Grubb is a must. I’ve seen him play a couple times, really solid player.

We can't miss out on the best kids from the state, even if they grew up in western ND.

We can't be happy with hard working dudes who want to be part of the program.   We need not worry about 19/20 year olds who are "good" hockey players...they are a dime a dozen.  We need to be landing the guys that are special...Parise, Toews, Oshie, Boeser, Schmaltz, Sanderson....truly elite talent...I am terrified we are becoming St Cloud, Mankato, Duluth....BU, BC, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Denver....seem to be leaving us in the dust

I know Bubs is a great dude, program first, but is the fact he is a former defenseman (as is Sandy in Duluth) a problem....where top end prospect forwards don't want to play for a head coach who is a dman...

There are some 19 year olds I'd take but they signed their ECLs already. There is two playing for Spokane that are lighting it up, but they signed.

for sure, and the fact they signed means off limits, and they are very good.

and before someone answers tough, I'm not talking about the kids when they were born.  I mean that 10 years ago the top kids who are 15, 16, 17 had UND right at the top

Hard to win a championship with a roster full of Celebrinis; need some Croals, Littlers, Swansons also.

Would be interested in your take on how DU is recruiting Fs mostly drafted in the 3rd-7th rounds (far from truly elite Fs like BC, BU & MI has had recently) yet they continue to bring home the hardware. It's my contention that clutch goaltending, a shutdown D & savvy coaching (like DU has had) are the main keys to going deep in the playoffs. Rarely do you see a championship game decided by shoot-out scores of 7-6 or 6-5 where guys like Hagens or Leonard explode & are the main factors; it's mostly defense & goaltending that win national titles.

So...I agree with you.   However, the fan base loves the elite players making plays even if they fall short of the big trophy.  Our issue is we aren't doing either...we aren't winning, and we aren't losing in the Natty's with an exciting team full of future NHLers

I couldn't bite my tongue anymore...here's the deal, if you are playing anything other than tier 1 junior hockey (CHL, USHL, NTDP) at 17, you are not a chipper.  If you are playing "up" into junior age eligible hockey, you are probably good, but your stats don't count (this includes the spendy prep schools)...you are a tier 1 junior player prospect racking up points vs kids who might be older but they weren't good enough to move on to junior hockey.

I don't hear Carle talking about #culture every chance he gets like Berry does. Denver lets them have freedom also while playing a responsible game.

Carle is also very upfront in terms of this is how i see you and your role throughout our time together.  He shows the path they will take and then leads them on it.

So is Berry recruiting fowards for next year or just waiting for the portal to open. Pretty quiet on the recruiting front.

My money is on the portal showcase

I agree with most of your posts….but there are a ton of high high end head coaches that were dmen. Hak was a dman…heck Carle was a dman too and that guy has been on a heater.  I actually love when coaches were dmen….but I agree. We need more blue chips year in and year out to consistently compete.

A click aggressive here…but i suppose you are correct if you’re talking about the bluest of blue chips. :)
