Noticed pre-grame she seemed to be favoring knee / leg, but then jogged into locker room so I'm lost. I'm glad Mattson has gotten a chance and played well (not great). She's athletic and gets to a lot of balls defensively. However hate to see a senior miss their last home games. Lower body injury according to und sports.com Quote
Dustin Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Griffin back in setting today. UNC time-out with a 18-13 UND lead. Quote
Dustin Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 UND comes out strong out of the timeout, outscores unc 7-3 to close the set 25-19. Quote
Dustin Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 UND came out slow, trailing 5-1 before storming back to take a 14-10 lead, forcing a UNC timeout. Quote
Dustin Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 The momentum continues as UND stretches its lead to 18-10 forcing another unc timeout. Quote
Dustin Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Set 2 win with a matching 25-19 score. Quote
Dustin Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 both Teams have exhausted their timeouts, so it’s no stopping til the end with UND leading 21-19. Quote
Dustin Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 UNC played better down the stretch and forces a set 4 with a 25-23 win. Quote

Dustin Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Und scores two in a row, and then UNC decides to call timeout. 18-14 UND. Quote
Dustin Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Victory! 25-19 in set 4. Should lock up #2 seed in conference tournament next week. Quote
MDtoGF Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 A recap at the link below! Sydney Griffin looked outstanding today and came up five kills short of a triple-double. UND has time to get ready now. https://seamoresports.com/2017/11/11/und-uses-balanced-effort-to-clinch-2nd-seed-in-big-sky-tournament/ Quote
Dustin Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 Have not seen a release from the conference, but I believe the volleyball seeds are as follows: 1) Sacramento St 2) North Dakota 3) Idaho 4) Portland St 5) Northern Arizona 6) Idaho St 7) Weber St 8) Northern Colorado Quote
Dustin Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 The seeding I listed is correct. UND plays Weber St in the first quarterfinal of the day on Thursday. Game time is 11 am PT (1 pm CT). Quote
teamsioux Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 If they keep winning: Friday 6:35 pm CST (Idaho/Idaho St) Saturday 10:00 pm CST Quote
SiouxVolley Posted November 14, 2017 Author Posted November 14, 2017 Next year, the Big Sky goes to a set host on the volleyball tournament. Northern Colorado will be hosting. In the Summit, the top six teams go to Denver, which won the regular season crown. The Summit seems to play Friday to Sunday in the regular season and postseason. No more Thursday night conference games. Quote

About a week or a week-and-a-half ago, I looked at the Summit League website to see how the conference tournament host is determined. At that time, Denver was already announced as the host, but Oral Roberts was leading the standings, and the season wasn't even over. So, based on that, the tournament is at a pre-determined location. I also meant to look into the conference schedule to see how league games are organized. If they are truly Friday to Sunday, I think UND Athletics Department would take issue with that, with hockey games on Friday and Saturday nights. I really liked the Thursday night/Saturday mid-day schedule. Maybe UND will get to choose it's game nights/days. I would think Denver would prefer to not play on Friday, also being a hockey school. MadScout03 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I wasn't a big fan of the Saturday 11am starts when there was football the same day. I'm a football and tailgating season pass holder, so going to volleyball in the morning wasn't really an option. The problem is, I'm not sure what the solution is. A Sunday match would be better, but I also know people that might be in town for football or hockey could be heading out of town before the match, depending on the time. Tough call. Quote

Denver has won the regular season and tournament each of the past three season and their looking for four. Perhaps the Summit gives the previous champion team hosting rights. Last year Denver hosted too. Here's a link to the hosting announcement. Seems the Summit gives previous conference winners some benefits. http://www.thesummitleague.org/general/2017-18/releases/20170720i0mo1k Quote
