cberkas Posted Sunday at 10:29 AM Author Posted Sunday at 10:29 AM Teams wanting to add 2 more coaches, they would be on ice non-recruiting. I don’t hate it, it would put it on par with the NHL and pros. Using UND as an example: Jax (HC), Smaby (AHC), Simpson (AC), JPL (GC), Ulmer (PDC/VC), Bryn (GM). Using Jason Ulmer at that position, interesting he’s a scout for the Regina Pat’s. Having someone with no ties to UND as a player development coach wouldn’t be a bad idea either, getting some new blood in the coaching pipeline. You know they’ll want someone with NCAA/NHL experience to fill those rolls if the NCAA allows it. Quote

Clarkson is interesting, though, and you have to figure Quinnipiac may follow suit. As for the rest of the conference, who knows (except for the Ivys where it will never happen in a million years) Quote
cberkas Posted 20 hours ago Author Posted 20 hours ago With teams looking ad jersey and helmet ads. SCSU should go full Euro hockey and have ads all over their jerseys since the consensus is the school will be gone in a few years. Need to get revenue some how. Quote

cberkas Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago NCAA is trying to stop the pro players coming back in football and basketball, also have they JUCO ruling where that doesn't count against eligibility for some reason. NCAA will get sued and lose again. They'd be better saying you can't play if you start the season or school year at 25. Quote
mikejm Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago College hockey should just cut the cord with the NCAA and operate in its own ecosystem. Like College Football Playoffs are outside the NCAA’s purview Quote

Like College Football Playoffs are outside the NCAA’s purview Would be nice to have a separate governing body that is more attuned to the needs & ways of college hockey; instead of just one organization that oversees everything from women's golf to men's fb. The current age issue highlights the ineptness of the NCAA trying to implement a one-size-fits-all rule for different sports with different development paths. If college hockey did break away, it would likely be the lead domino & other sports would follow suit. Having a twelve-member board comprised of two representatives from each of the six college hockey conferences would be one possibility. Having an autonomous board would expedite any changes that need to be made, reduce any unnecessary politics that naturally accompany a bloated national bureaucracy, & would better serve the sport & its unique needs. Biggest obstacle to that would likely be the university presidents, who are gatekeepers for the status quo & don't like to rock the boat. 2 Quote

Teddy was someone you figured had that job as long as he wanted and I don't necessarily think he was pushed out based on this statement and his connections. It could be that he genuinely didn't believe he could keep up given all the forces that are present in the NCAA and additionally with the kind of challenges that being at Harvard presents Quote

For college hockey to break away from the NCAA, they need to call the Saudis to fund it. Let's face it that might not be a good idea, even getting PE firms to invest would have strings attached. The grass my look greener on the other side but might not be better. Quote
