Really didn't prove anything And he never had to say he loved me I could see it every time he smiled Just call me Cleopatra everybody, 'cause I'm the Queen of Denial Oh Queen of Denial, buyin' all his alibis Queen of Denial, floatin' down a river of lies Well I'm not gonna jump to conclusions Or throw away this perfect romance Even though I caught him dancin' last night With a girl in a leopard skin pants Yeah, he's probably stuck in traffic And he'll be here in a litte while Just call me Cleopatra everybody, 'cause I'm the Queen of Denial Oh Queen of Denial, buyin' all his alibis Queen of Denial, just floatin' down a river of lies

Wait a minute ... Barry Hall was supposed to be a $20 million project. That they went $3 million over came out during the whole NDSU president's house debacle. But it seems they really went $3 and a half million over now.

Clearly that is not possible, you thinking that is. He contacted the head. Penalty (Rule 6, Section 23 I believe). He has history of contact to head. Supplemental Discipline (Rule 4, Section 10 I believe.) Don't worry, those three games will be here and gone in no time, ... just like your MacNaughton dreams.

If Geoffreon *had* said that he'd be suspended for a game. See: Mario Lamoureux.

Now yes, the letter was written by the man to put himself in the best possible light, but I also almost feel sorry for Adams. He was basically told he had to "proceed or risk losing (his) job". Heck of a nice guy that Chapman putting another person in that position. What I find more interesting are the attachments. Adams knew the books weren't good. He details accounts and amounts of concern pretty well. In his Nov 18 memo he says, "Without both of these there are serious concerns about meeting budget in the new biennium." (Both means both a 4% tuition increase and 400 more students in fall 2009.) Chapman knew that and when it got tough he resigned and moved to Colorado. If that's in a letter of resignation, what'll the audit report have in it?
