Would completely agree…other than puckpreps throwing our image in their posts about him…I don’t think we were ever really in on him.

Caleb Desnoyers is a real target. Bryn follows him and never followed Martone. 
 

If it’s not Desnoyers, it could literally be anyone. They are probably waiting him out and back filling the roster if they are not able to land him.

I’m sure we tossed out a line…but he follows psu, msu and Mich accounts on insta…guessing we were 4 out of 4. Were always in the running as many of these scouts/advisors know of our rink, past players, etc. This is all new for them but they def know Parise, toews etc from back in the day.

He just said we were not close on him, not necessarily that we weren’t in on him at all.

I just think we weren't close to what MSU was offering and I also think Martone isn't what Jax is looking for.

Not sure we will be landing another high skilled guy for this years team. I think there is a lot of faith in the returning core, plus Menghini and Rickwood. I also think Swanson, Littler and Croal will be a lot bigger piece to the puzzle. Dane is bringing in guys that want to be here, I truly believe Reschny and Verhoeff wanted to come here.

Sounds like MSU had money put aside for McKenna(200-300k) and just re-allocated that for Martone.  UND isn't going to be paying that much for 1 player so if $$$ are the main driver UND probably doesn't have a shot.  Btw I'm ok with this, having certain guys making wayyy more money than other players could create a pretty tense locker room dynamic if it goes south.

If money was the swaying factor for Martone + with him very likely being a 1 year player those 2 factors may have turned off UND's staff.

Desnoyers is an April birth date, slighter build, and could probably stand to use a couple years to develop in the NCAA in lieu of being 1 and done. He's likely going to the WJC showcase in MSP later this week (there was a note about him maybe being banged up so that's why i'll say "likely" . Hopefully he takes a stop in Forks before heading there and we can get him to commit on the spot after walking the ralph.

Littler, Swanson, and Croal are three guys that were better junior players than most players we could bring in next season. An important part of Bryn’s job will be to keep those guys around for their whole college career. As fun as it is to get the guys that Bryn has recruited the last couple of months, it is just as important for him to keep these underclassman around.

Brampton was trying there best to put Martone in an awkward spot.

They posted about him coming back there for a charity game event a week or 2 ago. (curious if they even asked him before posting that)

Exactly. As we always say, you need to find a balance between the super elite 1-2 year mercenaries & the 3-4 year culture guys. Denver has found a sweet spot of 2-3 year guys & has become the standard in the NCAA.

Why not take a stab at Mercyhurst transfer Boris Skalos? Played for Fargo and had 27 pts in 35 games as a freshman 2 years ago. Only 14 in 34 in last season but a bounce back could be in store…

JR Perdion, a freshman transfer from Long Island, follows UND hockey on instagram. He is the top forward on Schloss’ board. Something to watch.

I have only read really good things about him and his game. He is loosely linked to BC, I’m not sure if Carbonneau leaving or Hagens probably staying affects anything. Outside of BC, UND could have a legit shot. BU and the Big Ten schools are probably out on him. Bryn recently following him on instagram is a good sign.
