Yeah, that'd be my guess as well.
Could see UND snagging Grubb & Zimmerman off that list.
Guys like Fitzhenry and Schneider would be great gets, but those would be huge steals from the MN schools and not sure if we're on their radar.
Agreed that the Canadian list will have more options for UND.

Schneider isn’t coming here…I think we have a  small chance with Fitzhenry…larger one with Geiger

This is one stacked list of potentials for the Canada WJC team.
Gonna be hard to beat them this winter with whatever lineup they trim this down to.

Canada Red lines:
Boisvert - Catton - Martone
Reschny - Hage - Kindel
Beaudoin - Vanacker - Martin
Cootes
Schaefer - Brunicke
Aitcheson - Mews
Reid - Gill
George/Gardner

Canada White lines:
McKenna - Misa - Carbonneau
Spence - Lindstrom - Ritchie
Josephson - O’Brien - Parascak
Wetsch
Dickinson - Danford
Smith - Elick
Protz
Ivankovic/Ravensbergen

I’ll be shocked if they lose a game this year. Super loaded…and they’ll be missing players too. Depth upon depth.

Northfield makes me think elite academic reputation will be non-negotiable for Geiger. Just a guess though.

Maybe that's true, but although St. Olaf and Carelton are very good colleges, I don't think they would be considered elite outside the midwest. I personally would have been happy had my kids chosen either of them.

Only weaknesses (and I’m nitpicking ALOT)

the D maybe isn’t the deepest if they have an injury like Schafer pop up as it did last year

And then for some reason Ivankovic falters but that’s unlikely. He’s been nails in every world tournament he plays in

Carleton debatable, Olaf no. But professors (and people otherwise affiliated with colleges) are more likely to have kids at elite schools.

Part of the reason why so many Canadian goalies have sucked is because they’ve gone the major junior route, and most of the CHL (yes even the Dub), lacks solid defensive structure and the goalies get lit up like a shooter tutor. Also, CHLers under the old rules were forced to turn pro at 20/21 years old, and most of em aren’t good enough to breakthrough into the A at that age, forcing them into the Coast or complete bust status.

If more of even the decent Canadian goalies went the NCAA route like Devon Levi did, I think they’d have better results in pro. The new rules allowing CHLers to play in the NCAA should really help Canadian goalies. I fully expect Josh Ravensbergen (2007) to go to the NCAA before he turns pro, as Jack Ivankovic (2007) will be doing at Michigan.

This is a very good call out that I hadn't reflected on.  Great post.

Fitzy is probably the best goal scorer in the 2009 age group.  He would be an unreal get.  He will have every blue blood offering him on 8/1

Fitzhenry only follows 2 programs on Instagram: Minnesota & Michigan. Certainly not the biggest indicator, but it still is an indicator of current/recent past interest.

I’m hearing Zac Zimmerman and Colin Grubb are two American names to watch on Friday.

Grubb, Zimm, and DuPont would be a nice Friday haul.
To go along with Desnoyers to complete the 25/26 roster.

One Bat Signal...four huge gets.  ;) :)

Very worried Zimmerman commits to Minnesota

My source within gopher circles said that Zimmerman was a UND lock as of this spring around the coaching change.

A lot can change since then.

Won’t be Desnoyers

What's your guess on that last spot?  Pridham maybe?

Wasn't Carels the rumored player that said he was coming to UND after the Reschny/Verhoeff commits?

Carels was rumored, but obviously his ETA is 2026 at the earliest.

I think he grew up a UND fan. And was wearing a UND hat the Fargo regional. But if UND doesn't offer or the coaching change changed his mind then yeah. He was following UND on instagram but isn't anymore.

Notre Dame likes recruiting Minnesotans, especially the prestige/academically inclined. They'll get a few MN kids in this cycle most likely
