One more thought before bed. It's good seeing kids getting some ATO games after their juniors season ends and then going to college the next fall when a few years ago doing so would have voided their eligibility. Haven't seen much about it (either for or against), but giving them a taste of the grind that is the AHL will make them appreciate how good they have it in NCAA.

The more I think about it on the whole age thing, the more I agree that you shouldn't be 21 as a freshman. At the most a player shouldn't be older than 20 at the start of the school year. If a player turns 21 during their freshman season they lose a year of eligibility.

Was just reading this as well.
Hopefully the NCAA listens and accepts this proposal for hockey, would make a lot more sense.

From your quote: "The commissioners have countered with a proposal that would start the clock at the time of college enrollment, no later than age 19."

So does that new proposal mean that no players would be allowed to start their college hockey careers after the age of 19, or that the players will have a year deducted from their 5 years of eligibility for each year after their 19th year when they start?

The latter.
They start at 19, they get 5 years of eligibility.  They start at 20, they get 4.  And so on.
