Honestly I was surprised he didn’t challenge Wiebe more on that one after their D had been beaten.  He pretty much stayed back in the net; didn’t seem to come out even a little to cut down the angle and no poke check.

My thoughts as well

I think he was betting on Wiebe making a move to the other side of the net but guessed wrong

Wiebe came in low, though, so a poke check would have stopped a move to the other side.  I think he expected Wiebe to go 5-hole as he moved across the crease.

Also an indication of how impressive their goaltending was.  Not all shots were grade A, but a lot of them were.  Was frankly surprised Wiebe was able to put that one in.

I think thats probably a play he'd like to have back.  With the way goalies almost automatically go into RVH on whatever post the puck is on he gets caught between challenge the play with slight overlap on the post, or go into RVH if he goes lower on the goal line with the puck.  He gets caught low and when Wiebe cuts across to his forehand its a done deal, #25 is too good for that kind of mistake.  Wiebe also being a left handed shot coming in on his off wing per say would lead me as a goaltender to want to establish good depth right away and shy away from an RVH in that situation.

That being said, that kid is the NCHC goaltender of the week or the system is broken.
