I keep hearing how deep we are at receiver, so, run (QB converted to TE) Seth Nichols under center as Hendrickson's backup for a couple weeks. They'll only have to run the "no Hanson" playbook: Jake goes left, Jake goes right, Mitch up the middle. Up 21? Oh Jer ... Up 35? Oh PJ ... Yes, Nichols is listed as a TE but we never throw to TEs anyway so just tell Taylor Grant that it's time to put the blocking pads on.

Structurally Hyslop is sound. Beyond that it needs work. No matter what, the academic part of UND would love that space on the map, right by Witmer, Abbott, Leonard, and Starcher. You really can't do anything with Hyslop until the current occupants have somewhere to go, hence today's announcement. The long-range plan for the on-campus Wellness Center included building a pool on the north end at some point.

The last story I'd heard was that they were about $2 million short of the $20 million to build what they wanted in an ITF. A $9 million gift should take care of that and more.

What would be so complicated? "Hi, we're leaving." They'd have a new organization and new bylaws (and television deals) in place in no time. Why? There's money to be made by them. I was skeptical of "three tiers" until I read what Saban and Benson said recently. Now I believe we may see it as soon as 2014 (new playoff).

Or NMSU AD Boston is three weeks behind (or completely, cluelessly out of the loop).

What's the commissioner of the Sun Belt Conference saying? Gee, it sounds like Benson (SBC commish) has heard of something like Saban's plan (top 70 or so). Where else would this "below the line" conferences statement come from? My guess? Above the line: SEC, Pac-12, Big Ten, ACC, Big 12*, Big East* Below the line: Sun Belt, MAC, C-USA, Mountain West, WAC (RIP) So there's the "third tier" (middle tier) of Division I football de facto forming. If Saban tipped the hand of what the plan is, I suspect the "second tier" will be highlighted by the MAC, Sunbelt, CAA, Big Sky, and MVFC. We could even see part (bottom half or so) of the Moutain West and C-USA.

Hurd, we have de facto three tiers today: FBS, FCS (with scholarships) FCS (no scholarships and the schools that don't play for FCS playoffs) What I see under Saban's plan: The top 70 or so (with N > 85 scholarships and mandatory cash stipends to players) The next 70 or so (with something like 75 scholarships, to merge FBS and FCS, and no stipends) The bottom run (no scholarships and the schools that don't play for FCS playoffs)

In your opinion, the jersery should be loose, ala the Dorsett image. In the opinion of today's players, and apparel makers, it should be tight and form-fitted. They guys who wear them win the opinion battle.
