Lol.  Couldn’t be the talent of the players he had to work with, could it?   I’ve heard every excuse made here except for the talent level of the players themselves.  They are not responsible for anything evidently.
And I guess within year 1, Hutter was supposed to erase a decade of UND futility in the minds of any potential transfers, along with personally cooking homemade gourmet meals for the team while he also flies a private jet to all away games.   Did I miss anything?

Brenda Frese (then known as Brenda Oldfield) served as the University of Minnesota women's basketball head coach for one season (2001–02), executing a dramatic turnaround by guiding the team from an 8-20 record the previous year to a 22-8 record. She was named the 2002 Associated Press National Coach of the Year for this quick revival.  It can be done.  Schwartz did it. Roebuck did it.

Mayville also beat a d1 team (I forgot who) Hutters last year at mayville. I’m sure they would have been fine in any conference at that level

I am sure the Chaminade coach that beat #1 Virginia went to a blue blood program after that.

You did give me a good laugh.

We will see what type of roster he can put together this coming year.

Hopefully, they can make the jump and be competitive.

how did 26 and 3 in his last year at mayville just about get beat by bismark college in their first season as a 4yr institution at home???? yes it's a fact watch the replay bismark college outplayed us and out coached us... tape don't lie

Cause our team was not very talented this year.  Some times it’s the Jane’s and Jan’s and ours were not that good.

The coaching wasn’t very good either so plenty of improvement and blame all the way around.  Guessing the players were plenty frustrated only winning 7 games and  I don’t blame coaches for “benching” players at the end of the year and trying new lineups.  When you have 7 wins I’m not sure it really matters.

My best guess is by that time of the year playing time was earned by more than just 10 pts/10 rebounds but I’m only a fan in the stands that consistently watched 20+ turnovers a game.  Most of them had nothing to do with coaching and just players getting outplayed.

lol.  Did every other school in the past 25 years that didn’t have such a dramatic turn around in year 1 call for the new coaches’ head?  If you don’t realize how the new transfer rules and NIL money has put low level D 1 schools at an even greater disadvantage compared to your example of a Big 10 team from 25 years ago, I don’t know what to tell you.
I guess if Geno Auriemma had been coaching UND these last two years with our roster, we would be on a 53 game winning streak and looking at a repeat.   Because players don’t matter; it’s all about the coaching.

In part, they had a more difficult schedule playing in the Frontier.

The number of teams they played that were ranked or receiving votes was higher than Hutter's last year.

Jamestown can attest to the level of play in the GPAC was different than the North Star.

I am sure Hutter will coach at least to the end of his contract.

he doesn't have a contract

Did the current coach have a hand in this years roster?  Coach Eighmey's team is playing tomorrow.  Apparently, she was able to acquire players.

Coaching staffs and players matter.

I wouldn't bet against Geno and his staff, he seems to know how to attract players and develop them.

staff matters, eighmey hired paul fessler assistant coach this season, he had extensive d1 coaching experience and was a successful d2 head coach in the nsic before his d1 stops, bringing in someone like that to help their team has paid huge dividends for USD this season

Wow.  LOL.  It's hard to respond to this level of ignorance.

I see that Sky Volmer intends to transfer sorry to hear that. It will be interesting to see where she goes to she has the quickness and I believe ability to play at this level but she needs to get stronger and more physical if she is going to have success at this level. I could see her dropping down level if she is looking for more playing time.

You don't think Geno could make this group more competitive. I am not talking wins and losses.  I talking development.

I leave you with a Geno quote.

“When you’re losing,” Geno said, “you can’t keep doing things the same way. The leader must change how we work, strategize, and practice.”

It was only year 1! He’s bringing in a new assistant. Sounds like Hutter is trying to make some changes. We’ll know a lot more after year 2
