You nailed it as I thought the same exact thing. That’s a lot of egos in that locker room with each having expectations of getting a very good amount of playing time. It’s one thing to get them committed, now Nightingale has to get them all to mesh and buy in when they show up on campus.

It’s a bit different now because some of these high end picks are staying a year or 2 longer thanks to the NIL money. Michael Hage and Perron sticking around for Michigan would have never happened if it weren’t for the bag of cash teams can use now

Perron being his size with still a so/so defensive game I’d say is the reason he’s still at Michigan. (And if it hasn’t sunk in by now not sure it ever will)

Even with his skill I think it would be a reach to imagine him leaving this last April and trying to lock down a roster spot in Carolina.

And your thoughts on Hage? Since my point was more so high picks staying longer thanks to NIL. Which is going to make it more likely that these high end teams will actually start winning the final games of the year with the top players being older.

Hage even still I think it was overblown about him not turning pro

Still could use another year to add muscle. Definitely won’t hurt. Plus he was going to spend a majority this summer rehabbing his injury he was battling in April

I don’t buy the theory he was gona turn pro and then saw an NIL check and changed his mind. Just an added bonus

Other teams are prob worried about losing their studs before arriving at campus too.

Tommy Bleyl was supposed to play in Moncton this year, but is instead going to East Lansing a year early. Perhaps because they were unable to get DuPont, another righty. Interesting to see how Nightingale keeps all these egos happy without there being any resentment for not getting more TOI/pp1/pk1 time. Seems like most NYers in the past went to either BC or BU, but not him.
