Tom Buning and Gene Taylor on KFGO Today

Well it was a rumor until it got announced late today. It doesn't sound like everyone over there is totally onboard with another away game. CM is def a quality opponent but you still need another home game.

P.S. I hope we don't play you until 2009. I can wait until everyone is settled and the field is fair so that there can be no complaining by either fan base that the game hurt their team.

Well, you may have to wait longer than that. Provided NDSU is in the Gateway, of course.

If and when NDSU returns to the Alerus Center I will be sure that is not one of the home games I attend that year. Buying a ticket to that game is like giving money to NDSU

How does buying a ticket to attend an event at the Alerus Center put money into NDSU's pockets?

It's worth noting that Central Michigan won both the MAC championship and the Motor City Bowl last year. Another quality opponent for the Bison.

The only reason CMU has done anything is because of Brian Kelly.

IE, the genius who was the reason for GVSU winning back to back DII national titles in 02 and 03 (not to mention losing to UND in the national title game in 01).

Without them, they're just another Ball State.

But a solid opponent and a nice payday for NDSU, nonetheless.

Do you need any more proof that NDSU wants 2 FBS games per year more than it wants a game with UND?

NDSU is not playoff eligible for 07.

We could've scheduled 7 FBS teams if we wanted to.

For 2008 and beyond, NDSU only wants 1 FBS team max.

Again, Gene Taylor has said that ideally NDSU would have two FBS teams on its schedule not one, and has proceeded to schedule that way. Denying objective reality only undermines your own credibility.

I doubt he has ever said this.

And if he did, it was only for the non playoff eligible seasons.

He only wants 1 FBS game per season for 08 and beyond.

I understand why you are so tenacious on this point - it greatly reduces the chance of NDSU ever scheduling a home and home series with UND. But it is true, NDSU will, whenever it can, be scheduling two FBS teams. Even after they are playoff eligible. What you seem to be unable to understand is that they plan on WINNING at least one of those games each year. Thus, scheduling two will not hurt their playoff chances.

Neither of us will disappointed because you want the UND game as much as anyone. No need to lie about it.

Some Bison fans, and some Sioux fans, really don't want to see this game happen. Both schools will do just fine on their own. I would argue that they will both do better without the burden of this malignant rivalry. Why is this so hard for you to understand?

Let's start a new thread and see how the vote goes.

How many could care less if UND ever plays NDSU again? Of course even if that came to pass the Bi-sons would still be chanting anti-Sioux chants just because they have no one else to hate and the only way they can feel good about their school/team is to put another one down.

I would not miss the Bi-son.

If you buy a ticket to a Twins/Tigers game at the Metrodome the Tigers are getting a cut of the money made.

And therefore NDSU gets money from a football game against UND at the Alerus?

Simply, no. Not even close.

NDSU will never see a single cent from any event at the Alerus center.

Why is it so hard for me to accept a concept that is obviously wrong? I guess it just is.

It's hard for me to accept that 1+1=3. It's simply not true.

Need is a strong word. I don't think UND or NDSU need each other.

Just like a person doesn't need to eat sweets.

It just makes life worth living.

If you can't see the irony in your post then your beyond help. You make a snide remark about NDSU fans and then you ridicule them for allegedly chanting anti-sioux chants and you say it's so they can feel good about their team or school. So whats your excuse? I was at the Minnesota game and I never heard anyone say anything before during or after the game regarding the sioux. You guys really must think your important that you believe all we have to do is obsess over you. I come over here to read what's going on in your transition plans and this is all you and mplsbison who's nothing but a Sioux fan posting as a Bison fan have to talk about? Get over yourself already.

personally, i question any 'fan' of a team that isnt willing to watch their team play because the opposing team. That seems more like an obsession and hate of the opposing team than a love for yours.

its childish, the world needs less people like that

You know, sometimes things that seem to be obvious turn out to be completely wrong if we just take a step away from them. It is not obvious, at least not to a thinking person, that virulent sports rivalries benefit anyone. All I'm suggesting is that fans of both schools step away from the rivalry for a period of time. Perhaps we'll find that it's not as important as we once thought.

That indirectly makes money for NDSU if they continue the series with UND.

Incorrect again.

There is no possible way you can spin it.

It's impossible for NDSU to ever make a single cent, directly or indirectly, from playing at UND.

You're just a bandwagon fan.
