You guys are mean. She's a nice lady! 😁

She probably is and I don't have an issue with her necessarily as I do with all of the minions that flock around her and call her mama gaber. Makes me wanna puke

Now go tell the Mama Gaber fan club that a non conference shootout win doesn't count for anything.....:whistling:

Nothing amuses me more than watching some home fans hugging and crying the joy out like the Sioux just won the Stanley Cup…after a non-conference shootout W.

Like I said before, you can Win and lose at the same time. Which is exactly what happened over the RMU weekend.

Yeah, the groupies are annoying.

Obviously, you and I don't know for a fact what the coaches are doing, and we are just speculating but I have a hard time with that. If we are prioritizing other positions over goaltending, than the coaches should be scrutinized heavily. Like you said, the portal has become a crutch and maybe it's time that crutch be kicked out from under them.

Can't argue with that. I just don't think it's a massive problem to bring in a quality veteran.

That group is a cesspool.

The moment the regulation game clock hit 00:00 with the score tied was a bad downer for UND.  They managed to not have to eat the whole pile of poop by actually winning in OT, but, yea, you get the idea.

I agree it is nice to have that as a way to fill in the gap, especially like we had a couple years ago when we had no returning defensemen.  I would however say that scenario is a failure in management of your classes and really your recruits that didn't fit/meet expectations.   If the "culture" that they always talk about is real, then outside of filling a gap here or there, why would you continue to pull from other team's culture rather than developing your own and knowing exactly what you have in your locker room?  I think we are all guilty of looking at the portal as a fix all and a bunch of shiny new objects, but sometimes you have to trust in your own development methods.

It’s not that bad.  You can look forward to Jo Zee’s 7 posts every home Friday AND Saturday weekend.  Starts with the flag flying outside her house…then moves to pregame huddle…probably a scoreboard shot or two…a creeper photo of a former player in the stands…

I had student season tickets on the glass in 03-04, so I am well aware, and I am pretty sure most everyone on here is as well.

But student tickets are first come first serve? As in, the sooner you show up the better your seats are?

And if you're all well aware, it's really tough to tell. If we're going to rail on exhibition losses let's talk about why Hak didn't have the 2013-14 team ready for a couple of them where we narrowly beat Simon Fraser and LOST(gasp) to the University of British Columbia.

We also lost to St Lawrence that year and started the season 4-7-2.  I'm not going to look back but I'm sure everyone and their brother jumped off the bandwagon that year calling for Hak's head.  Then they went to the Frozen Four.

Feels like there's a lesson in there somewhere if you look hard enough.

Sure, but I also think they add players thoughtfully. I remember a portal transfer a few years back that ended up being a big time helper, but apparently his visit to Grand Forks nearly prevented him from coming as the players didn't like him. I haven't heard that from any portal goalie the past several years. The staff and team felt like they'd properly fit the "culture".

BTW, every team talks about their culture. Why are some so obsessed with that?

Not back then, you got to pick your seat and that was your seat all year, no matter when you showed up.

The difference between Hak's losses and Berry's losses is, Hak still made the national tournament.

Because we used to actually have the culture that they always talk about.  We have gotten away from the work ethic that made us what we were.   Just curious if Mitchell Miller fit that culture?

That would be a solid lesson if in fact past history showed it to be accurate.  The pattern of Hak’s teams was starting slowly and finishing the season with guns a blazing. Berry’s pattern is the team starting the season slowly and then trying to dig out of a deep hole in order to make the tournament and either a) making it for one game or b) having the wheels come off the bus in every “must win” game in the second half of the season and not making it at all.

So you’re relying on Berry to actually turn it around the second half of the season and I’m hoping he can too.  If he does though, it would go against the grain of everything we’ve seen in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Our players don't work hard?

I'm just gonna stop this now as I don't think we'll agree. It's fine. All good.

Ya, I'm pretty sure our players work hard.

The teams lack of being prepared, inconsistent play and poor game strategy comes down to coaching, I also think this staff put too much emphasis on the regular season and had nothing left for the playoffs. When has Berrys team played well in the post season ? Except for his first one. I think Berry is a nice guy and probably a great assistant just not a good head coach. He loves the hard working grinding style that’s why Senden, Hain and schmatlz get more ice time then most people think they deserve. Some times the game just passes you by and it’s time for new blood.

Good start, siouxelevens, but factual evidence to support the conclusions would be useful.   Many of the points are so broad or vague they are almost cliche’

-lack of being prepared.
-poor game strategy

-too much emphasis on the regular season

Those are fair points and may be true, but they are just conclusions not supported by causal facts.

Again, many of your observations are ones many of us share, but actual hockey factual evidence would make them easier to bank on.

To be clear, I wouldn’t find it shocking or offensive if BB was let go for the simple stated reason that he failed to win enough important games—Steinbrenner-like.    Head coaches of top D-1 programs are paid a lot of money and understand the need to win.   They’re big boys who have survived in an environment based on winning for a long time.   It should be different in an amateur sport that is part of a more important context:  university life.  But that’s not the way it is.

All I will say is that Berry has to say we took a period off way too often in his postgame interviews.

I know from personal experience that Hak said this, many, many, many times. But again, I don't want to go 10 rounds on this topic.

The disappointing results post 2016 are all the "evidence" you need. Results (or lack of them) matter. That's why Bubba is not in charge of FB anymore. How big of a sample size do we need for Berry?

Comparing the football and hockey teams are not the same. My goodness. As a collective, we can belittle regular season titles and regular season success, but the two programs are NOT equal in this realm.

Also, the concept of our teams "not being prepared" or that UND is being "outcoached" as a reason for our lack of success is the reason that people want Bubs fired, but they can't provide actual evidence. Those are not results-based concepts. We've won plenty of games where we've been outplayed.
