Try this defense against a good team and would be down 25 by now. And can we stop bombing 3s? Nobody but Kraft at this point should be putting up a 3 in this game. Quote
Hans8891 Posted Friday at 02:29 AM Posted Friday at 02:29 AM Our young guards show some promise offensively but are going to need a lot of work defensively. We play matador defense on vertical penetration. Defensively Eli can’t leave the floor or we are in trouble. Shooting has been very poor but getting open looks. Just not falling. Shooting 36 percent. Jones has gone strong on the inside which is encouraging. Kraft so far is the only one who has hit a 3. Quote

The pressure is literally the main thing keeping us in the game 😂 doesn’t matter if it wouldn’t work against a good team because its working right now. 1 3 Quote

Idk if I totally agree with that. It's more that they just arent very good. And id say 3/4 of their points have been easy ones from breaking the pressure. But our rotation has definitely been better the 2nd half. But im still not sold on the defense working as we are still getting beat by a bad team. Quote

Hans8891 Posted Friday at 03:00 AM Posted Friday at 03:00 AM Smith is going to struggle with strength on d, but he has a wicked fast first step to the lane. He has left people in the dust several times in the last couple of minutes. 2 Quote

rochsioux Posted Friday at 03:05 AM Posted Friday at 03:05 AM 70-74 final. Hard to get excited about the season. Quote
NDRoots4Life Posted Friday at 04:44 AM Posted Friday at 04:44 AM I had an event tonight so watched it delayed. This is going to be a hard season to watch if the games continue to look like this. This is some very ugly basketball. Not D1 quality at all, both their skill level and decision making out there. 1 1 Quote

UND92,96 Posted Friday at 01:39 PM Posted Friday at 01:39 PM Obviously this team has shortcomings, and criticism is warranted, but with regard to last night's game, this has to be kept in mind (from Alex Faber's Herald article): Quote GRAND FORKS — Anthony Smith III felt terrible before Thursday night’s game at the Betty Engelstad Sioux center. UND’s freshman guard, like most of his teammates, had spent the last 24 hours dealing with an illness ahead of the home opener against UC Riverside. "All that’s happened within the last 24 hours health wise, I’ve got to give our guys credit, I thought they really battled," head coach Paul Sather said. "We had a lot of guys hooked up to IVs today, just trying to get some fluids, me included." Marley Curtis was barely able to play, and of course Micah is still out. If nothing else, it's going to be interesting to watch the development of Uelmen, Smith and the Curtises over the course of the season. 2 Quote
