brianvf Posted yesterday at 03:05 AM Posted yesterday at 03:05 AM The last time I was at the Kohl Center was for the UND/UW regional semi-final that Kozek won in OT. There were a few more fans there that night. And all us UND fans were high-fiving each other on the way out. 1 Quote

There were a few more fans there that night. And all us UND fans were high-fiving each other on the way out. Oh man, I feel like I had a hand in that game! We were struggling offensively through two periods big time. Down 2-0 but felt like a bigger gap than that. From the perspective of that video above, the UND parents section was straight down below by the glass. I was sitting next to the Finley's in Coach Osh's seat, row 2 seat 2, since he went up to the press box. Along the way, we tried different things for luck...Joe's mom, being that Joe was #2, decided it would be a good idea to sit in seat #2 where I was, so we swapped. Didn't seem to work. Leading up to the game, and in the game itself, our top line was Duncan, Oshie, and I want to say Rylan Kaip, but memory is escaping me for sure....BUT, earlier in the year there was a period of time when it was Duncan, Oshie, and Kozek. They scored a ton and I thought they clicked. I'm guessing Hakstol liked someone with Kozek's shot and scoring ability on the second line for some balance which is why he didn't stay up there. I was convinced enough that moving Kozek back to the top line was a good idea that after the second period I ran over to the tunnel (in the video above, near-side on the right) and yelled to Hak "PUT KOZEK ON THE TOP LINE!!" A Badger fan standing there along the railing said "Do you think he's going to listen to you?!" In my mind I thought he was probably right, so scurried on back to my seat. But sure enough, to start the third, Kozek was there again on the top line. Then boom, it was all downhill from there. Unbelievable third period and overtime. Kozek scored that game-winner right in front of us and it was pandemonium. I turned to make eye contact with that Badger fan and he looked back at me, and with the biggest grin on my face gave him the biggest double birds of my life. I'll always wonder if I had a legitimate role in that or not. Maybe one day I'll get to run into Hak again and I can ask. 2 4 Quote

brianvf Posted yesterday at 04:53 AM Posted yesterday at 04:53 AM Haha great story. I remember that the UND offense wasn't flowing very well through either game that weekend. They beat Princeton in the first game but got heavily outshot (I had to go back and check the boxscore...UND won 5-1 but got outshot 39-18...Duncan with the hatty). And then in the UW game, Duncan's game tying goal in the 3rd that went post and in...that was the loudest post shot I'd ever heard in a game before...it echoed thru the Kohl Center. Quote

What a great line change decision by Hak, and it got referenced around 1:55:50 of the BlackHeart game video below. Hard to imagine your move didn't play some role. Well done. Quote

AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago East Coast hockey is just different. After a breakaway and save, MSU's player was hovering over the BU goalie and nobody even skater in his direction. Even in beer league you at least make your goalie feel like you have his back. Quote
