Let'sGoHawks!
Gophers do suck, not because you were playing against a solid goalie, just because you are the gophers. Pretty simple logic there. Check out my signature line, that's what I think of the state of the self proclaimed "state of hockey".

PCM
Looking at the USCHO box score, I see that none of the goals in the game were scored 5X5. Great win for the Sioux. Excellent game by Jordan Parise. Murray looked like he was on fire. Fantastic sniper-like goal by Jones. McMahon played one heck of a game. Let's get the sweep Saturday. You need to change it, because you forgot about the 4 Womens National Championships. Now that the Fighting Sioux has a womens team, you can't just pretend it doesn't count. so be a good kid, and go and put "men's" into your sig line, so you stop looking like a fool. Before you make fun of people, you should make sure you know what you are talking about.

Fedorov
BAH Whatever, I'm out. Congrats on the win, and I guess breaking out of the scoring slump. I am NOT Skippy. Please, I'm not even a guy. But seriously, the players have been hacking at our team all game. You know it, I know it, it's just ridiculous. I mean, all your goals came about legitimately so why bring in the cheap physical play? You don't need it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did you even watch the game? If you are going by your biased radio announcers, you should take it all back now. If you watched the game, you would see who the real cheap team was. I guess that is what they had to resort to since they got dominated. The only reason you scored a goal was because we got called for two penalties and the ref didn't blow the whistle when J Par had it covered. Talk about needing the ref to help you out. If you did actually see the game, you need to quit drinking. I expect a much closer game tomorrow night, especially since the team hasn't been known for playing well on Saturday nights this year. It was a good job by J Par, but I expect we will see a different goalie tomorrow.

farce poobah
Mankato ... is now showing as #11 in the national PWR, as calculated on this very site. They may not get home ice in the WCHA, but will cause some damage before they are done. Hopefully more on Saturday.

redwing77
Very nice game for the Sioux! JPar supporters can look upon this as a game of the season for Jordan. I'm not saying that Phil shouldn't be #1. Even now I am wondering why he started over Phil, but his strong performance tonight was well worth the quandry! Some things of note: Murray and Stafford: Wow! Yeah, Stafford didn't score, but he did do VERY well in creating chances. Murray... well, look at the box score. I haven't seen a goal like Murray's second since Zach did a similar thing to Briggs last year. Anderson is a very bad ref. His early calls were shady and the call on Stafford to make it a 4x3 was simply a make up call. He didn't realize there were two teams on the ice until most of the first period had expired. After that, he was consistant. First he screwed us, then he screwed the dogs, and then us again. I can understand the protective ring around Derek Shepherd, but what's keeping Todd employed? Has he ever called a good game? Ever? I was shocked that we chased Josh early. However, he did look a lot like JPar has during the season: Lots of uncontrolled rebounds. Unlike vs. UAA (Saturday), we were able to beat the goalie glove side. We missed two goals because of our shooting the puck into Lawson's glove last Saturday. An interesting note: Lots of penalties on Jones. Very few on Greene. Peluso let his emotions get the best of him again... It will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow... I don't want a fight to happen, but with Canisius next week... I wouldn't put it past them. I hope not. We're already thin at forward. Good work Sioux! Hope you do good tommorrow! SiouxTupa
Stafford did score. The second goal of the game, I believe. 1-2-3 effort is pretty impressive, and he CLEARLY had some chemistry going with Murray. They were fun to watch against a sluggish UMD defense. redwing77
Gah. That's what I get watching the game while playing Texas Hold "em with a bunch of friends. Stafford had a goal and 2 assists tonight. Murray had at least 2 goals maybe an assist. Zajac got a few points too. Boy, Zajac is humming right along, quietly but surely. For being the pre season WCHA ROTY, he sure isn't getting much press. I really really like Zajac. I wonder, if he stuck around long enough, if he would end up with an A or C on his jersey? OETKB
The wheels are falling off now.  I have a hard time seeing the Dogs even making the Final Five now. I can't believe the Dogs were ever ranked #1. The pBox guys were right...this team is "overrated". But, that said, I am going to go down with the ship. GO DOGS!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's what I'm sometimes about, too. Criticize the current situation, because you have immense pride in the program. Stick with the team forever, because you have immense pride in the program. Bleed green (or maroon, or whatever). As for whether UND is "chippy," they are. But not any more so than most WCHA teams. Almost every team has one or two guys who are "instigators." For UND, those guys are Greene & Prpich this year. And they are damn good at it! Greene nearly kills someone every game. Prpich is excellent at getting under opponents' skin by walking a fine line throughout the games. Welcome to hockey like it is played at the next level. They do it there, too. Not that you Dogs fans deserve any lecturing...you are among the best hockey fans. Not arrogant or nasty, just dedicated. Not to worry, Sandelin will come through; if not this year, soon. Go Sioux! Great breakout game, tonight. I don't think they liked losing to UAA last Saturday. Let's hope they carry that fire over to tomorrow. dagies
Got to watch the last half of the game at Senser's nice to finally get to watch some hockey again. Nice effort by the Sioux. Whether they are playing better all around, or if they are just well suited for the small surface they looked good in my mind tonite. Duluth had much difficulty getting offensive flow going, and our defense was very strong in our own end. Duluth rarely had a chance to get anything set up in the offensive zone. Most of the time our defensemen were in the face of the puck carrier and disrupting their efforts. We got to a lot of loose pucks and cleared the zone fairly effectively. I continue to be very impressed with Stafford's puck handling skills. What a nice pass over the Murray for Murray's goal. I don't know whether to credit Murray for a fantastic move that made the goalie look bad, or to rip Reichmuth for over committing to Murray because he lost his shorts out there big time. I haven't seen a Sioux forward burn a goalie that badly in quite a while. Very very impressed with Jones' goal. As someone said, it was a true sniper's goal. The puck was over on the goalies right side, and came to Jone's who basically was all alone on the left. Jones floated in to the circles and then just ripped a seeing eye shot over Reichmuth's left shoulder. Isaac was dropping down on the shot and had his glove ready above his left pad, so had a long way to go to try and pick that puck out of the air over his shoulder. Couldn't get there on time. Beautiful shot by Matt. Now Matt, try staying out of the box a bit. I was not real close to the TV so it was hard to see if all the penalty calls were ticky tacky or legit calls. Sure were a lot of penalties tonite on both teams. Was very happy to see the Canady-Kaip-Marvin line out there a lot near the end of the game. To be honest, I don't think they got enough time earlier on. Everytime I saw Canady on the ice tonite he was doing a great job forechecking, disrupting, and winning races to the puck. They were out near the end of the game when Peluso made a bid to get his butt kicked by another western Canada kid (Kaip). Peluso crosschecked Greene into Parise and Kaip right over and gave Peluso the falling check across the back (in hockey lingo I think that means "stay the heck away from my goalie"). They got seperated pretty quickly. However, looked like Marvin lost his helmet and had to be seperated from someone, maybe Czech. Sioux defense looked very very good out there. Did I see Radke play tonite? I couldn't always see the numbers well. Prpich appeared to have a very good game tonite. He was very noticeable on both ends of the night and made a very nifty move to nearly score a (shorthanded?) goal. Parise seemed to play pretty well. He got an absolute gift at one point when a rebound went off his pad in front of the open net but the Bulldog forward couldn't get his stick on it, then shot it right back at a sprawled Parise instead of into the net. Very lucky there. The goal he gave up he did have covered but I don't blame the whistle. In almost the same instant Parise covered the puck a bulldog player got their stick under his glove and the puck slid out. Looks like almost no one noticed it except the lone Bulldog player it slid out front to who easily roofed it. I think that is more good hustle by Duluth than a bad call by the ref. I know this, I would have been ticked if our forward did that but the whistle was blown. It was THAT quick. Sioux moved the puck very well tonite, especially in the offensive zone. Really zipped the puck around, and made some very good plays. Murray made an astounding move behind the net with the puck in an attempt to get the puck out front. It wasn't successful as he lost the control near the goal line but it was a thing of beauty. He had his back to the Sioux forward who passed him the puck to his right side. Brady never turned to face the puck. He put his stick over to his right with the blade angled at 45 degrees to catch the puck and carry it while he leaned and skated out front in an arc. At least that's the way it looked to me. Too bad he couldn't keep control of it. Seeing that kind of stuff is what I love about hockey. That and Stafford dancing with the puck across the blueline. Good stuff. Was also very impressed with Zajac. He's also got very good puck skills. Not so flashy but just effective. At one point he was a one man penalty kill forecheck/cycling team that held the puck low in the offensive zone for many seconds while the Bulldogs tried to wrestle it away from him. Overall, I would think the Sioux are pretty happy with the game tonite. I'm curious what Hak had to say after the game if anyone heard it. Hope we can keep it up tomorrow. I suspect Duluth didn't play as well as they did last weekend at Wisconsin. They didn't seem to have much going for them tonite. Hopefully we can hold them off tomorrow, and continue to put in some goals. If we can take tomorrow's game too, that will help erase the pain from losing to AA last weekend.
