Does anyone know if the mbb program endows it's own scholarships fully instead of the athletic department. (13 total ) The women have endowed scholarships, but not enough to cover the full cost of 15.

Here's an interesting tidbit:  In 1966-67, the NABC DII All-American 1st team included future Knicks Jackson, Walt Frazier, and Earl Monroe.

Personally I always felt Phil could have been more kind to UND after all his success. I know he did not like the Sioux nickname, but to my knowledge he never really did anything special for the school.  Maybe I'm just not informed.  If I'm mistaken I'm sorry.

more of a recruiting tool imo than a homage to phil...or f with him and make him 4'6" and jimmy and bill 6'6"....

just saying that UND bball reminding recruits that this where phil played couldn't hurt wehther or not phil forgot his roots

I think we probably have reached the generation that doesn’t even know Phil existed, to be honest. From my knowledge, Phil’s done very little to acknowledge he went here, so why would we memorialize him?

I believe a large majority of UND basketball fans know Phil is an alum.

I also believe that UND has honored Phil on multiple occasions and he has never shown much interest in reciprocating with a financial investment of anything significant to UND, the athletic department, or the basketball program. It is what it is with Phil, he's a unique guy

Athletic Hall of Fame in 1981, Honorary Doctorate in 2008, and the Sioux Award, the highest honor anyone can receive from UND, in 2018. The mens basketball team also has a scholarship with Phil's name on it. Not sure what's left, I don't think the Engelstad family will put his name on the floor. 😀
