The USA Hockey Minnesota Advanced Select 16 and 17 festivals are taking place at Plymouth Ice Center. Remember that this is the final 54 roster, after this weekend they trim it down to 20 which is the roster they use for the national select festival in the summer. Here is the schedule and rosters for both tournaments,

I watched Miller play a lot in high school, I think we are going to be alright without him. He was able to finish against the lower/mid-tier high school teams, but seemed to struggle when the games meant a little more. He has decent size, but lacks speed to really be a strong forward down low. I would compare him to a Mike Howe or Brad Malone type player. He may work out for the Gophs if he is willing to accept the role given to him. I wouldn't consider him a key miss however.

I think he'll fit in just fine, won't be a big difference maker but a good guy to have...

I thought when Miller was with Wayzata that he was a faster player, not a grinder like Malone. Does anybody else have info as to what he brings to the table.

I saw Alex Gaustad from Grafton, Pat Arnason from Red River, and David Burdick from Fargo South listed. Any other North Dakota boys out there?

I have been following the Canadian Midget Championship (Telus Cup 2008) because it is taking place right up the road from me. I haven't noted any UND scouts in attendance however they should be scouting members of the Winnipeg Thrashers as they have been the best team at the tournament thus far amd could produce some great DI recruits in a couple of years. Quarterbacking on the blueline for Winnipeg is young Zajac, who is smaller than his brothers but is still a very slick playmaker. Other impressive players are Hall and Stone.

You can watch Nolan Zajac and the Winnipeg Thrashers on the Telus webcast this afternoon.

Thanks for posting about the tournament, I didn't get a notice about it this week. I would imagine that were looking at a few of these kids, here are the rosters for the tourney,

On another note, Minnesota Hockey names their Select 17 National list that will compete in the festival this summer. Many of these guys are already committed, but I would imagine that were looking at a few of these players, here is the roster,

Any Sioux commits on the Select 17 list? If I can count right I see 3 Gophers but I could be wrong, and maybe 1 Wisconsin?
